Please get him a harness! I’m a dachshund mum and their necks are so fragile that collars can be dangerous! Not being arsey just offering advice as they are such delicate creatures!! George is just like my boy! A silver dapple! 🖤
aolx Ox Honestly before my sister got her shih tzu I never really thought about the whole harness vs collar debate but 8 years and hundreds of walks in I hate seeing dogs being walked on collars alone. I appreciate that for large dogs it can be necessary for control and because they have more muscular necks they can handle it, but for small dogs I completely agree with you, I’d always go for a harness over a collar now. 😊
Agree about the harness!! We just got one for our puppy and he loves it. I didn't realize how bad the collar and leash was for his neck until we switched.
Not sure if anyone has told you this, but make it a point to PET him while he is eating his food. Dogs, especially male dogs, can become very territorial over their food. By petting them, you train them to understand that you are not going to steal their food but merely give them affection
this is actually so important! Especially around kids. But even teaching them to be calm if you take away their food is so important, I probably wouldn't focus on teaching them that around their proper meals, but for example with a chewing bone or something like that :)
I get why RUclipsrs share what they share but the part where you and Hannah were getting annoyed with each other was so relatable it was very refreshing to see, thanks
Grayson with ru is so cute I can’t cope 😭 considering how he struggled at first when Rufus came along , it’s amazing how lovely he has been with little George ❤️❤️ my heart is melting
I wish you would have gotten a rescue with you guys being role models / using your platform for something so important. So many lovely dogs are looking for a forever home. No-one needs breeding at this day and age... As other viewers mentioned, please use a chest harness since the neck is so fragile as well as puppy training for him to socialize and an area in the house where he can go and not be disturbed. Enjoy your dog, it's the best to have one in your life!
George is a lovely dog but please consider rescue dogs, they make amazing pets and desperately need homes too. I have three and they are the most loving dogs, they just needed a chance.
My parents bought a dog when i was 4 years old, now i'm 17 and he's still alive. We absolutely love him and he's part of our family. Congrats on the lovely dog, amazing memories will be made.
Seeing Grayson with George is just soo sweet.Your family is so beautiful! Having dogs (or pets in general) really just turn your world upside down in the best way
My 6-year-old son loved seeing your new pup and thought Rufus was so cute reaching up over the side of the tub to bathe him. Thanks again for sharing your lives with us - even the spats over throwing a stick. Your authenticity is why I keep coming back.
I know you’re probably fed up of puppy tips, but here’s one I learnt the hard way: You need to leave him on his own sometimes, even when you’re in the house, so he learns to be calm on his own and then at times when he has to be left alone. Crate training/some kind of pen is really useful in this respect! Also, go to a puppy training class! He needs to be socialised as much as possible while he is young! ☺️
Laura I agree. Daschunds can become very needy. My sister has one and she can’t go out at all without him stressing and obsessively licking the windows and drooling profusely. Sorry, not so nice to hear but best to train them young
CaliCookie that’s dramatic. Crating is not abuse. Dogs are den animals by nature. If done properly, dogs see the crate as their safe space. It is especially important to crate train puppies if they are prone to destructive tendencies when anxious because they don’t have the ability to ingest foreign objects.
@@MiZzThANGz21 but yet many vets encourage crate training. You teach them that it's a safe. My dog is now 8yrs and I would love to remove his crate but that's the place he will go to when not feeling well or to much going on in the house. It's his space where no one else goes.
@DarleneVeno ...yeah, I mean- it's actually part of a dog's instinctive makeup, to have a "den" to go hide in, or get away, when needed. When done properly, crate training is nothing close to resembling abuse. Sorry @CaliCookie, no offense, but...
