I don't think you understand what he means by determinism. He is the sole sum of all the DNA in his body (provided by his parents) his personality type, (again inherited) and every minute interaction he's ever had with the outside world, which has then influenced his own outward and inward reactions involuntarily. Everything we do as people is a product of these external factors, we all think we have free will but we don't. For that to exist we'd have to be brains in a vacuum (actually not even brains) just conscious thought.
Sarah EDen I don’t agree. Someone once said that 50% of your words are your own and the rest the product of socialisation. Our prefrontal cortex is what gives us that element of free will that animals don’t have.

I really needed this video, purely for Stef's little pep talk about persevering when your business or idea doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. I've started up my own little business up-cycling clothing, and making hand made items/gifts to promote a heathy, eco-conscious fashion lifestyle. I've worked so hard for months and sometimes i'll be working days and weeks on end and feel like nothing is progressing, and the past couple of weeks I've really felt that. I've felt disheartened and like I'm talking/reaching out to no one and it's really hard to keep the motivation, despite feeling so positively and passionately about what it is I'm doing. This is the exact week I needed to hear this from you Stef, I even shed a tear because I needed someone to tell me to believe in myself, and I wasn't expecting to hear that through a youtube video. It wasn't preachy, it was motivating and exactly what I needed, so, truly, thank you.

I don't comment very often, but I decided to make an exception especially since you didn't have a comment section for so very long. I'm a big fan of your videos. I love the quality of them and your constant efforts into improving them ever so subtly every week. Your success is all down to the long hours you've all put into making these videos, editing them, and creating an actual story out of each of them. It's easy to film a challenge video, make a few cuts and slap on a clickbait title on it. But what you do is an actual art form. It also makes me happy that your hard work and dedication paid off in a way that enabled you to have your own home. It's not often that quality is recognized and awarded, (these days it is stupidity that is praised and that gets the attention of people) and I'm really glad for you that you found the recognition you deserve. P.S. When I saw you Stef in the kitchen at 10.14 and you said you had something new to show us for a second I hoped you were going to shows improved latte art. It’s fine to be proud, lets admit it your probably one of the only youtubers out there who know more about a camera than its on and off button. No one is looking at this and thinking its all luck you can really tell the hard work that went into it, your not just stringing a bunch of iPhone clips together, its a cinematic masterpiece that always comes with narrative beyond the obvious visuals

Thank you for this video. I've been feeling a tad fed up recently. I don't have a career, I haven't been to uni (and I doubt I'm clever enough to either), members of my family are achieving greatly in their careers but then like my husband says to me, I DON'T have to have a career, a job is fine. I know I'm being silly with it, I should take a step back and look at my two amazing sons I've raised, one of whom is at uni now and the other at sixth form doing his A-levels. I guess the hung is for me, is that this is now like my time. I've always put anything I've wanted to do on the back burner so I could be there for my boys, now I've got the opportunity to do what I want to do, I don't know what that is! I started making vlogs this time a year ago, I love doing them but they just don't seem to be very popular but then like you say, "It's not about the numbers, it's about me enjoying making them", I've loved teaching myself how to use the editing software. So, anyway, thank you so much for your little perseverance talk, it's what I needed to hear. Another great video too, as always! 😊

Feel like you need a HR person to tell you that your doing a great job, your hard work is paying off and your really deserve the good publicity. Also that you deserve a vacation after all the hard work with the house and great videos recently. But as you are a youtuber, you don't have a HR person next to you. So here you go - don't feel bad about being proud and take a vacation!
You should be proud! Sure, luck plays a huge part in who we are and what happens to us, but so does hard work. Luck only goes so far in my opinion, and then you have to make concious decisions to grow and evolve as a person.

You should be proud not only are you creating amazing footage every time. You do make folk see thing in a different way. Also other you tubers talk about how amazing your work is and most of all your children will be able to see that you can always be yourself whatever your doing in life. You should be proud! Sure, luck plays a huge part in who we are and what happens to us, but so does hard work. Luck only goes so far in my opinion, and then you have to make concious decisions to grow and evolve as a person.
