  • S&P FRP systems can also be used to support sustainable building upgrades. In this particular case for Farum swimming hall in Denmark, the building had to be energy optimised. The sustainable upgrade was made by establishing a new roof construction with more insulation, as well as solar panels installed on the roof. Due to the increase in dead load, the structural capacity of the building would have been compromised. Thankfully S&P had the solution and in collaboration with the client's consultant, we were able to offer a design solution with S&P C-laminates to structurally reinforce the building. As a result of the final solution, the structure achieves an annual CO2 reduction of 25 tonnes, leading to a clear customer benefit where economy and sustainability go hand in hand.
