Always looking forward to Rex and Lav on my youtube feed for another great episode. Nice treat that they talked to Billy Horschel from media day for TGL. Looking forward to that. The showdown wasnt that exciting. Scottie looked out of place. This was his debut in the match format on TNT and it showed. Rorys game is still there. He carried the PGA tour to an easy W without breaking a sweat. It was funny to see Golf Channel breaking in on a random Tuesday at 10AM during the down time. I thought oh great who ran away now. My mind went back to when Jon Rahm was exposed as a hypocrite for running away. Im with Rex to us viewers, the search for a CEO meant nothing. If anything it was more shocking and not surprising when Mollie Marcoux Samman ran away from the LPGA after the Solheim Cup mess.
I feel like we’re too hung up on players personalities during the TGL. We only see these guys during tournament play, rarely do we see them outside of that. Billy touched on it a little that there are seven other guys down there to work off of, some guys won’t enable the banter, but with other guys down there, their comfort level should raise. With that said, Hideki would be interesting to watch with the language barrier. We saw him during the exhibition match in Japan a few years ago, where he was kinda in the background. It’ll be interesting to see how he handles the experience
Ryder Cup will start on September 19th through September 21st instead of 26th through 28th. The new mixed event will start September 26th and 28th. They will select 6 PGA or LIV Golfers based on their ranking and 6 LPGA Tour Players of USA and Europe
We have the TGL Golf League on that starts on January 7th with 24 PGA stars and that takes place in SoFi Center on ESPN and hopefully it eyes expansion
That was great to see a PGA Tour vs LIV Golf Showdown in Las Vegas and that was great. The next TV Match would feature Nelly Korda and Scottie Scheffler and two other stars to join them in February 2025.
We definitely need more teams for expansion in 2026. It is only 6 teams and 24 PGA Players for the 2025 season. They would also include LPGA Players for mixed golf league in the TGL Golf in different locations if the season is successful
i don't usually watch exhibitions, but thought the Showdown was cool. too bad LIV was a bit rusty. i'll watch TGL, but i don't think the buzz around it is big. if they had a Los Angeles stadium site, i would buy tickets and go. but i'm not near Florida, unless i am coming or going from a cruise. so maybe i can tie it in, we'll see.
In my opinion, so take it for what it's worth, TGL is going to bomb. If the PGA Tour is banking on this, going to fail. Maybe it's for the younger audience but NO WAY am I going to watch golfers hit into a screen and then go to the putting green. Dumb ass idea. They should just do one showdown a year, a mixed event ladies vs. guys and then PGA golf. No video golf BS!!!!
Imo for tgl the interaction part on the simulator will actually be easy and natural because the players will not be huffing and puffing in 5o degree weather. And I can see the idea of simulator competitions for top pros resonating with many golfers these days. But the concern for me is transitioning from simulator to this electronic green thing for the short game. Who resonates with that? I wish they just hit every shot into the screen. It would be much faster pace. And Easier to keep that banter and interaction going between players by just hitting into the screen. But let’s see how it works… Finally… Norman’s ceo role is being removed to please some on the pga tour side while Monahans ceo role is being removed to further please some on the pga tour side, moreso than the LIv guys imo ; who for many LIv boys Monahans pga tour is as dead to them as a business person who took a deal with another Shark would be to Mr wonderful. Btw Cockroaches are super resilient. Just say it. We all know that’s what we associate with this kind of resilience.
Always fantastic to hear Rex and Lav, until next time...

The mixed event will be fun at Bethpage Black will feature PGA, LIV and LPGA Players

We could San Diego or Texas for more seating capacity because the stadium is bigger that SoFi Center.
Comes down to the putting 🥸
Golf should be golf, it's not comedy or wwe
The TGL Golf will need new sites because the SoFi Center is about 1,500 seating capacity
The PGA Tour vs LIV Golf Ryder Cup Style that would on August 29 through August 31

These teams would be Seattle, a European team, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Houston for 2026

Showdown should have had Rahm involved instead of Brooks
Its not about Liv against pga its about pro golfers against each other
The Ryder Cup will be payed for $300,000 at the event
point taken: chatty golfers are not particularly funny in the first place; it's not for everybody
So boring...