Congratulations on your new fur-baby! George is so lovely and the boys are incredibly sweet with him! A couple unsolicited suggestions... using a harness for your lead will help prevent injury to his little larynx. My 9 year old Maltipoo uses one all the time. But when a puppy is learning to walk on a lead and randomly pulling, you can easily cause injury and it's very common with smaller dogs their entire lives. Personally, the thought of accidentally choking my dog any random moment they get excited is very upsetting to me and I don't ever attach a lead to her collar. Also, for car rides, I attach her seatbelt to her padded harness, incase there are any unexpected stops... or God forbid, an accident. Projectile dogs are not what we want!! Her reflective collar is strictly for her ID tags and added visibility on night-time walks. Oh, and you'll be surprised at all the available dog apparel... raincoats, sweaters (jumpers), wool coats, puffer coats, T-shirts, pajamas, life vests, etc. My dog doesn't have an undercoat and requires additional warmth in cold weather, so she has an entire wardrobe. I'm really not a fan and luckily she tolerates it, but it's a necessary evil when we go outside. I don't know enough about doxies to know which coat type requires additional warmth. One last little bit you might find helpful. Brush his teeth everyday while he's still little and he will learn to accept it and some dogs actually enjoy it (*hint* peanut butter flavored doggy toothpaste!). Also, play with his paws while he's snuggling with you. It will really help at toenail clipping time, if they aren't freaked out about paw touching! Sadly, my rescue wasn't taught as a puppy that we're going to mess with her face, paws and teeth ALL the time! Desensitize early and you'll be thrilled to avoid the daily/weekly battles the rest of your lives together! There's a lot to learn and do for our pups, but everything little thing is soooo worth it! Congratulations again!
"There's too many of us humans in the world, now. There's far too many of us." -Stef Well, Stef... here's the thing: The world desperately needs the kind of people you and Hannah are bringing into it.
So cute!! If it helps, buy George a toy the size of him or bigger to have with him while he sleeps so its like he's sleeping with his brothers and sisters again! But only give him the toy at night so then he knows its time to go to bed.
It's advised not to walk your puppy in public spaces untill they have had their 12 weeks injections. Please be very careful as loosing a puppy to parvo virus is heart breaking. I'm assuming as you only got him recently his is about 8 weeks old, accept my apologies I'm wrong.
Loosing a puppy because of parvo is really heartbreaking. It happened to us years ago. And seeing this little bundle of joy fighting and in the end losing it ist something I don't wish to my dearest enemy 😢
We lost 4 of 6 puppies in a litter from parvo and it was one of the hardest things that I've ever gone through in my life! They weren't out in public spaces either! Still completely home bound. It was before they got their shots and it must have been tracked in from foot traffic or possibly airborne? I'm not really sure how it happened, but it did and I never want to go through something like that again!
By the looks of the size of him, he’s already had his jabs. Just because they got him recently, doesn’t mean he’s that young ☺️ they probably bought him a little older
Thank you for including the little bicker you had during George’s walk in this video! It’s reassuring to know all couples bicker and I think it’s so important to keep it real which you guys always do. It’s refreshing to see. Congratulations on your new addition! 💗
Number one dog tip for house training - take them out every hour to where you WANT them to toilet and if/when they wee OR poo make a really big deal - give fuss, maybe treats and all the "Good Boys" you have in you. Out puppy was house trained by about 3 months by doing this ☺️
Omg the shots of Grayson nuzzling the pup is 100% speaking to my soul. 3 years ago we got a beagle puppy and it is my first pet (other than a cat we had when I was little). It has absolutely ruined me. I used to be a well-adjusted functioning adult. Now I’m a goddamn mess and I fall to pieces at the sight of any dog. I love her more than any single member of my family. It’s truly pathetic. 💗💗💗💗💗 I am so excited for your family and your new addition.
Aw this made me cry my dog that I've had since I was 4 years old passed away on Friday. This made me remember how precious every moment is. I'm so happy for all of you ❤️ A dog brings so much joy every day that they are around ❤️ Also having a dog growing up is magical
They actually do sell coats small enough for dachshund puppies I have a Chihuahua whos even smaller and she’s got a raincoat, too🤗 also maybe you want to get a harness for george at least in his first months as it’s more comfy for him on walks just some constructive criticism 😊 Love how grayson is around him it’s so lovely💛
Little tip from a dog groomer if you ever need to trim his claws hold the opposite leg to the one you need to trim e.g trimming the claws on his left paw hold the right one :) dogs generally get confused and don't struggle to much this way. Absolutely love him and glad the boys love him
Seeing this video made me a little bit obsessed with mini dachshunds. I had never really thought about having one until I saw it. I've now had my chocolate dapple puppy for 4 months and I am so glad I got him. Their beautiful big ears and funny personalities. They are just epic little things.
