  • How do you make one of Time's top 10 podcasts of the year with an iPhone and a sponge as your only recording equipment? What makes a conversation interesting to people who can't be part of it? And if you have no mystery to explore, can you draw listeners in with empathy instead? Join us on Tuesday, February 11, at 6:00 PM for this year’s Bernheimer Symposium, "Everything You Always Wanted to Know (But were Afraid to Ask) about How to Succeed In Podcasting Without Really Interrupting Each Other.” Journalist SARAH MARSHALL will join us to talk about her podcast YOU'RE WRONG ABOUT, a show about misremembered history, her lifelong obsession with righting the legacies of maligned women, and how to get your project started when you don't know where to start.
Sarah Marshall has published nonfiction with Buzzfeed, The New Republic, and The Believer, and hosts You're Wrong About, a podcast about misremembered history. Before settling in Philadelphia to work on the podcast full-time, she produced it on the road while working as a traveling journalist, house sitter, and sled dog handler.

You're Wrong About has been a revelation to me. I love how compassionate and smart the show is and how Sarah and Mike are engaging even when the subject matter is tangled and problematic. I feel they are teaching me how to be more of a critical thinker. I could listen to them discuss anything and I truly appreciate this show.

I have the biggest crush on Sarah oh my god. I recently started You’re Wrong About and instantly fell in love with her voice, then her eloquence, then her sociopolitical views and knowledge, then her personality, and now her face. What an amazing human. Seriously her voice is the smoothest, most soothing, most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard

I really admire their dedication to research and how they hit that sweet spot between structure and spontaneity so well. And their friendship and chemistry of course pleasant for us listeners.

I can’t get enough of ‘You’re Wrong About’. The depth, intellect, compassion, and eloquence of Sarah and Michael are all a fantastic betterment to my day, the ways I think and feel about the past, and the ways I digest media and information. Definitely recommend.

I cannot understate how much I've grown to love you're wrong about. I don't know how Sarah and Mike manage to make every topic as engaging and insightful as they, but I always leave their episodes having learned not only the facts of the event they're talking about, but also some greater lesson. They make these far-away, complicated topics so tangible and even if what they're discussing is terrible or the people in it are terrible, they still have such great compassion for everyone.

I just adore Sarah! (And of course, her lovely co-host Matt too). They've both elevated my understanding of how the world really works. It's like piercing the media veil and seeing how all the gears inside are working...often in ways that are horrifying. Their podcast You're Wrong About is some of the deepest political and media education I've ever received.

Matt 😂 but yeah I totally agree. It's the reporting we all need and deserve yet everybody else keeps denying us 💔 love their dynamic as well, it's so endearing 😊

I listened to every one of these podcasts during quarantine 2020, having been a child of the media sensations they covered it complety re metabolized my perceptions of female representation and came out tge other side with a vastly more human slant on myself within our cukture,

Over the past 6 months or so....The You're Wrong About Podcast has become an addiction for me. Its a fantastic Podcast from both Sarah and Mike (neither one looks anything like what I pictured them to look like) but, that doesn't matter...I just wanted to put a face to the voices I'm come to live for every week.

I have a huge crush on sarah by voice and especially with this haircut, also the fact she is so intelligent and funny and recently came out as queer (I'm a bisexual trans man).
I also love michael like a smart older brother type, both of their voices are so soothing while captivtaing. I find they just both have helped me get through a lot these past few years even though now the podcasts have kind of split into their own endeavours.

They try to cover mostly general American issues. They rarely cover issues that only affect the black community, and when they do, they reference their privilege throughout and provide direct source material to encourage listeners to seek out POC voices.

I absolutely love the show but I would agree with you that it would be great if they invited on black experts for some of their discussions.
