Hickok45 videos are filmed on my own private shooting range and property by trained professionals for educational and entertainment purposes only, with emphasis on firearms safety and responsible gun ownership. We are NOT in the business of selling firearms or performing modifications on them. Do not attempt to copy at home anything you see in our videos. Firearms can be extremely dangerous if not used safely.
I remember back in our day, me and Hickok were stationed in the same unit. Conquering Gaul under Caesar's command was truly the highlight of our lives.
lol priceless
D:
+Another 1 What legion did you serve in? I'm a centurio (retired) from the glorious Legio X Gemina myself.
+Another 1 yep! sure was fun, you almost had me there! i was able to get away, though.
I fought in the trojan war with Hickok
"It looks alot like the one I carried in WW2"
You gotta love hickok
Yeah, I'm guessing Hickock was probably in preschool when they dropped the nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
@@underratedcritic1983 He was born in 1950, so probably not.
Yep hickock served in ww2, ww1, the american revolution, he defeated the spanish armada, overthrew the roman monarchy (even though he kind of cheated by using m4a1's and glocks) and wiped out the dinosaurs with his own two trigger fingers.
Lol
he met the cave men
He taught Chuck Norris everything he knows
cheez4me333 Invented fire and led the Crusades!
+cheez4me333 It is mentioned among scholars that the world was created when Hickock fired his first round from a Glock 23.
The way he says it's like the one he had in WWII is so casual and nonchalant it almost doesn't even sound like a joke.
Life is good…and so is Hickok. 😄
Yeah, it really confused me. I thought he was serious.
Hickok45 is just awesome. Whatever he shoots or does, it is informative and funny. Also his shooting is great.
True dat.
The .45 ACP is not a screaming round, of course, but it's the angle of the camera that makes the round appear so slow. BMG .50 Cal rounds going up into the air at night appear slow, too, if you've ever seen footage of tracers being shot up into the air. It's the camera angle.
If only the Tommy had been chambered for the 38 Super...... Easier to handle, penetrate a car door, wear out a 9mm MP 40, carry more rounds and far more bang for the buck, or pound...... The Grease Gun would be a double joy...
It is a beautiful firearm and I remember serving with you in WWII even though I was only a few months old when the war ended! Love your dry humor and all of your gun reviews. Would love to own a Thompson semi but both my gun safes are too full at this time!
I can actually see the .45 slug before it hit the cinder blocks.
@Sock Cucka yeah I can imagine how impossible it is to hit moving objects from far away
Unpopular opinion maybe but this is my favorite Thompson configuration
That is a beautiful gun. Such a rich history.
Somebody who is 30 years too young to have served in WWII and assumes a certain level of intelligence and sense of humor in his audience. :-)
10 year old comment. But Hickok...my friend..you can't expect intelligence from people. Especially nowadays 😂😂
My sentiments exactly 💯, he'd have to be at least about 100 years old in 2025 to have fought in WW2, and since this clip is 11 years old, he really looks good for 90, lol
I still enjoy watching his shows, although in this one I would have liked to see him OPEN UP with that Thompson replica on full automatic, that's when the fun begins....
Yeap. He's too young to be I. Ww2 or Korea. Maybe Vietnam.
Definitely Vietnam, if he served at all. I believe he probably did.
Hickok did you happen to meet our first president during your service in the American Revolution?
ramiroisram Yes, just briefly, and I was quite impressed!
+Martin .Luther you are genius
I'm always surprised how many firearms companies are from Massachusetts, considering guns are as popular as the plague here.
+HourlyB Goes back to the 1800s when even the Northeast was still part of a "Free Country."
+hickok45 hey don't knock the Northeast too too hard, Vermont is as free as it gets for gun laws, it's just most of our neighbors.
+hickok45 do you use the semi-automatic or the automatic thompson?
+hickok45 New Hampshire still pretty much doesn't care, live free or die
+hickok45 New Hampshire still pretty much doesn't care, live free or die
I like watching this old timer shoot. He's so outgoing and non serious about it all and has a good time. I also like his sarcasm. These videos are fun to watch.
He's also a damn good shot too!
I finally found myself in the right place to own an original war used one and what a fantastic piece of history it is as well as a great time to use at the range.
God damn, some of these commenters. They wouldn't know Hickok's sarcasm if he added a sarcasm disclaimer after every remark...
