    Enjoyed this one. A Zionsville resident and you included our home in your video a couple times. I would agree/disagree on the access portion of the community. Michigan Rd and connecting to I-65, so easily, I believe it makes it easier to get downtown, airport, etc.. There is, to your point, a bit of intentional walling the town off for exclusivity purposes. Neon lights...no! Buildings over 25 feet...no, zoning variances....tight and citizens that remonstrate over Carmel, Fishers, Whitestown type construction...absolutely. Resisting a new interchange off I-865, passionate, as well as widening 334 to allow more traffic, not a popular discussion. So, the retro feel, the general affluence of the residents, exemplary schools, large rolling properties (outside the Village) and home valuations soaring under the supply/demand continuum all make for a wonderful place to live. Thanks for a good review

    I live here. It's bigger than the village. It's a walkable place. We live in a older neighborhood so our home cost is a lot less. We can still walk to the village. And I love walking in the summer at night and feel very safe.

    One thing that I have noticed about Zionsville and Carmel is that a lot of people drive very slow, many under the speed limit which can be frustrating.

      It depends on where you live. There are plenty of spots where you can put together running routes. Some spots might involve roads you wouldn't be interested in running on.

    Zionsville (west and east) has far better excess to Downtown than Carmel and matches Fishers. Yes Traveling east is not easy, but traveling west from Fishers is not easy. Zionsville has great access to the Airport. Much Better than Fishers or Carmel. Unfortunately Zionsville does have the highest combined tax rates (income and property tax) on the northside. Beware Boone County is considering raising the county option income tax rate from 1.50% to 2.00% and Zionsville Community Schools also has already passed 2 referendum.

    • @LivingInIndianapolis

      We do get snow in the winter but not as much as people would think. We get a little over 20 inches per year on average. We certainly don't have snow on the ground all winter long.

    I noticed the cyclist shelf figure behind you, and was wondering as a road cyclist myself considering a move to Zionsville, what’s the cycling like? Good roads? Group rides?

    • @LivingInIndianapolis

      I used to ride a ton. The roads outside of Zionsville or anywhere more rural are really nice. Plenty of great group rides too. All skill levels from hammerheads to more casual.

    • @LivingInIndianapolis
      @LivingInIndianapolis  3 года назад +3

      It's hard for me to say exactly. It should likely be above average for housing. Everything else for the most part regarding cost of living should be close to the same as any other place in the Indy metro

    My family moved to Zionsville from Fort Wayne when I was 2 (1991) and I moved to Texas at 18. I would re combed not placing such a heavy focus on downtown Zionsville. Only downtown is so “quaint”. Way back in the day, decades ago, it used to be that way, but it’s mostly all ‘new money’ and new neighborhoods of mostly homes that look all the same (i.e. Royal Run, etc.)I moved to Texas in 2008 and this was the case. I wouldn’t want anyone to watch this video and get the wrong perception of my hometown. I love my hometown, and I work in social media advertising, so I get what the host is trying to do, but expect to be called out a little bit from someone who actually lived and grew up there.

    • @LivingInIndianapolis
      @LivingInIndianapolis  3 года назад +1

      Hi Lauren! Thanks for watching the video. This video along with many others is just meant to highlight specific parts of a town or city... or to highlight its cultural heart. Many places (especially some suburbs) don't have much to speak of regarding that. Zionsville is a great place when compared to others. It's also grown since 2008. It's a little over 28,000 people currently so it goes without saying that there will be many houses that look quite similar. The good thing is that it has more than houses and some chain stores/shops. It's a little more unique with some personality. However, it isn't necessarily for everyone. Thanks for your input and hope all is well in TX!
