    Mark I am with you! No meat jello. When my wife and I were dating my first trip to Poland to meet the parents. The first meal was a light lunch, and my now mother-in-law made meat jello. Well I'm not a jello fan anyway but I tried it and about lost my cookies. The carp jello is the only one I'll eat but still not a fan. If there are other choices especially sausage that is where I partake. Thank you guys for the great content!

    My mother used to make this with pork and I never knew how she did it, thank you so much for this recipe, we also ate it with vinegar, my father loved it. I must tell you both how very much I am enjoying watching all your videos, not just the cooking but when you go out on your short trips and show us different places in Poland. After visiting in May 2019 I saw so much I want to still see more, don't know if we will but would love to. All the Polish I spoke to my babcia as a child came back to me when I was there I am 79 and I can't believe how much I retained. All of what we saw was impressive and makes me more proud then ever of my heritage. Again, thank you both very much I wish you many good years ahead. Greetings from Oldsmar, Florida. Originally from Buffalo, N.Y.

    This looks so pretty. I've never had chicken in the aspic, but I can remember getting jars of pork hocks in "jelly" from the grocery store in the 50's when I was a kid.

      @marcellahicks3984 2 года назад +3

      I remember this too. My Grandpa who is German made this with ham hocks, my Dad who is Polish always bought a loaf of rye bread and they would sit in the kitchen and listen to a White Sox game on the radio while eating it.

    It's interesting you're using chicken. My mama would boil up pigs trotters to make the aspic. She would layer up the meat and veg (no egg thankfully) and the pour the stock from the pig trotters ( I think she may have added gelatine to make sure the aspic had the proper consistency) into a bundle mould. This would be unmoulded, placed on a nice plate and take centre place on a table groaning with food, served with some rye bread and vinegar

    Anna! My (Polish) husband has been telling me about a dish that his family made when he was young that seems similar to this. He recalls it being called Ziltz….or something similar. (Pig Jello). Is this along the same lines of this video, but with pork offal…. If you’re familiar, could you do a video on that!? I am Polish as well, but this recipe wasn’t familiar to me, although I’m sure I’d like it!! Love Mark’s commentary. He makes me laugh! I love this channel, and am so glad I found it! 🥰

How about some soups because it's freezing in America a lot of snow storms back to back across the map. Still #1 Fan from Lakewood Ohio. Stay warm & safe.

    I am going to give it a try. It is chicken broth jello, and broth just tastes good. Do you refrigerate to let it set? Serve cold? Or do you just leave on counter to set? Thanks for the recipe. Something I never had, I think In my mind the consistency is questionable. But someone will love it if I don't usually

    Can this be made without gelatin and with a high gelatin bone broth instead? Like bone broth made from chicken feet which will result in a high gelatin broth?

    • @PolishYourKitchen
      @PolishYourKitchen  2 года назад

      I'm sure that is can, as the roots of this dish are much older than packets of Jello. I've never done it, so if you give it a try, let us all know how it went! Thanks for watching!

    Do you use gelatin for Zimne Nogi as well?? My mom used to make it all the time and it seems the broth became gelatin on it's own. I'd love to make it, but unfortunately, she didn't write down the recipe, so I am at a loss!

    • @PolishYourKitchen

      No, I don’t. There is enough of natural gelatin that you don’t need to.