George is absolutely adorable and fits in with you all so well!! If your not already, crate training him may be a good solution to him crying and whining at night if he’s still doing so!! We’ve done it for all of our dogs, you feel guilty but it really works! Just pop them in there with a few blankets so that’s it’s comfortable for them and some treats and then cover it with another blanket and they seem to calm down? Also a trick that I’ve learnt is to put an alarm clock in there and cover it with blankets so that they can hear the ticking and it’s supposed to resemble their mother’s heart beat so it makes them more comfortable and relaxed!! Hope you enjoy it though, having a puppy is the best thing in the world !!
Your video's have been a source of inspiration and happiness for atleast 5 years now, thank u for continuously posting such pieces of heaven, I love your little family like it is my own, which is weird because you don't know me but yeah, you guys feel like home!❤❤❤
Congrats on your 3rd baby !! .. There's no denying there are a huge responsibility ( puppyhood like babyhood a series of stages you will survive ) but they are most loyal , faithful , pure , loving companionship one could ever wish for. Love his name . I have a huge hairy grey and white character who thinks he's a dog but is actually a cat ( Norwegian Forest ) and shares the same name . Grayson's gentleness was very touching . Best wishes from Toronto
George is gorgeous! Our dog pulled and pulled so much on a lead he used to choke himself so we ended up getting a harness and he walks so well now. julius k9 make the best harnesses (pretty sure they do tiny dog sizes as I’ve seen lots of tiny pups with them)
He is absolutely gorgeous!!! Something I've heard about dachshunds, which you probably already know, is that they shouldn't be allowed to go up and down stairs because of their height, as it hurts their backs! 💖
Amy B true they are prone to getting IVDD I don’t allow mine to. Lots of conflicting advice on the internet. Also with what age best to neuter them. He’s 6 months old but I can’t stop him jumping on and off the sofa which makes me cringe.
Amy B no dog as a puppy should be allowed up and down the stairs at this age as that is not good for their developing joints. I used to carry my border collie, until he was about 5 months - then I gave up as my back decided I can’t carry 20 kg dog anymore 🤪
Hey @TheMichalaks Family! 🙂I'm only just watching this vlog 3 days after you uploaded but I'd just like to give you some polite feedback about little George mini doxies have very weak backs due to how small they are so whenever you pick him up always slide one hand under his bum and the other on his chest. That way his back will be fully supported, so many dachshund owners do not know this information which is vital because it can be devastating if your puppy ends up with an irreversible back injury which medical vet bills cost hundreds or thousands of pounds to treat him. They don't have strong backs like most other dogs do, also just to let you know as well doxies love close contact with they're hoomans so always make sure you have individual snuggle time and any blanket you own they will burrow under like a bunny does underground. Oh and one last thing in the Autumn/winter months buy George some little jumpers as he will get very cold due to his short coat, I hope you will love dachshund life my family and I own two and they have transformed our lives forever they are some of the best little buddies to have a companionship with. Happy puppy loving! 💖😘🐶 😊
AAAh they are so gentle and good with little George when meeting him. So lovely!!! Steph not so much with his "daughter brings home poor guy"-talk. HAHAHA. The footage of Grayson cudling George is LIFE, looks like he got himself a little therapy dog (not saying he needed it btw).
Congrats on your new fur baby! I'm on the opposite track from you. Got two dogs and our first baby is on the way! It's great to see how much the boys love little George
“I don’t want him to die.” 😂 had me weak. I really liked this video. The silky shots of the family always warm my heart, but this week seemed extra cozy. Maybe that’s just George’s manipulation. . .
I stopped watching you for a while, I don’t know why that happened but I just all of a sudden didn’t click on the video’s anymore. The last video I saw of you guys was when Grayson was still a little baby. It’s so nice to see that you now have another boy and a puppy. I am really happy for you and I will for sure continue watching your journey from now on.
