What some people don't realize, is that some situations are truly disasters for new players even if more experienced players can see an easy way out of it.
I am really glad that the changes you made to your channel are working out. About a year ago I watched all kinds of Total War RUclipsrs, but they all kind of blend in together and I don't really enjoy that kind of content anymore. "EXTREME HARDCORE BATTLE" there, only Warhammer stuff there, etc. But your channel is better than ever before and I really enjoy it. Thank you for the great content.
Hey man I've been watching your videos for quite some time now and feel like you're a lot happier today, compared to like 6 months ago, when you seemed to be just bitter and cantankerous and so on. Glad you aren't like this anymore:)
Teutonic Order campaign is one of the hardest in all of the Total War games in my opinion. My first try was bad as well, but i lost no starting position. On the other hand, i couldn't effectively push forward, because i tried to conquer Poland fast, but had to withdraw because Lithuania was pushing me to hard in the east. I underestimated Lithuania. In my second try, i focused everything on Lithuania and used Armies composed of heavy spears with big shields, because of all of the missile units Lithuania had, combined with as many foot archers i could get and a smaller, heavy cav contingent. Worked quite well. Pikes aren't bad as well, if you put them in the same spot as the Order Spearmen, so they can benefit from the shields of the latter. Otherwise Lithuania just shot them to pieces before their small amounts of infantry engaged me. Samogitian Axemen are hell, the Prussian Archers are very good against them though. This campaign though is still very dangerous. But more because of the diplomatic relations. Novgorod is allied with Denmark. Teutonic Order is at war with Novgorod, thus Denmark might join, especially if the Holy Roman Empire is weak in this campaign. But Denmark is also allied to Poland. And if Denmark goes to war against the Teutonic Order and Poland decides to join as well against the Teutonic Order, the latter is totally fucked. Especially if Poland decides to ally with Lithuania, as they did in both my campaigns. This could become an even larger fuck up if is plays out like this, compared to the start of the video.
Are you kidding me, the Teutonic Order has one of the best unit rosters in all of M2TW and starts with a very strong army. If you want a real challenge try playing that same campaign with the Mongols (preferably on Very Hard difficulty). Basically you start without any useful troops while everyone else is strong as fuck so you can't attack anyone, you can only capture a bunch of villages and towns, it takes forever to get any sort of decent units while the Teutonic Order is already loaded with late-game super heavy troops, and your king's purse is -3000 per turn. On the other hand, it was definitely my favorite campaign (and I played about 30).
I love it that, even though you're a beast in this game, you are pretty humble about it. You get an absolute fuckup, or even a deliberate one, and you still say "I can see how this might have happened, and hopefully the guy can get a second chance. Even if the second chance fails, it's all about practice, trial and error, and keep moving on and having fun with the game.". It's pretty inspiring for a beginner to intermediate player, such as myself, or for someone that just bought the game. Keep it up!
Yeah, but you could have a pretty easy game with them. Now Pol/Lith are really strong, and I expect them to DOW you pretty quickly. Haven't tried them yet this patch, but I'm assuming the problems are all basically "Pol/Lith did that"
@@emperorcaesar4311 the prob this patch, is danzig spawn and declare war on TO and poland get a event where they can help danzig. making TO life harder.
I've been playing a campaign as Novgorod on VH/VH. Lithuania , in my opinion, is the hardest faction to fight in Medieval 2, perhaps after the Mongols in vanilla. No other faction has given me grief, well more precisely, no other faction has actually managed to capture any of my settlements. Their campaign AI is noticeably different than any other campaign AI, preferring guerrilla warfare over just attacking you randomly, they'd draw your army out into their territory, then once it's isolated, completely surround you with smaller stacks until they outnumber you and you're unable to defeat them. They also prefer outsmarting the enemy by using spies to open gates over besieging. Their armies likewise are mostly horse archers and skirmishers, which are the hardest things in the game to fight. They are way harder to beat than the Teutonic Order.
indeed lithuanians fought allot of mongols and tartars and learned skirmish and cavalry tactics from them heavily armoured teutons were always getting ambushed and picked apart from range
i play lithuania on VH/VH and beat it and yes is hardest - first they got surround by other faction which is suck -second they seem lack a technology compare to other faction because they can't build any high tier city/castle and also gunpowder (until they covert to catolic ) yeah that mean i need to beat a campaign as earliest as possible i tend to make allies with novgorod first and then crush teutonic asap also poland (which way more harder because they got better missile cavalry) tbh i like lithuania unit better than teutonic because they lack a missile cav in a early game.
playing as denmark, lithuania was a pain in the ass. after i took reval from them, they kept attacking my armies around the area. being denmark, most of my armies are made of heavy infantry, which was terrible against Lithuania's skirmishers. i lost 5 generals to them over 30 years. but after 20 years of planning, i wanted to take psykov from them with 1800 men, because they had 1000. everything was going well, my army was on the way there, camping by the lake side. when suddenly a storm came out of nowhere and killed 600 of my men. bloody hell. nonetheless, i had a draw with Lithuania, but was forced to leave early because the Teutonic order wanted to capture Riga. in the end, Novgorod took Psykov from me, after all my hard work. :(

