FYI - leave the module in auto and the audio will not stop when you sample. when the gate fires into the sample button, the module will swap automatically to monitor the incoming audio and swap back automatically into sample playback. This way, when playing live, there's no dead air.
I love this module. It's an easy build. Hadn't realised how using it for CV and incorporating effects would make it even grittier (i.e better)! Thanks for demonstrating it Ben.
SOLD. Cheap as well and it does things I wanted to do with Mungo g0 but was a right pain to set up for rhythmic patches. And to be honest the slicing CV idea is what sold me on it. Brilliant video mate.
Just purchased one of these. I'm messing with it getting some results but would love some kind of pdf explaining all the functions and features. Mine was second hand. Did it come with any sort of manual?
That's a modular synth term - it refers to the difference in approach between the West coast Buchla style (sequencers, random, non western tunings, low pass gates, fm, wave folding) and East coast Moog style (keyboard, low pass filters, more basic wave forms)
Great video, as always! Too bad this can't playback while you're recording. Like I imagine it being able to constantly playback the audio in the buffer and then replace the buffered audio in recording mode, so that there is no gap in sound when you're recording. Still, what a great module!

Love the simplicity of this module. Just wish it at least retained memory between sessions. We need Sampleslicer II with microSD slot!

it would be cool if it played back while recording a new sample so you could have continuous resampling, you could even make delays with it then

that module would have been perfect with a 1V/oct input !!
for the pitch input it has. it has 4 pitch modes. one of them is 1v/oct
even more to explore!
great demo - the best I've seen - for this cool module!
awesome, thank you.
Where does the random gate come from at 3:00?
Hey Ben, how do I "clear" the buffer in real-time?
Ben, please do a video on the Tyme Sefari Mk2!
Can this also play backwards?

is yours the mk1 or mk2 ?
@@saren6538 mk1 . Thanks for replying.
Great demo! Thanks.
Which is the module for the detuned saw wave?
Which is better--this or the Befaco? Or are they just both as good but offer different features?
Very fun module, like the visual feedback
Where did you get the LED cables from? Been trying to find them.......Oh, and digging the module. :)
12:50 Did they say "a more 'West Coast' approach?"
BitterLad yes

Yeah check out West Coast Synthesis. We cover that in some upcoming features in Modular Monthly too.

it can instead, just turn on the 'auto' switch
It's like someone tried to make the phonogene look normal.
haha I get how it could look that way
Morphagene, now.
And reasonably priced
cant find this module anywhere :(
It's getting a new Kickstarter project relaunch for the MKII and you're still in time!
@@sergelectric whats the diff in ver 1 and 2 ?

amazing
I've never seen a video about eurorack modules which resulted in "Meh, I don't need or want this module..."
want!
I admit I haven't yet had time to play vid right thru but why is there a gate AND a trigger in? Aren't they more or less the same thing? Thanks.
The trigger is for starting the sampling process, the gate is for playing back
