I’m the SpringTrap cosplayer! It was an absolute honor being apart of such a tough competition, everyone looked incredible and did amazing work. This was my first on-stage contest since 2018 so I’m forever grateful for the experience. I was just happy to be there 😂❤️ amazing work everyone ❤
For people who are saying this contest was rigged I've been cosplaying for over ten years and I can tell you it wasn't. It's not up to the audience it's all up to the judges and bigger isn't always better, it's all about neatness and how well it was crafted as a whole. They can see things we can't. I remember competing with a Tifa cosplayer in her default outfit at ANYC last year and she won first place in the master's category because she made her shoes from scratch and could do cartwheels in her costume. So the judges will be able to see hot glue strings on the armor, skipped stitches on clothes, fraying satin, unhemmed skirts and pants, places where things are falling apart, etc. When you look at the mimic at 17:55 you can see one of the shelves on his left foot forming a dome, you can see most of the foam isn't even sanded down properly, seams where parts that should be glued are showing, and parts are starting to fall off the more you watch. He even showed close-ups on his Instagram and there were more flaws I could see so it wasn't a surprise he didn't win. Meanwhile, Sarcasm Hime worked on her dress and cape for over two years and the embroidery was all done BY HAND! Including using goldwork, beading, etc for the patterns. I saw a close-up of the dress on her Instagram and it was amazingly clean. Of course, I had a gut feeling she would win something.

They need different categories with different criteria. Costumers are looking for technical skill, but many people are looking for creativity and impact.
I was the Ayra cosplayer! It was an honor being selected to compete in this contest and mingle with the other contestants! Everyone's cosplays are excellent! It was a tough competition. Congratulations to all of the winners!
i'm friends with Solaris Yuna, and the way i'm so so SO proud of her! Their cosplay is amazing and even though they didn't win all of us who know them irl have been screaming in joy for her!

I feel bad for other cosplayers who WORK SO hard in this cosplay than this cheater (25:06) WHO WASN'T HERS and use lina's seth nightroad cosplay, WHO WORKED SO HARD TO JOINED ANOTHER COSPLAY CONTEST AND ALWAYS GET WHAT *SHE* WANTS(I forgot she doesn't give credits to the owner who made this...)

And for the last ten years she was cheating and sandbagging with cosplays she didn't even make. She disrespected the other cosplayers, she disrespected the judges, she disrespected the artist who made her costume, and she disrespected the entire competition. That behavior needs to be called out.
The organization putting this event together must bring in mondo amounts of cash! Those artists deserve a decent prize money! Not these token bits of cash.

It made 2nd place because of the amount of leather sewing and woodwork (the hammer) that went into the outfit. Plus the entire thing was very very clean. Clean Outfit > Big & Flashy with competitions like these.
Is the bald announcer ok? This isn't the first time I've seen him horribly mispronouncing words. If this is a known issue, then fine. But if he hasn't been checked out, I suggest he gets a full medical work up soon. Sure, this could be something as simple as dyslexia or something similar... but there are several other medical conditions that are serious that present this way.
I trust the judges, with years more experience than you, made the right decision. That poor woman had her moment stolen by a rude, inexperienced crowd. These contests are not subject to crowd opinion or who looks the coolest, but by construction and how many techniques were used and how they were applied. She hand beaded and hand embroidered that entire dress herself. Yeah, his was cool, but ultimately the judges make the final decision on who should win, and I feel like they are correct. Once again, they know what they are doing and what they are looking for in a winning cosplay.

Mimic should have been in the special effects category. But I’ve heard that some of the bookshelf decorations were pre-purchased and that is what prevented him from placing
No, it was not, the judges can see things we can't up close. It's the judges job to nitpick every part of the costumes they see. So if they can see unsanded foam, glue strings, skipped stitches, etc. Chances are it won't win at all.

The contest was based on craftsmanship, not creativity or flashiness. A cosplay can look amazing from afar, but if it's sewn shoddily, or hot glued together, or falling apart it's not going to win
Crazy thing to comment. Just want to point out for anyone happening across this comment that two of the winners were not women: both Best Armor and Best Needlework were NOT women (I should know, I was the cosplayer who won Best Needlework at this competition)
