I think just seeing the hunger bar go down makes it seem like death is a lot closer than it seems, but it doesn't look like starvation is as quick as death by cold.
In short, I think that the relatively quick hunger bar adds a sense of anxiety, especially considering how quick a game can go if everyone knows what they're doing.

It shows modesty by saying he doesn’t know what he’s doing even with the reality being that he does. It’s not something like “The next voyage awaits me” or some shit lol. It’s plain and modest honesty from someone sacrificing themselves for the wellbeing of their crew.
The true Captain of the HMS Fuckup was not the captain, most understand that the man standing in that crows nest giving orders and helping the crew was the Captain. The man that laid down his life willingly to secure the safety of his crew. He went down like a true Brit, sipping some nice hot tea. Even though the ship didn’t make it, that man risked everything to try, and that’s all you can do, try.

Volume Warning for the folks who habent seen the video - people's audio gets pretty peaky when they get loud (which they always do, c'mon) or when Tomato is turning his model while someone is talking (inconsistently).
Make sure your audio is a bit lower. Im on 34 and that works fine for me, with headphones.

The food and the nitro seem to be a bit of a problem. Mostly the food. If they fix that then the nitro probably wouldn't be as big an issue.
But Holy Shit, that final round was tense.
I think for the food, you're supposed to have the hunter and cook working more on their specific jobs while the others do expeditions. For the nitroglycerin, I think you're not supposed to have such a large group run off at once. I'm pretty sure the game was designed to be more balanced for people who know what they're doing, which makes the first several games seem imbalanced.
That said, there should be the ability to tweak values and stuff for beginner games like this.
The nitro sabotage is incredibly hard to pull off as traitor, tomato's play here was once in a lifetime thanks to a lack of knowledge. Unless you mean simply getting it to the iceberg which is meant to be hard, I saw a game where Joe speedran it and got it done on the first day though because no traitor thought he'd be going for it so fast. The food is what forces people to rely on co-operation instead of easily keeping themselves fed. Relying on co-operation is what lets the traitor make damaging but subtle plays like well timed poisoning, forced cannibalism, or plain food wasting.
I really like the sheer amount of things the traitor can do to sabotage as it makes it really hard to keep an eye on everything at the same time and prevents meta tactics like camping the boiler or whatever from being viable.
@@dopaminecloud I was more worried about the latter, especially after people started saying the spawn was random, but if it can be done in a day then it isn't much of a concern then.
The hunger forcing people to work together is a good point, but with how quickly people get hungry it will become one of the more common ways to sabotage (either by poisoning, hoarding, etc) which is all fine and good until people start doing that more than anything else. I think a slight hunger buff but reduce the ease of access with another resource so at least playing the game might feel better as food isn't a constant issue more pressing than who the traitors are.
@@Athkore The crew have a major advantage on making sure food is secured, especially when people discover the kitchen can be locked from the inside and that stew covers food for the whole crew for a day and a half.
That last session was so close, frickin' amazing to watch.

I'm sure you have figured this out by now but u can adjust alot of the settings in the game... like how fast hunger, cold, and even coal consumption goes... and yes u can chuck meat on the fire and cook it. Also I'm impressed I have never seen a team finish before
