Great video! These are all things that I've encountered on my travels. After all is said & done, I still believe that a bad day of travel is better than a good day at work. Keep livin' the dream. I'm currently in Narita, Japan, dealing with jet lag before I start this year's SE Asian travels. Oct 30, 2024 will be my 10 year anniversary of full time travel and, I'm happy to say, I don't have a nanosecond of regret. Keep moving...
Another great video! Same issue with an elderly parent. I use Line Zoom, WhatsApp to video chat no matter where I am in the world. When a crisis hits, I too recall an amazing person when I was returning home for the last days of my mom. I think of him and what he did everytime I travel. He reminds me always of hope in humanity.
Planning around elderly parents is tough and emotional. I remember feeling when my dad turned 74 that time was running short. He lived till 95. You can’t delay your entire life for the maybes. It tough tho if something happens
Well yes that is the thing. You don't want something to happen when you're not around but also we all have our lives to live. Great to see you here on the new channel :-)
Absolutely love following you guys. I learn so much! Loved your video in Murcia city, 'the most under rated city'. I passed through here on my travels and decided to make it my home. Sometimes making that mad decision in life, ain't so mad after all. Next time you're here, make sure you contact us and we'll meet up to try that food you never got to try, and visit those places you said you'd missed. God bless and take care XX
Great info and advice, thank you so much for sharing your really honest true life experiences, you don't find this anywhere else, really appreciated you both :)
Enjoyed the video. Totally with you on Kuala Lumpur with respect to healthcare. I've made it my main healthcare location outside the US. I find I'm spending more time with my elderly parents now than I was before I started full-time travel. But I still sometimes feel torn between spending more time with them and spending time traveling the world. Ultimately, I need to realize that I have to enjoy my life in the way I've always dreamed of doing it, and try to balance that with periodic visits with the parents. Happy and safe travels!
I thought this was one of your best, It's so honest! Life travelling the world is not always plain sailing. There's an awful lot of hard work and planning that goes into it and even with all the planning in the world, there's always the unexpected. Hat's off to both of you for doing what you do, showing us uour adventures and for being so open. Ian
I think you should make an honest video about your Bali experience. The story you tell could save someone else from a bad experience and isn't that just as important as recommending a nice place? Thanks for this video, you bring up points that many people don't consider before travelling.
Thanks for some important tips. The reality is, by the time we are free of. career responsibilities, we are likely to have elderly parents or other family demands. Don’t give up your dreams. I love your spirit.
Truly love you guys. I'm sorry about the loss of your parents this year. That really lies heavy in your hearts. I'm very glad you are continuing travel. Are you thinking about Central/South America anytime soon?
I am 50 and now an empty nester considering full time travel but my parents are mid to late 70’s. This is a huge concern for me for the reason you mentioned. I currently live close by and worry something will happen when I’m on the other side of the world.
Set money aside for an emergency flight ticket. They will (hopefully) live many more years even decades, this concern will only become larger with time/age. If you don't go now, you might not be able to realise your dream for another 20 years. Just my opinion of course.
Love watching your videos as I wouldn’t dream of travelling the world. I am very much a home bird as is my husband (fortunately) so I get to see places through yourselves. I can’t get my head round not having a place to call home. Everybody is different. Keep the videos coming.
As a Brit I've never thought the NHS was the best health service, i always knew it was crap and unreliable. The health care in Asia is light years ahead, thats why i left the UK in 2016 and moved to Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia as i alternate each country throughout the year. I and my family have had terrible advice over the years from the NHS so will only ever use it as a last minute resource if im ever in the UK. Also 'global warming?' FFS 🤣🤣🤣🤦🤦
Yes the healthcare in Asia is incredible isn't it? We plan to get bi-annual health checks too. We had health checks in Penang 18 months ago and that gives us a baseline.
Thks for this video! You mentioned that potential AirBnB hosts will be able to read your (negative) reviews of past AirBnB stays in other places, and then choose not to accept ur reservation. But I don’t think there is an easy way for the potential AirBnb hosts to do that. I think they can only easily go to your AirBnb profile to read reviews of what other AirBnB hosts posted about you. But on your profile, I don’t think they see the reviews that you have posted of other AirBnbs that you have stayed in…..
Enjoy your videos guys, thanks. I have never and will never use air bnb. The main reason is that everywhere I travel I talk to the locals and without fail, all locals hate air bnb and what it does re their local economies. So I see it as a form of respect for the countries I travel to by NOT using air bnb ever! Happy travels cheers from Australia
I’m loving this video so much. I brought my mom to Mexico 3 years ago so she could afford quality care, and to spend more time with her I moved my work online and eventually gave up my place in the US. Now when I’m back in the states I stay with friends, which-it turns out-is a really lovely way to spend time with them. I can afford take everyone out to dinner with the money I’m not spending on rent or a hotel, and it’s a really connected time. Also, thank you so much for the tips about banks and diversifying-I’d thought about having accounts at more than one institution, but not thought to check if their credit cards all run through Visa🤔!🙏
Good points throughout. So hard with parents. I'm trying to get my 79 year old mom from US to UK for a couple of months as she wants to spend some time at "home." In terms of banking we have all 3 credit cards, Wise with debit card, and other banking backups. I just got a new CC and the actual card is still in the US but my DIL sent me the numbers and so now it's loaded in my google wallet so I am able to use it that way with my phone and watch. Loads of backups now thankfully:)
The part of the video where you had to fade out 💔 This was a very honest insight into the flipside of the long term travelling lifestyle. While I know you’re still travelling, obviously, has having your motor home and thus, a home base, had impacts on you good or bad (hopefully good) that you weren’t expecting?
In SE Asia i bring a tiny (40cm x 40cm 50 g) microfiber hand towel from mountain warehouse that folds up in a little carry bag that i can clip on my purse. i use it as a sweat towel to mop my forehead with. i think it cost like 5EUR. BTW I like your new format. Have you thought about releasing these as podcasts as well?
Hi guys. I think something in your video must have accidentally got deleted out. You started to go onto the next subject. Noisy. But had nothing said about it. I was actually looking forward to your take on that 😊
The bubble seems to have burst with the a b+b scene as some landlords/caretakers are overcharging and underdelivering. I now use hotels and guest houses with no issues or having to fratically clean everything, put new bed linen on and pimp the place for them before leaving...to avoid 'charges'. In some countries leaving a negative review can lead to very unfortunate futures - I'll leave it there, however: There is an art to leaving a review which only the perceptive will read as true..."if you are a heavy metal music fan then this hotel is THE hotel for you etc...I have great fun I have to admit but when in doubt say nothing, its easier and saves my hotel booking rating which gives amazing discounts to me as a 'regular' user (of their services - not other things!)
Great video!