Lmao, nailed it...
uberLejoe especially him saying its a "pretty gun"
YAH REMNANT I dont know man, I see the Thompson Sub Gun as a thing of beauty. Like a Garand or the Browning 1918.
Kein Hamutov thank you I've been trying to think of the Browning 1918 for a while, dunno why I couldn't think of it I had the image in my head
Oh Hickok45's dry humor! I love it! It doesn't really fly up in the North East though haha
No, he is joking, if you watch more of his videos you will see this is his type of humor
I bought and still own an Auto Ordinance 1928 version I got back in 1985. It is an awesome gun and my all time favorite. From Combat, Kelly's Heroes, and so many other TV shows and movies. Truly find to shoot and just too damn cool! This is awesome to watch.
10 years late but I still remember it like it was yesterday, storming Normandy with you 55 years before I was born 🫡 glad you made it here brother
I remember when I tested the Thompson, I was suprised how heavy it is compared to the most firearms from WWII era, even heavier than PPSh-41. As for the precision, it's quite good and stable.
Dang hickok i didn't know that you were in ww2. I respect you some much, thank you for your service.
Only in my dreams. Wait a minute, guess I could not dream very well until I was actually born. :-)
I know, right? For the longest time, I thought he was a gun enthusiast. Thanks hickok
Look at the shell casing at 5:36, it just somehow flings itself upright, looks strange.
I love the videos hickok!
:0
I love your videos...my dad had the STEN in RAF Regiment service out in Palestine during 1946-48; his eldest brother, my Uncle Earnest was a battery seargent major in the British Royal Artillery (was at Monte Cassino) during g WW2 and had a Thompson. As a RAF range officer / instructor subsequently, I'd LOVE to get my hands on these on a range. Beautiful. And thank you so much - you lucky so and so!😉
this guy could hit a mosquito in mid flight I swear
he's an amazing shot and very humble.
Lol
nothing says America like a Tommy Gun and a 1911
+Josue Guzman A Tommy and .45*
Average Asian a 1911 is a 45 lol yes i know they make em in other calibers
Average Asian i learned something new lol
Learn something new everyday lol
Nothing says America like an explosion
Common fact is that Hickok45 actually invented the gun and sold the patent to the Chinese.
Evidence pls
he invented gun powder too! he had free time after perfecting the bow and arrow!
also he invented the fire
Mans deadass invented the spear
@@Will-cy1mk woooosh
I just shot a M1A1 today on a staff range day and it was really enjoyable. In full auto it pulled up and to the right on me a bit. After my second mag I squared up a bit and held it tighter and I could get good groupings with short bursts. You are right when you say its a beautiful firearm.
Hickok45 always appreciate your videos! Your level headed, even handed reviews are refreshing! I enjoy your sometimes silly humor and the way you laugh at yourself. It's easy to see why I easily spend hours watching your videos! Please know you are appreciated and keep up the good work!
I love ww2 weaponry and this gun is my favourite
Check out the Suomi kp-31. Beautiful firearm.
25k-30k? Wow, so affordable! Just put away like $2 every pay check, and you'll have one in no time.
You can find them for 17 to 18k.
Or you can get a full auto reising fir 6k. That's a 45cal subgun too
@@skylerslack12 The semi auto SBR's can be bought for 1300-1500 without the cost of the stamp which is another 200. It can be done if you have a wife that is amazing enough to let you spend 2,000 on a range toy.
I found one for 2k
1200 hundred
I wish this dude was my grandpa...
Same my pa wanted to go to the Vietnam war
bill j
I wish I was this dude
I love the Thompson. Very strict gun laws this side of the pond so I have to settle for the airsoft versions and under-over 12gauge. Thanks for bringing these classics to life for us.
Man hickok45, great job on this video AND that's a beautiful repro of the WWII classic submachine gun, just beautiful on that SBR!
thats so cool that u can see the bullets hit the big propane tank
Look how green is his yard! He feed the plants with soda every day!!
It's got what plants crave! ;)
Mountain Dew!
2:50 really weird how you can actually see the bullets in the air
wtf! just like quake 1!
Low FPS
You age amazingly you just said you were in World War II which makes it that you are in your 90s and plus I respect every veteran with the highest respect possible.
