    How to do wire repairs:
    • How do I repair damage...
    Hi
    This 2004 Citroen C4 1.4 petrol, engine code KFU, came to me as a non runner, with the fault codes P0201 P0202 P0203 P0204 P0443, all indicating an open circuit.
    Sometimes the car would start, would run for a few seconds until stop and not restarting.
    After some investigation, I found the issue, but the owner wanted this to be done as cheap as possible, so watch the video to see what I came up with!....
    (Important: I do not recommend to do what I have done in the video, replacing the whole unit would be the correct procedure to repair the fault. If you ever do something similar, do it at your own risk...)
    Hope there is some valuable information for someone out there, and that you enjoy the video.
    Any comments or questions, please put them below.
    Like always, thank you for watching!

    Hi, Great stuff you put out. It would be even better if you could make more detailed video's ie. how you traced wire from coil 1 to finishing adding the temporary relay. Also where do you get the schemstics diagrams from pls.

    Another great fix, they are lucky you could bypass it! It's crazy those modules are sealed with compound so you can't replace the relays, damn you Citroen/PSA! I've had relays fail on a few cars Ford, VW and BMW (sticking DDE relays) at least they were pluggable so could get them running again. Nice to see you've renamed your channel! Big thumbs up!

    Hey, official dealer of Peugeot, Latvia, did this same thing to mine petrol 407, even looks like they found your solution for my situation 😂, which is the same. But they really fucked up because ignition relay, which btw controls depollution and coils, wasnt really fried, just sticking, so when I drove for like 30kms, original relay started to work simultaneously with the new one, and engine management system crashed immediately. Had to use evacuator. So this works only if that relay it really gone.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  5 лет назад +1

      No really... something else must have been done in your case...
      In this case, is just a relay fitted in parallel with the faulty one, so if the faulty one works, will make no difference, as is just two relays enabling the exactly same circuit....
      Hope it makes sense.

I have been told to change bsm but remains the same, when I short two fuses on top of battery connection it get electric on dash and start but it gives random faults change the connection on top of battery second hand, still the same. Need to jump fuses. Changed preheated relay still no improvement

      I would have to go and check diagrams etc... but you can do that yourself...
      The external relay essentially bypasses the internal one...

      So I've looked at the diagram for my car, its basically the same circuit as this C4, however instead of two separate fuses powered by the relay like the C4, all 4 components (injectors, ignition coil, purge cannister valve, x2 oxygen sensor heaters) are ran through one fuse.
      This single 30A fuse is fine. But the fuse doesn't show 12V with the ignition on.
      I tried your method of providing 12V directly from the battery, but sadly no luck starting the car.
      I haven't taken the fuseboard out yet. I wonder if the stored fault codes would prevent the car from starting, even if the issues have been "fixed"?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  6 месяцев назад

      @zingrock
      Usually no...
      The codes if stored will allow the car to start...

    Great video, I have the same problem with a Peugeot with a similar box. But I'm afraid that there is some kind of security risk in that connection. If the fuel line breaks, the control of that relay 2 is probably supposed to stop the fuel pump.

      @@LMAutoRepairs I may be wrong, but as far as I understand, the control of the RL2 relay coil is done by a microcircuit with NPN logic and the positive side of the relay coil always gets voltage when RL1 pulls. With that fix, one of the conditions is bypassed. The negative side of relay RL2 is not accessible from the outside.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Год назад +1

      I get your point...
      What is the security risk?
      Both relays are on at all times with the ignition/engine on...

    • @leisuremechanist3800
      @leisuremechanist3800 Год назад +1

      @@LMAutoRepairs I don't know what that microcircuit contains and if there is any software associated with it, but I would assume that that microcircuit cuts off the current from the pump when the ignition is connected and sufficient fuel pressure is reached, for example when the engine is not started or when it does not start. I would also assume that that control monitors the fuel pressure and cuts off the pump if it can be concluded from the pressure that there is a leak in the pipes. If that NPN control had no meaning, that connection would have been implemented much more simply. So I would think that the purpose of that is to prevent fueling a possible fire.

      I've seen yes, I just need the electrical schematic to adptar and make my car work, I bought a BSM used with this open circuit problem. Thank you, please help me!

      @@LEOTURBOTUNING- If you pause the video, the concerned part of the circuit is quite visible.
      Se parar o video, a parte do circuito que te interessa é bem vísivel.
      Adicional se abrires a BSI com algum cuidado. Consegues substituir o relé interno. É uma peça bem barata em casas de artigos electrónicos deverás encontrar facilmente. Desoldar o antigo e soldar o novo não é dificil.
      Boa sorte.

    Those relays in BSM are fixed in some glue or some electrically insulating paste and are imposible to remove them!

      THE STIG
      Hi
      I know... is not very good...

      The potting compound used in this boards is epoxy resin. It´s encasing the components of the circuit to protect from external agents, water being a good example. Additionally provide mechanical support against vibrations...
      With all this said. Yes it´s a pain in the a_s to repair. Which makes some sense Since they are not designed or engineered to be repaired. These parts are "supposed" to be discarded and replaced upon failure.
      Ask me not how I know, because I worked in a factory where we made a ton of these power train components. ;-)
      Regarding the repair itself, which BTW is mostly a DIY kind of thing. Depending on the particular relay location it can be "relatively" easy. The best I can say is that a Dremel type tool is a big help to dig out the potting compound. The rest is just a bit of solder. Really not much to it rather than patience. ;-)
      The relay itself cost some 0.2€ at the end of the production line. 4 to 8€ on the counter! The contact tips is usually minimal (keeping cost down). So they tend to don´t like too much current for extended periods of time.
      Which leads me to a tiny tip, keeping electric contacts immaculate clean is by far the best prevention over electrical failures in motor vehicles.
      Oops, wall of text. LOL :-)
      Cheers

    Tell me if when this problem occurs, when you put the ignition on, does the fuel pump start, because it doesn't give any sign for me?

      I don't remember know...
      Sorry...
      Check diagrams and see what systems are powered by the relay...

      @@LMAutoRepairsThanks. Should i mechanically check the pump first or check the relay first? Because you are the expert, what do tou think?

      Check that there is voltage going to the pump first...
