I love that he added the 2nd and 3rd place finishers' names to the respective trophies too. Everyone on that podium get's really cool piece of history.

For some reason Lewis' trophy was the traditional Siverstone trophy. Did it break?
@@danielfabian7533 They give out 2. The team doesn't get to keep the traditional one but they get to keep the one created in this video

@@BiggDubz We can confirm that Lewis did received the trophy! It was awarded to him for his stage appearance and is now safely at Mercedes HQ.
But why they didn't give that trophy to Lewis on the podium?
They give him that big "classic" trophy

i think the winner gets that trophy every year...but its returned. just like football. they get the custom designed one permanently later
@@G0ldenOwl That's correct, Lewis received the official Silverstone trophy on the podium and our trophy for his stage appearance. This will also go into the trophy cabinet at Mercedes in Brackley!

Wow, when I saw the trophy’s handed out today I thought “Wow those trophy’s are so cool. They look so light!”. Amazing touch putting the past winners on it, and the winner right there! When you said no other sports do that other than Wimbledon. The Open Championship in Gold does the same, name punches the winner before he gets it. But that the “Main one”. The player would get a replica after his allotted time with the trophy (one year), then return it to pick up is personalized replica.
I figured they just followed Perez and Seargant with a plastic bag, gathering up bits of floor and front wing.
That was awesome! So much thought and detail went into the British GP trophies.

I think making the trophies out of old F1 car parts should become standard, even if it might be more difficult to make enough replicas. Certainly much better than it being one big branding sign (looking at Heineken) or tech gimmick.

Absolutely. If I were an F1 driver I know I would certainly prefer that, haha even if it was some inelegant monstrosity.
But if it were actually more standard I wouldn't mind them giving it a 1 min or so quick little segment on the feed showcasing the trophy and the main parts that were used, say on the Saturday post-quali show. Would think that could make some more people actually pay a bit of attention, in a _ow that's neat_ kind of way. Compared to now where I imagine paying any attention really towards the trophies is a _very_ niche thing.
