The King and Queen were actually in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach. It looks _very much_ like the Irish State Coach but it has Gold "spokes" instead of red.
Another silly mistake i made realised after
They had publicised it would be the Irish Coach

Love the pagentry of the monarchy, especially seeing the crown and sword has its own coach

So why was the Royal Standard still flying at the Palace if the King was at Parliament?
Because he is technically 'in residence' even while at the Palace of Westminster. A Royal Standard flies over Parliament, too, when the Monarch is inside.

The 2022 State Opening took place in May. Charles led the event but in the name of his mother. There was no pageant or parade that year, either. So this is technically the King's first State Opening and it is the first King's Speech in decades!

I like your videos. But please fact check. I point this out because you mentioned it several times. The king And queen travelled in the Diamond Coach, introduced in the 21 century. That is why you thought it "looked so good" as you said the second time you saw it. Don't quote me but it looked like the Irish Coach, built in the mid 19th century was caring the Imperial State Crown.
Here's your cheat sheet:
Hint #1 Irish Coach, red wheels.
Hint Diamond Coach, gold wheels and a 360° camera in the coronet on top.

I made the mistake of listening to reports previous to the ceremony that they were to use The Irish Coach thank you for the correction
I did cover The Royal Mews in a previous videos and distinguish between both coaches
Should have trusted my instincts on the day

It is a shame the King and the Queen before him, could not speak their own words. They are given a speech written by the Prime Ministers office and that is what they read.
Very true. There is always so much analysing about the Monarch's face as they read the speech to see if we can ever gage their true thoughts!
