I'm torn between the Fujifilm XH2S and LUMIX S5 ii My ideal shooting will be narrative and more creative motion portraits, do u guys have a recommendation? I love the color science of the Fuji I've seen, but I have full frame glass and have usually shot on said glass. Both look like amazing cameras.
X-h2s has the advantage of uncropped 4k60 and I think it even does 4k120. If those are requirements, I'd get the Fuji. If not, the Lumix has a lot of great features, better low light, and you save $500. Really, I don't think you could go wrong with either. I got the s5ii for my budget, but if the xh2s was $2000 I would have had a lot harder time deciding.
The two reply’s covered it well here. However my opinion is going full frame and having the superior IBIS and video tools like shutter angle, anamorphic support and waveforms makes LUMIX better and to top it off, it’s cheaper. -Dave
Nice content and very nice shots for the commercial. The goal here was to demonstrate you can shoot with the naked camera and get great results with a sub 2k brand new camera. But the S5 mk1 and a Blackmagic Video Assist would've done a good job too, Braw is a slightly better codec, and the bigger screen helps for focus. If that's the type of shooting you're after (manual lenses), i'd grab a second hand S5 mk1 for cheap, and an external recorder/monitor !
Yeah great point. Should have mentioned this shoot didn’t really include any of the new features of the S5ii. The original would have been fantastic on this as well. Obviously we’re playing the RUclips game here talking about a newer camera but hopefully adding value with Chris’s insight as a DP
A external recorder will solve the Pro res issue. The camera at this price and size is everything you need. Rig it up and it is even more solid. If the S5ii evolves it will be difficult for another camera to beat it.
If you want internal ND already have plenty of other camera on the market with that functionality! Those mirrorless camera are still photo camera first! Photographer don’t have the need for internal ND and the form factor doesn’t give too much room for that
Since Lumix s5ii does not have internal timecode synch--did u use Tentacle Sync E Timecode w/Bluetooth devices-wiping out one of ur in camera audio tracks or did you just slate with Filmsticks or whatever? 😎😎
How you were describing the ibis kind of sounds like you were in tripod mode. Theres two different modes you can switch between...and the non tripod mode one is a lot more fluid for handheld.
Hi! I’m here 😅 I’ve hopped around over the years! Started with Kinotika, then hosted for Indy Mogul. Now I’m doing my thing on this channel and my podcast Golden Hour Podcast. I’m building my own personal channel from scratch as well. I love RUclips. Have certainly hopped around though so a valid question lol
Internal ND is incredibly convenient, faster than external, and more compatible across multiple lenses. IBIS, as good as it is on the s5ii, cannot yet mimic a gimbal. It also gets in the way of certain camera movements even when turned off.
And for a deeper, *deeper* dive, here's our FULL review of the S5 II: www.soundstripe.com/blogs/panasonic-lumix-s5-ii-review
Love to see professional videos shot on the S5II!
Honestly this shoot could have been done on the original too! So amazing what’s possible with affordable Cinema Tools these days!
Interested in the S5iix for Full Frame Anamorphic Open Gate!
Same! Also… all black
Yo! Thanks for the shout out! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for sitting and looking pretty!
Freedom reigns!

The color science of Panasonic cameras are generally good too

yeah...but where is the final video?
Stay tuned! We’re still working on the full commercial for soundstripe.

As someone who shoots solely with Lumix cameras and anamorphic lenses, you had me at "Atlas Orion"
Is it pronounced “Oh-Ryan” or “Ori-On”?
@@Soundstripe is there a difference? LMAO

Look at them anamorphies

What happened to the guy at the beginning of this video did his channel die ?

Why would you not shoot raw for a commercial?🤔
Tangential question: How is Tennessee ? I never been
Nice Video!
Btw that's a cool watch that you're wearing Dave. What is it? :D
Were you in the anamorphic mode or open gate 3:2? X
Anamorphic mode! Which is 4:3 in Super35
Did you use the autofocus?
In our fill S5 II review we did! Not in this video because we used manual glass.
Over exposed in only log footage right?
11:00 Your argument is kinda stupid. You can Buy external ND for far less than a good gimble. And they weigh a lot less.
