    This was the best video ever. I am sick of watching people clean ovens with just a little mess. I want to watch someone clean an oven that looks as bad as mine from cooking bacon. I loved the fact that you were so honest about the endeavor..the self-doubt...haven’t we all been there. You did such great job making the video...I could see everything so clearly. Your oven looks great. I am going to do mine too but not use as much Dawn.

  • @makeit2649

    Haven't read all the comments so just in case someone hasn't already said this... you need to start the wiping with DRY paper towels. That's right, dry-wipe most of it out first. That will remove most of the Dawn and a lot of the grease it released from your oven. You don't want to spread that around; you want to remove it, right? Then come back through again with a wet scrubby to work on the bad spots. Then come back through again with a dry wipe. You may need to do one damp wipe after that to get the last of the residue, but that should do it.

    I did this but a little differently. I mixed the dawn and baking soda to make a paste and let it sit in the double ovens over night. The next morning I got paper towels and laid them on top of the paste then sprinkled the vinegar over the paper towels. It cleaned up pretty easily. The vinegar must have made the Dawn less sudsy. The double ovens had been in the house since 1969 and looked brand new!

    Baking soda and vinegar will help cut through cooked-on grease. Maybe the dish soap is added to break down the oil?
    Caution with Easy Off: do not get any of it on the heating elements, and preheat your oven for at least 10 minutes AFTER it reaches temperature, otherwise the residual odor will be in your food.

  • @ronsandahl274
    @ronsandahl274 6 месяцев назад +7

    I've never done this where I mixed it up BEFORE putting it on. Most of the cleaning power comes from the reaction of the vinegar to the baking soda; when you mix it up before, all of that reaction is happening off the place you want to clean. What has worked for me is to make a paste with a whole bunch of baking soda and a bit of water - you want it spreadable, like peanut butter, but not runny. You work one surface at a time, like just the bottom. Put the baking soda mixture on and then really rub it into. all over the surface. Then using a cheap spray bottle you spray it with white vinegar (don't use apple cider vinegar, it's half as strong. Spray the hell out of it and then IMMEDIATELY cover the whole surface in plastic wrap/saran wrap. Then do each of the other surfaces. Leave it for between 12 and 24 hours. When I can back all of the mess came off with a spatula - it just pushed right off.

    It only works with light grime it doesn’t work with baked and grime you need to use foil on the bottom of your ovens and around anything like a broiler pan or something like that you need to protect it with aluminum foil and you need to get odorless easier off to get stuff that is broiled hard onto the oven I tried that concoction and it works fine if it’s not broiled on but it does not work for really broiled on stuff so what you have to do is get yourself easy off film free paint it on there leave it till tomorrow or follow the directions do it two or three times till everything comes off now I’m getting a self cleaning up and I don’t know about the rest of you guys but I’m gonna go down to the store and buy self cleaning oven I’m done with this I don’t like bending over and sitting on the floor and crawling in a dirty oven and I’m done
