      I disagree, he looks good going forward but still needs work defensively. He was equally to blame with Burn and Dubravka for their 3rd.
      Tripps wasn't match fit and ended up being a liability. Perhaps Krafth at RB with Fab alongside Burn would have been better but maybe Fab would have been a risk starting.
      Comparing last night's performance to Palace away, we were significantly better and therefore I stand by my previous comments in these comments that we need to put things into perspective. As for being challenged for my "woulda, coulda" comments we are close to breaking our PL record for goals scored as well as being in line with Expected Goals statistics so there are not many occasions when we could criticise them for not taking their opportunities.

    @andrewturnbull8955 16 дней назад

    Hiya Paul. To start with, many of us feel the same as your frustrations.
    My first observations was with Kieran Tripper - it seemed like he didn't want to be there. He was lethargic in those opening minutes, he was not fully intent on the runs - and if you watch the play, it was due to his failure to fully track back at normal speed that led to the first goal. Like with the lead to the second goal, big Dan Burn got up in the air and headed it into a free space in the direction where Trippier should have been in - however he was only trotting to the area and failed to get the ball. If he had of been at full, normal speed - Burn's ball would have been perfectly timed.
    Dubrakva - what can I say. There was a couple of times where it was clear that he was happy to parry the ball away and claim it, yet was happy to punch it - with one of them leading to a goal. That second goal though - we talk about Pickford being little arms, Dubravka's arms were beside his head rather than at full stretch.
    To tell you the truth, I actually thought Bruno went missing last night - possibly as you say about being surrounded, but the outlets were poor. I think Murphy didn't run too well, Longstaff wasn't too bad with all honesty - I actually think he was better than recently. He was unlucky with the shot against Onana (He had a decent game considering) - and the ball Longstaff played across the face of goal, well, we need to ask why no one was on it. When he does those runs, we know if he gets to cross it, where it going.
    However, I do completely agree that Joelinton should have started - and we should have started with Schar at the back with Kraft at right back (if Livramento was injured). Trippier hasn't been the same since his 'episode' in October, and I honestly can't trust him now. I'm really glad that Lewis Hall is starting to shine now, that potential was there. Pleased that he's silencing those who were questioning why he wasn't getting the game time earlier in the season - Eddie was right on that one, he just took a little time to get to speed with our way of play (akin to Gordon's first six months with us).
    Finally, Isak wasn't there at all tonight - something clearly wasn't there, and to be honest it was the same at Brighton. He seems to be lost at the minute. With Barnes being fit and Gordon already accustomed to the Striker role with England - it must have been an option to start with Isak on the bench, with Barnes taking the left flank.
    I'm still hopeful of a European spot - it was so much in our hands prior to the Brighton game, so frustrating and can only look forward to who get's offloaded in the summer and who comes in for to go straight into the Starting Line-up.
    Hope the bairn is getting better, mate - they all have their challenges!

    Was a piss poor performance from 80% of the team like you said lewis hall, bruno and Gordon where class. Isak looked so poor tonight like alot of them and some of those subs should be on that pitch like schar,J7,pope and barnes. Tripps looked horrible and not his normal self if that is the case but krafth at rb and start schar cb not difficult. Eddie has bottled alot of times just like some of the players but for me eddie needs to be harder and stricter on his choices and make them earlier and EDDIE O CLOCK NEEDS TO DO ONE SICK OF IT.

    At last, someone who speaks openly and honestly.
    I’ve been watching this club for 57 years, man and boy, and I’ve seen this before, this is nothing new.
    Afraid to say, it seems to be in our DNA that we are found lacking at key moments in a season. Call it lack of bottle if you will, but it has happened time and time again.
    I do disagree slightly with you on Howe, he has done this before with team selection and tactics, I personally think he does not have what it takes to take us to the next level. My photos that Southgate quits after the summer and Howe gets the England job.
    As for Europe, I’m not interested in the Sherpa Vans trophy equivalent of European football, it’s a Mickey Mouse competition.
    I did predict 8-12 at the start of the season, looks like I was right, unfortunately

    Hall had a decent game. I thought Murphy played well in spells and did some great defensive work, Gordon worked his socks off as usual, and Bruno did the best he could while being surrounded by players that put half of his effort in. Dubs was terrible, how he managed to parry a shot in the opposite direction it should have gone is mental, and Pope would have saved Hojlands goal. I thought we needed the two CB’s on a free, a RW, and a backup goalkeeper and striker this summer. After watching that garbage we need another 3 or 4 on top of that!!!! Longstaff, Anderson, Almiron, Isak, Dubs, Trips, Barnes, all poor. Murphy, Krafth, Burn, above average. Gordon, Bruno, Hall, Joelinton, setting the required standards but surrounded by incompetence.
    We need a miracle this weekend.

    As a Man United fan, I'm surprised how passive NUFC were. We're missing a big portion of our squad through injury, especially defensive areas. Palace scored 4 against us just over a week ago. We're currently playing some of the worst football since SAF retired. Still won though, which is crazy to say.

    Hiya Paul, I'm with you on this one, the Anthony Gordon penalty was a stone wall penalty, if that had been Manchester United, It would of been Checked by VAR, then the ref would of gone to the screen and awarded the penalty, its time we had a clear out, Dubravka and Sean Longstaff are 2 of them, I wonder if Eddie has told them that their going in the summer and that's why there not trying, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England

    Eddie said something in the press conference after the game about not getting enough away wins, even 1-0's. He said we have to look at the mentality of the players and the personal. He knows the team ain't good enough but in my view it's made even worse when he leaves players who are better even at 80% fit on the bench and plays basically people who are just squad players for the littler games. Harvey Barnes should of played with Gordon on the right. J7 should of played from the start as should of Shar and pope. It was in my eyes a must win but leaving them out just opened Eddie up to criticism. Shocking display, shocking managerial selections.

  • @stephenc394
    @stephenc394 16 дней назад +1

    Example of Eddie Howe's stubborn approach this season is the baffling amount of times he started Longstaff despite his woeful performances game after game. "Ah but he was carrying an injury!". More reason not to start him "Ah but Eddie didnt know he was carrying an injury!". So fine him wages for mugging off the lads to get selected knowing he was not going to be at his best. And anyway injured or not you could see something wasnt right. Everyone but EH that is. " Ah but who would you field? Look at all the injuries!". Yes the injuries from Eddie fielding the same 11 in every single match, league Europe and domestics instead of resting them in a gruelling campaign earlier in the season. Didnt see that coming did we? And Tino couldve been fielded at RM. Hes shown he can slip in wherever. Nice guy Eddies not ruthless enough. Not starting Joelinton was criminal. He always hooks players too late and after we've gone down. Pi55 poor management last night.
