Buffalo Bob I loved you & Howdy. You're gone but You and Howdy will live forever in us who remember you. You were the reason we got a tv in 1952 because our cousins next door would not let us watch Howdy with them. This was a big item for us in rural NC but somehow we got a tv & I love to look at clips of tv that I saw in the early 1950s.

In 1988 I played in an celebrity golf tournament at Hilton Head and got to meet Buffalo Bob Smith. As a young boy, I never missed the Howdy Doody Show with Buffalo Bob Smith. May wife and I had dinner every evening with him and that was the highlight of the tournament for me, to meet my childhood hero. He is one of the nicest nicest men I have had the opportunity to meet. Asked him if Howdy came to the tournament and he said the Mr Doody was afraid of flying. Thought that was a cute comeback... Awesome gentleman.... best weekend of my life....

This is my childhood. I am an older man that grew up watching this show back in the fifties and sixties. Back then it was magical seeing howdy come to life. I was for howdy and have that button to this day!

You know I am 27 years old.I bought a DVD called The Best Of Howdy Doody for my 2 year old daughter.I have to say when I was watching this with her I couldn't believe how cool this show seemed.I may not have been born when it first came out but I think these days tv needs shows like this cause it takes talent just to work that puppet.I wish there were shows that have puppets like that again.I would love it,So Buffalo Bob I give you a BIG thumbs up for the show you have created.Thanks.

According to "Street Gang by Micheal Davis" it was observed by behind the scene ppl that Buffalo Bob really didn't pay attention to his live child audience and only turned on "the magic" when the cameras were on. Sad really if this is true.

Howdy Doody was knocked into a Saturday Morning timeslot in 1956...because of strong competition from the Mickey Mouse Club.

This was a product of the time and it is unfair to place modern modes of conduct on someone who lived 50+ years ago. Thomas Jefferson, the man who wrote the Declaration of Independence owned slaves. Does that make him a hypocrite or a product of his times? Hindsite is easy.
