Thankyou. I have never thought of using a lock join to finish a round. It should now look a lot neater using that, instaed of trying to snug a reef knot up to finish.
This answered a question I had about attaching the last chain to the first ring. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I also learned a different way than I’ve been doing for joining two threads before starting. I’ve been square knotting them, then tatting over their tails which can leave an ugly color blip and the knot is about the size of a ds. So I’m very glad to learn of this knotless option. Question: at the end of your ring are you adding an extra half stitch to make the ring lie flat? I think that’s what you said but couldn’t see clearly to be sure (old eyes).
Hi Kirsten, I won't reply to your earlier message as you have found the video I was going to suggest you watch! I'm glad it helped you... There is also another way I do that 'join' - I did it with a lock join for this video as that is the way the designer had written her pattern, and we were working together on the tat a long (Harolah's design, my video) There is another way I like to do it - here is the link for the video. Start watching at 5:20 😊 ruclips.net/video/dau08yEpQFE/видео.html To answer your question, sometimes I add an extra half stitch and sometimes I don't. It depends on what I'm making and what thread I'm using ( some threads sit differently) In this video I am adding an extra half stitch to stop the stitches from rolling in and to help the ring sit flat. I hope that helps!
After I make the second set of 10 double stitches in the first chain, do I doin to the picot of the middle of the clover. It looks like the chain needs another thrown ring and then another 10 double stitches to reach the picot. I have been trying all morning to get the pattern from dropbox. I was able to read the first part of the pattern but it cut off and I can't read anything else. I want to make this doily but am having a hard time with just the videos. Thank you so much for your help.
The videos were made as a guide - to help you learn how to follow a pattern and work the techniques - it was never intended that you would just follow the video to be able to make the doily. In saying that, you should be able to access the pattern from dropbox. Maybe contact Harolah and ask her about it. The chain doesn't join to the clovers picot. After the second set of 10ds you need to RW and start the next clover. After completing the second clover, RW again and work your chain, thrown ring (joining back to the first thrown ring) and chain again. I hope that helps!
Very pretty.beautiful design of doily.
Thank you! The design is by Harolah Cheser 😊

Absolutely. Lock joins are awesome; but in saying that, I also like to tie off using a square knot - depends on what I'm making.
Thanks very much for your informative videos they really helps the quality of my tatting.
I'm so glad you are enjoying them! Thank you.
Yay now my last project is complete I can look forward to working on this doily, thanks to you and the designer for sharing your talents 👍👍😁😁😁
That's awesome! I will leave the videos up this time!🤣🤣

Very pretty, can I make that with a needle as well? Do you have a pattern for this Doily?
Yes you can make it with needle. The link for the pattern is in the description box. 😊
May I ask how do you hide the thread of the first row pattern?
Tails at the beginning are hidden by tatting over them. Tail at the end can either be sewn in or you can use the magic thread trick.
