      I take the more neutral view myself.
      AI can make life better, but it also has the potential to make things worse - say, for example, a country like china or russia or iran decides to use it as a weapon. Of course, the US will be using it as a weapon too.

    3:10 I really liked the breakdown of how the PHP web part of the app is interacting with Python, and how they're working together to get the result to the end user. It's like the PHP web part makes it accessable and Python does the heavy lifting with AI. Thanks for the vid, I'm working on some django/python web apps atm so i found this very relevant

    Best arguemwnt against the communist/socialist fears of U.B.I. I have ever heard. As a tech loving conservative, I have understood the eventual need for it for a long time, but it has grated against my ideology. Well done sure.👍

    I agree with you. The way is a universal base income. What job do you think will survive the longest? I think it will be games, movies and stories. Something that require a certain creativity in order to be exciting for people.

    • @StefanMischook
      @StefanMischook  7 лет назад +6

      Creative jobs will last the longest. But even that will go sooner or later. I actually believe the fundamental structure of society will change accordingly. It is far bigger than what most people understand - especially me! :)

    • @5meo
      @5meo 7 лет назад

      i agree. i think it's going to go a lot further than many people realise. it won't even just be the structure of society that changes, but our own sense of who and what we are, the reason we are here (if any). questions of where we derive or construct our meaning.
      it might take a while for us as a species to learn to deal with this, if there was no need to "earn a living". literally every single thing we do could be purely for our own satisfaction or that of the people we care about. it sounds very appealing - a life driven entirely by our own creative energy and our ability to direct that energy into anything we want.

      100 years ago. 80% of people working on farms. Car comes along. What are we going to do with all those people when we are going to need only 5% of population in agriculture? We offloaded hard work on machines now we are going to do the same with decision making.

      Dead wrong. At least in the US. Socialist and Dictatorial governments talk like this because they need to control their sheep. In the US we have the Democrat party openly promoting socialism and it is sad that young people are being fed this propaganda in universities. Look at Venezuela and tell me if socialism works. Don't waste your time thinking about this subject.

    A little off from topic.....as technology increases and AI comes to action, is it possible that we could ran out of resources like electricity and natural resources some day. do we need to make a balance between nature and our resource consumption in per unit of time.

    • @StefanMischook
      @StefanMischook  7 лет назад +3

      No chance of that. Resources are plenty and recyclable. With robotics and Ai, all of a sudden many recycling options become super viable.

  • @antonjw
    @antonjw 7 лет назад

    I think the truth is that technology will be both dystopian and utopian. But the biggest factor will be where you live.
    For example, currently if you live in northern Pakistan, southern Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Libya or Somalia, and you were asked "is Skynet coming?", then you would probably answer that it is already here.
    Death by drone is real, and those things will soon be self-selecting their targets (AI) rather than being navigated remotely back at base.
    Whereas if you live in an affluent country, you are going to see an absolute abundance of new capabilities and opportunities open up through the use of AI, like nothing we have yet seen before.
    (AI tech won't be perfect here either, and is affecting our democracies right now, but there are always problems to be solved and those issues in themselves do not amount to a dystopia).

    It's gonna take a lot longer than five years for me to trust Mr. Robato over Billy Bob McProle. Just because you can do something doesn't mean we're gonna letcha. People forget that a lot of solutions to problems caused by technology are manageable through the legal system and society. Kinda the point of America...

    I don't think AI can replace programmers. AIs themselves require maintenance and bug-fixing since they are still created by people. AIs also need upgrades which can only be done by programmers ( and engineers obviously ). Correct me pls.

    • @StefanMischook
      @StefanMischook  7 лет назад

      Eventually Ai will. But it could be 25years from now. Who knows exactly. But when that happens, Ai and robots will do just about everything. Programmers will be among the last jobs Ai can do.

