This is something I don’t think about probably holding me back in various ways. And when I think about players I aspire to, in particular Kiver comes to mind, he’s excellent at using cover.
yes!! getting comfortable with cover will give you confidence to move forward and pressure the enemy. pacing is the fastest way to improve in Splat 3! also hi six!!!
This is a big one for me. I used to do terribly on maps like Robo Romen until I figured out some spots I can safely escape to if I'm caught out, or parts of the map that technically look wide open, but can challenge backlines because they won't be able to target me given the map layout or will have to take up very vulnerable positions to even get a glimpse of me. I really like your distinctions between on and off cover, it's giving some nebulous decision making I do during a game more structure. Thanks!
100% there are a lot of great cover on maps if you are crafty enough! I appreciate the way you think about the game and glad you were able to find some value in the video!! 🙏
Now that you mention it, I don't use tiny ledges like the one you mentioned in Hagglefish enough for cover, been trying that a bit more lately and I've been doing better during really crusty skirmishing moments. Thanks for the tips chief!
Great video! I've played so much Splatoon that it's natural for me to use cover like you talked about in this video, but it's always good to go back to the basics.
I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to send over positive vibes and kind words! I am gonna keep working to make better and better videos. Thank you so much! 🙏
thank you for making this. ive been trying to explain this to others but never knew how exactly to put words to it. please continue with the series :) this will become a valuable resource for anyone trying to get better at the game
I've been thinking about the 5% useful number you give. I figure you said it off the cuff, but I think there's some really good meaning in it. Even if a piece of cover is only useful 5% of the time, that means it will be useful about 1 in every 20 interactions, and even quick knockouts comfortably have 20 interactions.
It was but I love your comparison! When it comes to playing 100s to 1000s of games, 5% can make the difference in many matches, many series. Appreciate the perspective! 🙏
Thanks for the tip. Now I can make solo q lobbies even worse with flanking crb :). Speaking of crb, what kits do you think will have a big impact this season.
CRB so scary!! I think the balance patch will play a heavy influence on how strong weapons will end up. I do think CRB will find a home in some meta comps. I am very hopeful for the new dousers because I REALLY love burst bombs. (nearly) All the kits looks strong this time around and have room to explore even at the highest levels. Splat fans are eating good this season 🙏
Hi Ceylen! 🙏 It is all about consistency! I'm sure most people work around cover some/most of the time, but the melon's of the community are good about it ALL of the time which is super impressive to watch.
@@Reborn_NA this is so true and the way you described on/off cover helped me to notice those patterns in high level gameplay too and watching how they used cover to push up or mega stall is superrr satisfying to watch… now using it in my own gameplay is harder LMAO

Yes! Melon, Kiver, Jared, Chocopero.... it is second nature for them and so inspiring!
You spoil us with such high quality advice! I hope more people discover you.
so kind thank you! 🥲 I hope to continue to get better 🙏
TRUE we don't talk about this enough. probably important to remember when we talk about holding positions and moving up safely lol
Reborn should make a video about momentum 👋😬