His cropping is incredible! With obvious army experience he makes it look so easy.
yeah he served in World War 2 Korea and Vietnam he was a Recon combat Clerk
the character from Black Ops original one when he went to talk to President Kennedy about forming a special ops group he's the guy it was based on saw his picture on the wall when I was in basic training used to call him double 45 Hickok because he carry 2 45
teddy two guns gaming lol he is a retired school teacher lol
WW2... haha - Hickok45 is way too old to have served in WW2. Perhaps he refers to the Spanish-American war. Did not know they had Thompsons then.....You learn somthing ever day around Hickok45 ;-)
cfolman he was joking and making fun of his age
AstroPictures this guy was joking too.
George Luz oh ok (your my favourite character btw)
I would like to see the M3a1 (grease gun) or is that impossible to get ahold of?
Your videos are great, Hickok45. You're a damn good shot as well! Probably all the practice from all the wars you were in! Keep the videos coming, please!!
hickok45, this weapon was used during World War 2 the soldiers from the 82nd and 101st airborne divisions used this weapon for close up assaults against the germans in Normandy, France and all across Europe. The Colt 45 1911 pistol was sidearm and M1 Garand was secondary weapon within the US Army Infantries and units during WW2.
Guys read the description, he wasn't in WWII.
Odd how some of the greatest guns from America come from Massachusetts...
And ct
Max Porter Its a conspiracy by GOD
0:38 You were in WWII?
Yes, and it was quite a piece of magic, especially since I was not even born yet. :-)
hickok45 That is what i thought, lol
+hickok45 Were you in the military?
It's gonna be sad when the last soldier from WW2 dies, like the last survivor from Titanic died.
+Mike Wright true
Just wanted to post something to you. I have watched many of your videos and although i am not a "gunny" and have not fired any kind of firearm since my early twenties i have always been impressed with your emphasis on gun safety and responsibility.
My daddy was Navigator on the AH-12 Haven hospital ship in the Korean War...said his room was stacked full of Thompsons and M2 carbines that came in on helicopter litters with dying and otherwise messed-up 1LTs. He used to shoot at flying fish off the bow while under way with them to blow off steam and entertain the nurses.

A $1,000 home defense gun?
didn't the thomspon fire with an open bolt?
Yes the original did use an open bolt, I noticed that in this video too. This remake has an updated closed bolt system, and with other modifications. Great replica though!
oh that's good :) and yes you can hardly tell it's a replica! they did a great job recreating this icon.
WVgregWV
Extremely to the point where even an idiot gang member could do it. Hence why it is illegal to make or sell any semi auto with an open bolt.
The old man can shoot. I like that he calls his targets first, just like basketball.
It's pretty cool he is a WWII vet and still in such great shape! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and videos!
He was trolling,he was born in 1950
lol he said everyone should have a tommy gun... its only $25,000 to $30,000
For a a full auto tompson yeah it's about what most make in a years salary, they are not cheap at all lol. The new semi autos are still made by the original manufacturer Auto ordinance, they are really nice, I've let 2 go out of my sights that I should have bought, really want a 1927 with a 50 round drum, still costs about $1800 new lol
You were in world war 2?
Menace II Society AND the Revolutionary War!
hickok45Your a legend! what do you recommend a 9mm semi auto Mp5 or a model 1887 bootleg shotgun? two very different guns but would like your opinion!
you were not going to tell stories and you were in wwll???
Sarcasm, you know what that is?
+hickok45 are you a veteran of ww2 or Korea?
I would have believed Vietnam, maybe Korea but WW2? haha Kickok, you dont look that old.
You think? :-)
hickok45 have you had any reliability issues with it; any failures to feed, fire or extract and eject?
I rented the full auto version in Vegas. I will never forget that experience.
I liked seeing the rounds in the air (cinder block shots) . The 45 ACP and the iconic pistol and all of its short comings is my favorite for sure..
You need a giant mutated ant to shoot at with that thing!
(reference to THEM!)
+ForkliftJoe Good job with the movie reference. That was the first horror film I ever saw, when I was at summer camp.
+ForkliftJoe LOVE that film. Been meaning to get the new blu-ray release.
MURICA!
You should really get a better sound recorder... every gun sounds the same in your videos
Because in real word most guns sound pretty much the same
No microphone could accurately record a gunshot and no speaker could accurately play a gunshot. Much too loud.
***** you are right i've never heard a gun in real life but everything is the same in the vids.
LS6CamaroA4 well in other youtube videos they do sound diffrent
WomackNLD that's because they put fake sound effects and enhancements
It's awesome that at 3:00 you can see the bullets fly :)
"Lets go to the gong" always my favorite hickok you are the man 👍
WWII? How old are you?
