- Adventure at Scott Island (aka "Harbormaster") 1/2 Hour B/W Filmed Show Episode: "The Wreckers" Original ABC Network print with all of it's original commercials (Camel and Salem) as broadcast on November 7, 1957.
Considering the Camel ads I can see why there's a "Not For Broadcast" warning on the screen. That being said it looks like it was a pretty good show! I was only five years old at the time it was first aired and don't remember it at all.
I DO remember the old Salem catch-phrase "Take a puff, it's springtime!"
I'm surprised it was filmed in the Gloucester area, I would have assumed they'd do the Hollywood thing and find a Pacific coast location for the shoots.
I was a teenager when this series was filmed. In this episode I recognized someone in several scenes that was a good friend of my father and mother. Also, in another episode, there was a scene from another episode that was filmed in the Saint Peter's Club, a local gathering place where most of the fishermen of Gloucester would congregate. Wish there were more episodes shown on youtube or on nostalgia tv stations. I remember when Paul Burke said that one of his parents was Sicilian. Many of the fishermen from Gloucester were Sicilian. So glad that the series was filmed in the Gloucester area instead of a Hollywood soundstage. The series would not have been authentic if it was.
Thanks for posting. I remember watching the filming of one episode when I was a kid in Gloucester, MA. I remember talking to one of the actors. He was very charming to my 10 year old self.
Brought to by slow death .
Every time I see "ZIV" it reminds me of being a kid.
1957!! James Daly (Tyne's Dad) encouraging us to sit back and light up a CAMEL with the episode...How things have changed.
"Hes also Tim's dad too."-🤔🖥🌐..
Originally presented on CBS as "HARBORMASTER" in the fall of 1957, for the same sponsor (R.J. Reynolds). For some reason, Reynolds took the show to ABC in January 1958, continuing it under a different title. This was originally presented as a "HARBORMASTER" episode on November 14, 1957, and is a June 1958 repeat.
Jesus, I want a camel right now!
I'd walk a mile for a Camel.
Thank you so much for uploading the whole episode ! My first chance to see this late 50s half hour TV drama. I wonder why they changed the name of the series from "Harbourmaster" to " Adventure at Scott Island". The title "Harbourmaster" is much more dramatic. So many familiar faces: Barry Sullivan, Paul Buke, guest star Bruce Gordon, John Daly (doing the Camel commercial). etc.
That's James Daly.
@@prycerobertson4695 John Daly...James Daly...in the grand scheme of things does it really matter? To quote the immortal Bard, a rose by any other name would be smell as sweet.
Wendell Niles, announcer.
Stan Sawyer speaks for Salem.
"Bruce Gordon better known as Frank Nitti
on the Untouchables TV series."-🤔🖥🌐..
They used the same theme song as their sister show "Sea Hunt"
The two sound quite similar, but not quite the same theme.
Larry Hagman appeared in a episode
Looks like where they filmed The Perfect Storm.
It was.
"Adventures at Scott Island....
Starring Barry Sullivan as the Harbourmaster(alternate title),
and Paul Burke."-🤔🖥🌐..
do u have other eps ?
Does anyone recognize the filming location of the harbor?
Most of the the "harbor" scenes appear to have been shot around Beacon Marine in Gloucester. The closing harbor scene is in Rockport harbor. Just found out about this production after watching "The Love Letter" (which was shot mostly in Rockport).
Any more of these?

There's some evidence this is the network rerun of June 22, 1958, which would make the rerun promoted at the end the last on ABC.
