It gets pretty lonely here with just me & Mr Grady, the twins, Mr Haloren, and Lloyd! Oh yeah and that dude in the dog costume and his butt buddy. Lloyd keeps the booze flowing though!

Nice try. Those are legendary guys with true panache but the true masters of cinema are Kubrick, Hitchcock and Kurosawa. There were none more debonair.

barry lyndon is beautiful, that scene where ryan o neal and marisa berenson cry when the son is dying is so fucking depressing. same w eyes wide shut where tom cruise breaks down near the end. Cant wait for the criterion release. that movie is FINALLY getting the release it deserves w the proper damn aspect ratio.

Joe Smith That's what I want to know. Perhaps she's in a scientology department somewhere being probed and brainwashed.

She's considered lost to the family. Do some research, the stories are easy to find.

I think it's ironic that Stan started off basically as a 'photo journalist'. And by Paths Of Glory, he learned he could make his audience 'experience' the story. I'd say his following movies from there to The Shining were 'experiences' as well. But with Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut, he was falling back to a journalistic way of telling the stories again. The audience were merely watching the characters 'experience' the story. And I think it would've been so much better if Full Metal Jacket did away with Jokers voice over, and instead use it in Eyes Wide Shut for Dr. Bills character. "As Zieglers fine scotch began to curdle on my tongue, I knew he had me. But I also knew I had him. And yet... What did either of us have at this point...?" A lot better than Joker saying how the grunts have become salty and would eat their own guts and ask for seconds.

I disagree. Narration should add information not apparent on the screen and sound. Dr. Bill should show us those emotions and thoughts, not tell us. As for Joker, his narration added details of the battle-field culture, and the way the soldiers thought.

Well, someone faked the moon landing footage. Front screen projection doesn't lie. Who filmed it, Jan?