      The 20 richest families own ~60% of the planet.When robots can replace workers and AI runs everything the mega rich elites will exterminate at least 90% of the human race as excess to requirements useless eaters. They won't spare coders in fact they will be the first to be exterminated as they might be able to figure a way to wreck the robots and AI with bad codes in the right place .,The technology we make for the mega rich is the technologic trap that will be used to make our own extermination camps wake up smell the coffee its now easier to exterminate a million people than to control a million so why would they let us not so rich live if they can have everything in a AI robotic run world which is near at hand maybe a few years away .Look the UN agenda 21 and UN agenda 30 plans its all there how they plan to depopulate planet earth to save mother earth Gaia so only mega rich will survive to see that nervana and the herds of serfs will be culled is the plan

    I think if general AI is at all possible, it will come much sooner than we think, and practically all jobs will be lost over couple of years. Every job that is being replaced by automation is pushing everyone towards professions where much more talent is required. But what if you are not a MIT grade material ? What if you are 'dumb as a post'. What then ?
    I don't think government is gonna take care of anyone unless you want to live like a bum. The alternative is to pack your stuff and go rural, go farming. I know it's not sexy, but at least you will have some food on a table when the day X comes.

      Oasis S. I think it will like car. Like when its exclusive when it first come out, but as time people will find out how to produce it with lower cost until its affordable for masses. But also noted it still depends on the regulation that government (or these wealthy people) made towards ai.

  • @TheddunTOSS
    @TheddunTOSS 7 лет назад

    Well, if you look at the writings of Karl Marx basic income in an extremely industrialized and automated society is exactly what he meant by communism. What you had in the forma UdSSR (and some other states) was Leninism or Stalinism. Lenin adapted Marx theory of how a revolution could happen and kickstart communism. Instead of highly trained workers in an highly advanced country which destroy capitalism in only a few years (with more liberty and productivity than capitalism!) Lenins vision was that untrained workers and even peasants in a rather poor country under the authotarial rule of an educated party will destroy capitalism in a slow process. Surprise. That never worked out. However, one should not forget, that there were some areas and timeframes in which the UdSSR did not so bad, considering how backwards Russia was at the beginning of the 20th century. Not to mention how good China does at the moment. And no, they have not dropped the idea of communism. Everything they do is actually an okay idea within Marxism, however, not Leninism or Maoism.

    Cool video but you lost me when you got into economics. We understand economics differently, there are just a lot more variables to the idea of "universal basic income" and the reality is greed. Humans are consumers and we have been trained to be consumers and the greed to want bigger, better, shinny, prettier, and also AI automated tools lol the irony right ? hahahah A consumer will not be content with a flat universal minimum wage, humans have egos, desires, goals, strengths, weaknesses, pride, pretty much every emotional state that will destroy any idea of universal basic income. UBI will always be a socialist viewpoint my friend, I know its not what you are thinking, but its the truth. I like your videos the python power in 2018 is good :)

      Truth is Treason You’ve heard of crypto currency right? It’s decentralized and finite. Which means it can’t be inflated the same way fiat(dollar) is. It is the future of money. If you aren’t aware then maybe you should stick to subjects you understand.

    • @hav2win
      @hav2win 6 лет назад

      What currency is crypto based on? Why is one currency more valuable than another? Why do metals have value? Crypto has competition, which one is more valuable and why. Just as quickly as Bitcoin has gone up it can crash even more quickly if people lose faith in it. You may not have thought thru some very important factors. And don't listen to a bunch of idiots on forums.

    • @LainSerrato1
      @LainSerrato1 6 лет назад

      i've studied crypto currencies for the past few years now. Most are just get rich quick schemes for their founders, but some are revolutionary new technologies. They are entirely based on faith, just like any other currency in the world period. They offer anonymous exchange(which i believe is actually a huge flaw) and they are based on peer to peer transactions. Instead of a centralized institution and 1 or 2 computers and a human being completing your transactions, which usually takes 2-3 or even 7 busines days, a series of computers varifies these transactions instead which only takes a few minutes. In the united states or Europe where the currencies are typically dependable, cryptocurrencies aren't as useful because our money isn't that volatile and its pretty reliable. However in other countries where the currency isn't as reliable(Mexico, Venezuela) crypto currencies are the way to go, mainly because it can be used anywhere in the world. Understanding how the world is changing is key to understanding crypto currencies. I think its funny when people knock them without even knowing what they are. Its typically americans such as myself and don't understand because they are so detached from the problems of the majority of humanity.