I’ve been waiting for this all week, after seeing the stories I e looked forward to see how the puppy has adjusted to the new family and how much Ru loves him
Congratulations on your new puppy! I had a dachshund for many years, and ours was so loving and full of personality. We miss him greatly, he was a family member. Also, they make plenty of clothing that fit small dachshunds, our Oscar had a raincoat, and even pajamas.
Loved seeing how caring and gentle Grayson was with him, almost made me emotional haha! I'm sure you're getting so many tips and already know what to do, but one of the things I wish I was better at with my own dog was brushing her teeth. Honestly it will help so much with tartar build up on their teeth and in the long run save you a lot of money on the vet/dentist. :) And when it comes to the vet it really helps that your dog is used to you checking his teeth, ears, paws etc.
Yay the surprise 🤣. He is sooooo cute. Grayson is adorable with George and the way he is teaching Rufus how to be around him is amazing. Loved this video. 💖 happy 💩picking 🤪
Be careful taking him out in public until he’s had all his puppy shots. There are so many things the puppies can get that can make them very sick. You never know if another animal has come through that is sick and you would not want George to catch anything
He is so cute! Having a dog is really a big obligation, but they are so worth it. Biggest love to you guys, and Hannah I couldn't agree more about the part that Stef loves to be beatin' up. The same story here with my boyfriend 😌 Anyway, enjoy it lads! Xx from Dublin
Pets and young kids are so great together. I think children who have pets at a young age learn so much about life through them. Congrats! He is so precious. P.S. I’ve had four sausage dogs in my life and they are super needy. That’s just the breed. They always want to be on you and with you. They are total lap dogs. And he will grow to love the ball and fetch. They can really be OCD about it. Good luck! 💕🐾
This is literally the best video I’ve ever seen, it got me so emosh and I’m 4 months postpartum with no soul and a receding hairline - thanks for making my 13minutes and 25 seconds worthwhile while my husband walks my son. Good luck tryina outdo yourself next week 😅 P.S we all love needy George
Omg I love him so much already. I have a daschund myself and he's quite grumpy because we spoilt him to death 🙄 And Grayson's "I dont want him to die" was the sweetest thing.
Lil puppy tip! Try to avoid playing fetch with him or playing games where he’s jumping around a lot until he’s older, because his bones are growing so fast and it puts too much strain on their joints! especially as a dachshund, he needs a lil extra care! Also do try to avoid sticks, if you don’t give sticks to them then they’re more likely to not find sticks to chew, and if they chew sticks they can get prices stuck in their throat or across the roof of their mouth 😊
Please PLEASE get a harness for him along with a lead that retracts - they give them more freedom and are also a lot more comfortable for them. I’ve grown up surrounded by dogs and trust me a harness is the way to go! Also make sure he has a collar on at all times when outside of your home with a name tag. Puppy mats help - place him on them to do his business and slowly move it towards the door to the back garden as the days go on. My dogs bark when they wish to go outside and trust me it’s a lifesaver but we didn’t train them to do it😂 this is a beautiful video 💓💓💓
Beautiful close-ups of Rufus'face! Even Stef got softer under George's influence. Also found the black and white segment interesting. All in all, great video, in my not-so-humble opinion.
Hey guys, a lot of comments already mentioned this but in summary: get him a harness rather than using his collar cause it's far easier to walk him AND it's better for him. Don't take him on walks till he has all his vaccines. Don't let him eat sticks or things outside as it can upset his tummy. Pet him as he's eating. The only ok human food is rice and chicken, fish isn't that good for them! Egg and some fruits are ok - just google that! Don't "punish" him by putting him in the crate where he sleeps cause then he won't go to sleep there. It's a lot of work but worth it!!! They're the best. Also, highly recommend getting pet insurance just in case!
Not sure if you guys knew this but I don’t think you’re supposed to walk them yet without their vaccinations! Takes a good month before they should be walked on grass/pavements??
A rule of thumb for walking puppies is 5minutes per month of age so if the puppy is 3months times by 5 is 15mins. Over walking can cause joint problems. I wish I had known this when I had my puppy 4 years ago.
Would have been awesome to see you guys use your platform to show adopting and not shopping. They are forever grateful and give just as much if not more love.