Hickok does not age.
+David Ross the wolverine of the firearms world
it would be strange for some who fought in WWII to like guns
Rhees Cowley maybe he's not from the states
kostis metallo ...what kid
He's too young to be a WW2 vet.
he's joking about his age
let the man have a lil fun =P
hickok45 - you have one guess which year hickok45 was born in. If you get it wrong your handle will be changed to dumbass14.
back in wwll everything was different and kids at the age of 13 and 14 would join the army
jj jr.
Oh dear. Math not your strongest point? That would make Hickok45 87 years old. Does he look or handle weapons like an 87 year old? Or does 69 years old seem more reasonable? Think you've just won dumbass14.
Hate to say it, but much like most of the german weaponry the MP-40 was better.
Thats a overstatement .. .They where able to make more because it was easy to produce. But that doesnt make them better... The MP40 had problems with overheating, and a risk of burning the soldier because it was completely made of metal. It jammed a lot and the range wasn't all that great ether. And to top it all off. The mp40 is a damn ugly girl :P
spitcross
The only way an MP-40 would jam is if you were an idiot and holding onto the mag like it was a grip.
Just because something is easy to produce doesn't mean its a bad weapon either. There were plenty of french weapons that were complex and difficult to make with horrible reliability issues.
The MP-40 was more accurate, lighter, and could be made cheaply and easily (which is actually a plus).
Never heard about overheating issues with the MP40.
Still, the germans had some of the best weapons. They INVENTED the assault rifle (and made useable rockets), and had the best tanks to boot.
American weapons were very good as well, but the thompson was heavy, expensive to make, and had a lot of recoil which is one of the factors which kept it from being as accurate as the MP40.
bulbinking
damn right. what overheating. sucks.
"Better" at what? ...being a wimpy 9mm? ....having no class? ...looking like something found at the bottom of a toolbox? You're right, much better!
NotElmerKeith
I can say no overheating with MP40 not too much. there is no doubt. the only, is not only, but most matter advantage is the smaller caliber and easier to maintain and use. i can say more, but both that SMG are from second WW2. and i don't know which purpose about this.
Incredible marksmanship, even more so than usual!
I vow to get this gun before I die. I've finally found an M1 Garand selling for pretty cheap at my local gun store I have my sights set on right now, but the M1 A1 Thompson is what I've always wanted. WW2 was an incredibly fascinating time for new weapons technology being introduced for the first time in warfare which caused so much diversity of guns and calibers being used on the battlefield at once.
I thought they decided to change to the grease gun.
They tried as the m1a1 is expensive to make however the m1a1 was still around by the end of the war and had not been completely phased out because the grease gun came into service in 1943
and we sold lots to the ruskies
They did end up making them instead of the Thompson since the Thompson cost about $30 to make while the Sten cost about $3 dollars to make and they were faster to produce since they used stamped steel.
Wait, what. This guy fought in World War 2????!??!?!
He says that about every war hahaha
Bill, above, says it's a joke, but i might believe Hickock45. Give him a birth-year of 1928, which would have made him 17 in 1945 (the youngest he could be if his WW2 claim is plausible, unless he lied about his age to get in, which a lot of guys did). He'd be 86 in 2014. Does this guy look like a youthful 86? Could be. Could the video be a few years old? In other videos, he talks about duty-carry of S&W wheel-guns while in law enforcement in the 1970s. Anyway, he says he was in WW2, & i won't call him a liar.
Nicholas Blaireau He's not lying, he's joking.
Really? Man, some of you guys need to get a sense of humor, or better math skills, or both....
Yeah he also fought in ww1, the civil war, the Mexican American war, and the war for independence
the one who you have fought with in the World War II ????????????? ...... This means that you are more than 90 years old ....
In a q and a video he said he never served in any war, and he just says that to make fun of his age.
Techically speaking, he could've been 86 at the time of the time of the video, and still have served in WW2. If he went to Japan in 1945 between July (when the video was filmed) and September (when the war ended), and assuming he had just turned 18 and enlisted... He could've served in WW2 and not even almost 5 years away from 90. Although to be fair, he still doesn't look that old.
