I've got 6 sets of these brother. They are so great. The Fit-All template system is next level. Big holes are for hanging even though I like that they are directly cut in half by the center line! Small holes with bushings are all for alignment! Awesome.
The T nuts in the first template are for the orange paddles so u can firmly hold the body against a flush trim router bit. The ferrells in the neck template and fingerboard template are there so u can drill holes in the neck and the bottom of the finger board for alignment pins for glue up.
Steve's stuff is amazing and he's an excellent teacher as well. Even if I don't buy a piece from him, I'd still watch the vid on it just to learn from the man!
Steve’s stuff is GREAT! I have 3 of his pickup, & bridge templates that I can adapt and use on a custom body template. Plus his neck jigs, a radius jig! His stuff is phenomenal
@@BradAngove Yes, you use it in conjunction with an inline sander (as sold on Amazon). I purchased a 10 degree and another one to a custom radius. I also purchased his hold down jig. All very high quality jigs built to do the job. His products almost guarantee perfectly accurate repeatability. Um…user error STILL may occur, just saying🙄 He has a video on it as well. His videos are highly detailed with hidden gems of deadpan sarcasm delivered unexpectedly. Highly entertaining. Grab your favorite Canadian Lager and watch one. If you aren’t entertained and accidentally learn something I’ll buy you a Texas Toast beer when they come out😉 Great job on your stuff too. I’ve followed for about 2 years now and have benefited from your experience and videos about painting. Great stuff. Have a good day Brad and as Steve at Maximum Guitars would say…”Start with Excellence”
Great looking guitar! Steve’s the man! I have spent many $$ on having blueprints printed and then 3m 77’d them to my hardboard, cut it all out, sanded to the line, cleaned up the edges, drilled all the holes, double stick taped them to the 3/4” MDF to make my working set to then finally start building a guitar. NOT ANY MORE!! I can have 3 guitar built with Steves templates in the amount of time. Shoot, I could do a whole body in the time it took be to type this.
I think those body holes with the inserts are for the plastic orange handles he included in the box that you were marveling at in the beginning. Good luck.
Yeah you got your money's worth on that. I need to get back up north for a month or so and order a WHOLE bunch of stuff. Looks like I'll be getting those as well......
Hi Brad. I think you're very missed in Colorado. I just watched a live chat that mentioned you often. Think Wonder Bread. When are you finishing the 335 kit?
Hey man, I think the answer is probably that it's not a good idea, but since you know way more than me - is it possible/how painstaking would it be to strip a hollow body polyurethane or polyester guitar in order to refinish it? The model I'm thinking specifically of is the Modern Player Starcaster, but also just curious more generally if there are additional challenges compared to a solid body?
It’s not notably different from a solid body except that the additional glue points mean you can’t really use the heat gun method. It’s going to be a lot of sanding.
Very cool !!!…. i've been thinking about having Steve make a set for me…. I was thinking of sending him one of my guitar to copy…..have to talk to him i guess...
Living In Europe means a tele style template would be about 700 dollars 😏 but nice video and good to see new stuff 👍 they look awesome And to all the European companies out there. Why do I need to buy 50% of my stuff outside Europe if not making a standard fender guitar ? Sorry for the negativity Brad. You are doing a top notch job, keep it up. And know you’re the one who got me in too this. Thank you so much 😊 🎸
I'm impressed. You can't expect to have greater repeatable precision and quality than when you have templates like those! About your finished guitars, I'm in your favor regardless what, how or why you do anything. Yes, I like the traditional approach, but I think that approach is always safest and NOT for anyone that has as much experience and practical knowledge as you do. Your guitars naturally reflect their creator...as it should be...you've got to please yourself.
Hmm… before I watch this. It seems Brad has some new templates. Most templates that are the best ever are among the best ever so safe to assume pretty good ones. And with templates you can make templates to make templates. Which in turn are not bad swag for subscribers that comment humorously or win a raffle. Lol
Price is relative. What are you trying to do? If you are trying to build “A” guitar, maybe. But if you are actually building guitarS then it’s a bargain. For the average diy/ hobby builder, these templates will pay for themselves in savings of F-ed up wood in short order. Oh yeah, what are your fingers worth? The safety aspects of these things is worth double the price. I’ve been building for thirty years and have spent many $$ on having blueprints printed and then 3m 77’d them to my hardboard, cut it all out, sanded to the line, cleaned up the edges, drilled all the holes, double stacked them to the 3/4” MDF to make my working set to then finally start building a guitar. NOT ANY MORE!! I can have 3 guitar built with Steves templates in the amount of time. Shoot, I could do a whole body in the time it took be to type this. Don’t be a cheapskate. Buy once cry once. Don’t count your saved money with your 9 leftover fingers.
@@pops71 It made me realize I was getting a killer deal. I'm not looking for better and definitely not lesser quality than I use now. This kit is 3x the price. Now for a custom kit, it's a go. If I could give the design and have it done for that price I'm okay with it. The patterns I use now come in a complete kit for $75 to the door. It's well thought out. This video gave me an idea. I'm going to show it to my guy and then ask if he wants to trade a kit for content I'm in. I won't get the exposure like Brad but he should get some eyes on his product
@@JoeKyser Here is the problem with your statement “If I could give the design and have it done for that price I’m okay with that”…Isn’t that like saying if I could buy a custom Strat for the price of an off the shelf model I would do it? The other issue, even if you get you buddy or whatever to make some templates, it won’t be on the same planet. Everything is so well designed, and Brad touched on it, even the hardened steel drill bushings are literally custom made just for these templates. Nobody is even close, in the end, the cost is a bargain.
@@pops71 yeah same thing.and yes if I could get a custom strat for the same price as a shelf model I would take it. What's the problem with my opinion? You asked me asked me a question not said what your problem is with it lol No my buddy doesn't make my templates. I buy them from a company. They are very well thought out and I wouldn't change a thing about them. So yeah I personally won't be buying that kit. I can't justify it. It's like I have this Chevy 1500 I bought for 30k and need more. You have Ford 150s for 90k. I'm not buying any ford's, I'm sticking with the chewy 1500. It's a great truck. Does everything I need it to do. I would look at other trucks but I'm not going to consider paying 3x the price. Your right, not on this planet. Value is in the eye of the beholder. For some reason I feel like your arguing my opinion is wrong. It's an opinion though, only I can determine that haha. Don't be so triggered. Do Steve a solid and just spend some money with him. That would be the best thing. Trying to convince me differently isn't helping either one of us
Not only that, but the bait and switch of "7 piece set from $35" when it's really $340 put me off. I commented about that directly a couple days ago, and it looks like someone deleted my comment. I guess we can't have anyone pointing out the dishonesty.
Looks great Brad, Steve's stuff is the best and was a real game changer for us.
Talk at you soon muchacho, #Coorslight4life
Cheers guys. Enjoy your barley water haha.
Sounds and looks like Steve is very attentive to detail. Can’t wait to see what you build using the templates. Super cool.
Thanks Vic
The big holes are for hanging up the templates, Thanks for the video Brad - can't wait to see the build.

I am iterally trying to figure out some new templates right now. I should talk to Steve
I can’t think of a better guy to discuss it with.

I would assume that the large holes on the neck are to enable you to see the center line...just my thought
It turns out they’re to allow for the templates to be easily hung. The templates are clear, I just haven’t removed the protective paper yet.

It kinda looks like a cross between a Les Paul and an Explorer, so I suggest you call it a LeX Paul!