Teutonic campaign might be my favorite. Playing an interesting HRE (vh/vh) campaign currently. Short objective is to defeat Denmark. I immediately began invading the northern rebel provinces and made an alliance with Norway. Denmark responded to my actions and we fought a couple of battles against them. I then began hitting their lightly defended settlements using spies and ships. This threw their armies into disarray. I took the capital and their last settlement in the immediate area. The Danish armies began retreating to their northern provinces up by Finland and Novgorod. Three almost full stacks began the long march back through my territories, Poland, Lithuania and the Teutonic order lands. I figured they were as good as dead when I got the message they were at war with Lithuania. A half stack even retreated into Sweden to wait in vain for the Danish Navy. About 10 settlements short of the victory goal I choose to not destroy them. I began involving myself financially in the Teutonic Orders wars. Buying settlements from Poland and Novgorod.
This is defo one of my favourite series you've got. Even as a seasoned TW player (About 600 hours in Medieval Total War II and Rome Total War combined) You teach me new stuff, and I usually play on VH/VH.
Teutonic is probably my favorite of the kingdoms expansion because its so fuckin rough, all the factions have good units and lithuania just eats up troops and spits them out. Top content.
I think the people who are new to TW and send you the save files din just want to have an unfucked campaign to play, rather they also want to learn more about the game by watching the vid. I sure learned a lot from this series.

'No! Please pay the ransom'... 'nah' lmao! Side note I found when I started MTW 2 that you could expand and get big armies really quick but then it always bit you in the backside.
This is gonna be fun. Vanilla Teutonic Order is my favorite faction since each of its mid- to end-tier units counts for 3-4 of the enemy when autoresolving, so it forces you to manually fight because autoresolving usually guarantees defeat as you're utterly outnumbered.
By the way, loving this series. It actually got me to reinstall Medieval II. Haven't played that in years but seeing you save some campaigns got me the itch.
It's really cool how you turn those campaigns around! On the other side it's kinda sad that the solution is usually to use cheesy tactics the ai can't properly deal with. Feels like the best way to beat the enemy is to abuse some bugs in the ai.

Legend I have a campaign that I think is about to become a disaster but it's past the 200 turn mark on Stainless Steel and I'm not entirely sure about the settings. Is this something you'd want to look at or is the fact that the campaign is beyond victory conditions (in terms of turns) a non-starter for you?
I only really played medieval 2 because I saw someone else play it. I'm at war with almost everyone who's left and I still haven't killed the Mongols and it's already the late campaign.. lmao it annoyed me so much.
If you understand how to do something, it's sometimes difficult to understand how someone else doesn't. I think that's why there's inquisitors accusing campaigns of being fake disasters, they simply can't understand how someone would be able to fuck up that bad without doing it on purpose. Or they're trolls.
Ik this is 9months old atw but for anyone who likes campaigns and has trouble with overly aggressive AI, I've been able to successfully BUY OFF aggressive factions by offering tribute. By Tribute I mean , say you see an army coming up towards your land, and ur afraid they'll declare war. Which sucks if ur already fighting a war. (The AI knows this and that's y they do it). Well. Give them money. Use diplomacy to offer regular payments. I usually do anywhere from 300-500/turn for say .. 5 turns. So it totals a few thousand but paying a few hundred a turn has SAVED my campaigns, and bought me time to shuffle forces, (instead of going negative training more) win territory, and even win an entire war. And then be prepared for the invasion. What happens is the AI accepts the payments as a 'gift'. And since declaring war auto cancels tributes, they realize they won't get their money unless they leave u alone. I've had factions sometimes invade a few turns before tribute ends, but overall I've SEEN armies turn around 9\10 times (I usually use a combination of diplomatic deals to not even pay for it w my own money lol i.e Sell trade or map info to a neutral for 200/turn for 5 turns. Then Buy off an aggro faction for 200/turn for 5 turns).
This add-on is strange AF. Lithuanians have Tartars in their ranks and the German Teutonic Order has some kind of Romanian accent or whatever that's supposed to be. It's definitely neither German nor Slav. The map also looks quite weird. Those peninsulas in today's Poland also look different IRL.
Has anyone had a problem with the archers on the walls, where you tell them to run and they just stay there for like 3 minutes before getting slaughtered? It's infuriating to have my archers die due to this bug.
yeah its a bug. Its happens because of a conflicting order. If they're on fire at will, turn it off. Sometimes they get stuck trying to decide on whether to shoot or run. Turn it off and they'll run, and just turn it back on once they've where they need to be.
@@LegendofTotalWar OK thanks for the tip. I've had defending Citadels where I've lost all of my missle troops on the first wall because they think they're Rambo or something and just stand there getting skewered.
Yo legend I've got a really fucked up campaign that i think people will enjoy watching, but i don't know how to share it with you. How do you share a save file? Maybe do a vid on it and more people like me can share it.
Just commenting on the things you talked about towards the beginning of the video, I really like this series and have been watching each new vid for the last few weeks since realizing you were doing it, and I mean like whole vids, minimal skipping, yea sometimes its on during my own end turns or background noise for fate grand order farming but still. I watch these cuz I enjoy your personality and how you play the game, and on purpose or not the scenarios are fun to see you tackle and showcase various situations that you dont get if you did lets play campaigns all the time like before. My only major criticism is that sometimes you shine too much light on certain topics, take deliberate disasters for example, if you like a scenario of a deliberate one, I at least would be satisfied if you said "I think its on purpose heres why, but I like it so Im going to play it" and leave it at that. Who cares, its your channel and if you wanna do it and its good content, fine by me!
The Title is "Saving Your Disaster TW Campaigns" so its implied its in a situation that needs Legend's expertise to solve. Yes, this does also imply that the disaster is natural, but regardless the point of the scenarios is that the campaign is in a situation where most would fail, and its probably going to be a challenge for Legend. I honestly don't care if there was a small degree of sabotage. When you get campaign fatigue you subconsciously sabotage your own campaign anyways. I'm mostly here to see the situations and how it gets un screwed. So far I've much enjoyed this series more than the other content on the channel. It's probably the new fresh feel that each scenario brings. You never know what to expect.
Records show that monks made heavy use of brothels when the monastic movement was at its height. You does what you does, make your confessions, and get on with building the drainage system. They should get brothels at reduced building time. The laydeez just show up.