This are the maths:
55 years from 1945 to 2000
13 years from 2000 to 2013
18 years for the minimum enlisting age
55+13+18= 86
And he could've served for more than a month (albeit in the last months of WW2 where most of the fighting consisted of bombing the hell out of Japan)
scotianbank
Officially the war was not "over" until 31 DEC 1946. That was last date for award of WWII Victory Medal.
2014 -1946 =68 + 22 = 90 22 This is the average age of legal registration in the armed forces.....Egypt above all.
Amr nimo Yeah, the average, but you COULD be 18 and enlist. So your initial comment is still not correct. Him being a WWII veteran DOES NOT mean that he MUST be over 90. Stop it.
I picked up the 1928 version with three 30 round stick mags and the 50 round drum.
What a cool rifle. It didn't come with the 'Third Hand" thing to make
inserting and removing the drum easy. The one I bought is really well made.
All steel. I heard they are now making some with lighter receiver material. Not
100% sure about that one. I always wanted the classic 'Chicago Typewriter"
and finally have one. Had to watch this video to see how Hickok45 liked
one of these. The one in the video
is the WWII or later type and is a bit different looking and
has the shorter barrel with out any cooling fins.
The recoil is non existent since the gun weighs over 12 lbs
with an empty mag. The 1928 has a 16" barrel so it is not considered
a short barrel rifle. Well, time to hop in the Packard with a couple of the
boys and take care of business.
One day I'll have this Thompson , M1 Carbine and M1 Garand!
I actualy liked when you took apart the sten. Kind of cool if you show how your other guns are taken apart for cleaning.
Auto Ordinance was located in West Hurley, NY (about 15 miles north west of Kingston, NY). It was purchased by Kahr Arms in 1999. Since the passage of the New York State SAFE Act in 2013, Kahr Arms has announced it will soon leave New York State. Several other arms manufacturing firms will do likewise, including Remington Arms and Dan Wesson Inc.
Hickcock is sarcastic and ironic and I love him for that
Just came across your channel. I cant stop watchin. My fav show
Me and Hickock were buddies back in the day. Yup him and I were under the command of a guy by the name of Bonaparte. What a real piece of work that guy was.
Feeling that slide lock back is just a subtle shift in the weapons balance. Every good shooter should have that kind of feel for their weapon. ;-D
Love the fun you have while shooting hickok45....Love your vids too
2:53 I love that slow .45acp round. You can literally see it flying through the air. I don't even think that's a vapor trail. I think it's just that slow that your naked eye can see it. Very cool. It may seem counter-intuitive, but I think that can be an advantage. I think that would have more opposing force on a body than a .45 going 1300/fps
I ran up San Juan Hill with Hickock. He was faster than I was, which I was happy about.
Thanks for your service hickok45
My Father may he R.I.P. loved his and his 1911 45 acp. He took them from North Africa and the whole boot of Italy!
Auto ordinance in my opinion one of the best gun companies ever
Thank You Hickok for your service to our country
I bought one of these, got the SBR stamp, (after a 7 month wait), and had it aged by the master gunsmith at Bass Pro Shops. It now looks like the one Tom Hanks used in Private Ryan. SUH-weet! It's as close as you're gonna get to the real thing at a fraction of the cost. Mr. H is right, it's a tack-driver, too.
u were in ww2? man im learning something new everyday
Thats my point. The thompson was made during a period in which it was just after WWI. It isnt a gun made in desperation for quick manufacturing. Its made with the same task of pushing out a large amount of lead, but it wasnt designed with quick manufacturing in mind. Therefore, it is much more aesthetically pleasing because it wasnt designed to be quickly manufactured like the Sten and Mp40 and M3.
That's what I was thinking. You're in amazing shape for a WW2 Veteran, and if so,thanks for the service and sacrifice!
The story about the Thompson firearms is interesting read about United States history . Thanks for sharing this unique experience.
I own the .45acp Thompson M1 SBR along with the .45acp Thompson Commando. I love them more than my AR-15’s 😏 the Commando takes the drums as well. I also own a 1944 model full auto 9mm Sten Gun made in Canada. Nice.
Your sarcasm is awesome! Cracks me up everytime :-)
Hickok has fought in every American war since Bunker Hill
Great sense of humor and darn good shootin
Your vids always cheer me up Hickok, keep up the good shooting.

Right. My friends and I always say things like, "This is just like back when we were in the 'Nam" even though we were all born in 1970 here in the States. He's doing the same thing, just horsing around.