“I don’t want him to die” 😹 Well, that’s a statement
Grayson is so grown up " I don't want him to die" , "He is our brother, his our new brother" 😊
He has grown into a gentle boy ❤

So true! Got bitten as a child because the person didn't train their dog.
Especially with dachshunds! They are obsessed with food, and can get viscous over it if not trained well.
Very good point. I had a dachshund as a child and a scar on my nose that serves as evidence to why this is so important.

That was such a cute video ❤️❤️ Grayson has grown up to be such a lovely, caring and sweet little boy❤️
Hannah you’re looking gorgeous these days!!
Aaw hes adorable. Beautiful addition to a wonderful familyxxx
He’s absolutely adorable, congrats on your new addition💞
Having a dog is the best thing in the world!
Oh nooo!
Stef oh my goodness the quality of the cinema camera is insane !!!!!!
How could I love the Michalaks more? Now they have a puppy!!! 🥰
George! He’s adorable, he’s perfect for you guys :) So lovely for Gray and Ru to have a puppy.
Smile didn’t leave my face while I watched this. Welcome George ❤️
Cuteness overload! Love how gentle the boys are with him. ❤️ Our labradoodle pup is now 1,5 years old and I wouldn’t miss him for the world!
Gorgeous pup, and I am not a kid person, but your boys are so sweet!
Congrats on your new fur baby! I'm on the opposite track from you. Got two dogs and our first baby is on the way! It's great to see how much the boys love little George
You’ll find it much easier to walk him if he’s wearing a harness guys x
I'm so happy for you guys ❤️ A dog is the best thing, it makes every day better, haha. I've grown up having dogs in the family my whole life
I had a dachshund when I was young and they are the calmest and the most understanding creatures ever. Her name was Jinnie.
Aww. The boys meeting George is so cute
Your kids are so good with the pupper! 👍
“I don’t want him to die.” 😂 had me weak.
I really liked this video. The silky shots of the family always warm my heart, but this week seemed extra cozy. Maybe that’s just George’s manipulation. . .
Love George, love the music and love the family anyway. Best video in a long time!
I have two doxies and i love everything about them! Enjoy the new puppy! He’s adorable ❤️
Be careful taking him out in public until he’s had all his puppy shots. There are so many things the puppies can get that can make them very sick. You never know if another animal has come through that is sick and you would not want George to catch anything
This is lovely - the whole thing. Thank you for sharing.
He is so cute! Having a dog is really a big obligation, but they are so worth it. Biggest love to you guys, and Hannah I couldn't agree more about the part that Stef loves to be beatin' up. The same story here with my boyfriend 😌
Anyway, enjoy it lads!
Good luck tryina outdo yourself next week 😅
P.S we all love needy George
Wonderful video. Grayson melts my heart... oh and is it just me ....or is George the spit and double of stef??🤣🤣🤣❤️
Aw his gorgeous.. Congrats on your new member of your family 🐶
Stef and Hannah are beautiful people and their kids are equally as beautiful 😭❤️
Omg I love him so much already. I have a daschund myself and he's quite grumpy because we spoilt him to death 🙄
And Grayson's "I dont want him to die" was the sweetest thing.
YES YES YES !!! GEORGE 😍😍😍😍😍
My dogs bark when they wish to go outside and trust me it’s a lifesaver but we didn’t train them to do it😂 this is a beautiful video 💓💓💓
the puppy is so lovely
Oh bless the boys were so good with him ☺️
Beautiful close-ups of Rufus'face! Even Stef got softer under George's influence. Also found the black and white segment interesting. All in all, great video, in my not-so-humble opinion.
he's sooo cute, congrats to your new family member! I want to cuddle him so bad
That dog is the cutest thing ever 🐶❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️❤️
Takes a good month before they should be walked on grass/pavements??
ok my heart has melted into a puddle....
Oh my god I’m so so so so happy for you it’s so nice to see Grace and loving his puppy they’re great great good luck
Had our Dollydogs/Weiner dog for 14 yrs they are great! Congratulations 😀
I loved that “laugh at your own joke” bit. LOL Classic dad moment, tbh. Congratulations on your new arrival. Dogs are so much better than people.