If you have a nice place there shouldn't be a worry
Hi Neil, Just found out from Tim, that you are doing the same as us, what a small world, must catch up sometime :)
Let's do it! Would love that.

Totally agree on Airbnb reviews… So sad 😞
Great info and advice, thank you so much for sharing your really honest true life experiences, you don't find this anywhere else, really appreciated you both :)
So happy you're still going! We leave mid September with a 1 way ticket to Istanbul! We're excited for our slow travel adventure to begin!

Thanks for making this video. My husband and I are traveling about six months each year, and this was a good reminder to us for what we might expect.

Very helpful!
Thank you for the video and tips. I’ve also heard about the air bnb reviews.

another great video, very honest, good tips, "stuff" happens, we cant see what the future will bring.
Absolutely. Really appreciate the comment, thank you.
Love this! Happy to hear you’re expanding the your time horizon for travel ❤
Thanks for some important tips. The reality is, by the time we are free of. career responsibilities, we are likely to have elderly parents or other family demands. Don’t give up your dreams. I love your spirit.
A lovely honest review of your good and not so good experiences, of travel. Food for thought.
Thank you Jackie. It's good to see the reality.
Brilliant video. Would love to have given Sarah a hug. She had me sobbing along!
Great video and excellent points! As an aside, you both look wonderfully healthy and happy. So glad you’re back. 😊
Truly love you guys. I'm sorry about the loss of your parents this year. That really lies heavy in your hearts. I'm very glad you are continuing travel. Are you thinking about Central/South America anytime soon?
Hi Kerry, we are looking at that, we are really keen to get to Argentina and that may make it into our plans next year.
Excellent! We are also slow travellers and have been traveling for over 4 years. Love hearing and sharing ides!
KL is great for medical care, been there done that.

Funny.. we are 64 and 74 and starting our full time travel this year! Your comment made me feel elderly for some reason.
Hi Guys, you popped up on my feed great video...... didn't know you started a second chanel

Actually global warming can be attributed to the poles

We spoke to a host that told us it is pretty straight forward for them to gain that information.
Thank you for getting in touch, we appreciate it.
@@2GoRoamTravels oh yes, maybe the hosts have extra features in their dashboard that allows them to see all :)
Not healthy for the platform, though
The heat in Qatar was horrible. Airbnb is the worst. I was all in 2017, but now Airbnb is only if it cannot be avoided.

So right about Airbnb!
Great video! Thanks
I haven't used AirBnB for years - the owners tend to be somewhat deluded about the state of their premises🥸🥸

I lock my cards when I’m not using them & switch them on when I need them. I travel with 3 cards, 2 credit (MC,Visa)& 1 debit card.

Great to see you both. Love the fact you are still thinking about Resilience with your multiple bank cards...you never lose it 😂
Airbnb is broken. Would never use one since it became a public trading company. Profit over customer service.
I could not find your medical costs?

Avoid Airbnb overseas, stick with hotel, better service and you can always request another room.