What some people don't realize, is that some situations are truly disasters for new players even if more experienced players can see an easy way out of it.

Great defending of Thorn (25:25))!
I'm probably going to do a disaster campaign
If you understand how to do something, it's sometimes difficult to understand how someone else doesn't. I think that's why there's inquisitors accusing campaigns of being fake disasters, they simply can't understand how someone would be able to fuck up that bad without doing it on purpose. Or they're trolls.
46:40 xD. What a struggle.
Awesome as always
But could Legend win against PSG with Olympique Lyonaisse yesterday?
Mangonel are pretty good at defence castles... just saying...
Order Sargeants are so fucking good god damn.
You know you play too much Total War when you're watching this video and try to move the camera with your mouse
General 1: Dies
General 2: "Hold my beer"
Andrew Frank the dead General shall hold the beer? ...
Just kidding!
I've had factions sometimes invade a few turns before tribute ends, but overall I've SEEN armies turn around 9\10 times (I usually use a combination of diplomatic deals to not even pay for it w my own money lol i.e
Sell trade or map info to a neutral for 200/turn for 5 turns. Then Buy off an aggro faction for 200/turn for 5 turns).
Grats on 100k my nigga
omg you said the G word. Really offended me there.
i honestly dont care if the disaster is fake. fake disasters are often the best because they are engineered to be as disastrous as possible
Will you be doing any saving videos on TW Warhammer games in the future?
Sure, if people send me any save files. Not getting anything, which is why I'm not making any content on it.
Who cares if its deliberate or organic, what matters is that i'm entertained.
I should send legend my parent's marriage to see if he can fix that.
wait teutonic have a fuck up save files where lithuania fuck up save files they are hardest. ( you almost 100kSub man congratz.)
Hey. Where can I find the latest stainless steel download for MTW2?
great series!
Yo legend I've got a really fucked up campaign that i think people will enjoy watching, but i don't know how to share it with you. How do you share a save file? Maybe do a vid on it and more people like me can share it.
Kingdoms' campaign rankings:
1. Crusades
2. Britannia
3. Teutonic
4. Americas
CHANGE MY MIND
(My favorites)
1. Britannia
2. Crusades
3. Americas
4. Teutonic
Crusades was the easiest campaing I ever played
Cheese strats are the best strats
How he could lose against the Lithuanians? They have four freaking territories, if you conquer two of them they immediately declare peace.
Some People need play tutorial first, but this battle is intentional made.
Can you please give us a mediafire link to the save games you're using so we can play with you? That would be really interesting.
Around 28 mins in, "We still have to take out the general's bodyguard and they don't break easily" They immediately break. Drinking game it is then, based on the universe be contrary to Legend cuz it's official he gets it wrong every single time heh. Use it to your advantage man, instead of saying you hope soandso breaks, do what you did here and say they won't break easily and cuz the universe always does the opposite... :P
He was talking about the second general.
Thank you for not applying a sense of humour to your post. It's refreshing such literal people exist :P
Happy to help.
I wish the towers gain experience in this game, higher firing rate.
What’s your favourite faction
that Riga settlement is so inaccurate xd
in games like these I want even faster times. Like 10 times or 20 times would be good.
How come you don't use siege towers?
