  • The Adventure begins!
    For the first time in about 2 years the tent was packed and all the gadgets and gizmos that go along with it and we headed to Beinglas Farm Campsite at the tip of Loch Lomond and next to The famous Drovers Inn
    This was just an overnight just to get a feel for it again and to behonest felt a bit like a holiday and felt great to be back out under canvas (although a little chilly at night lol).
    The site is amazing, the facilities are great no matter if you are walking in from the West Highland Way or doing a bit more glamping with the huts or lodges.
    Great site and the staff were brilliant.
    More camping here we come YEAH!!!

      Hi Don The place is brilliant. Even if your not camping they have the pods for a bit more of luxury lol. I'm always at my happiest on the WHW. Have you taken on any of the Way. If not I highly recommend it. Its hard work but hugely rewarding. I'm def going to have to work on keeping warm at night. It was freezing and my sleeping bag and setup really didn't keep me toasty so at least I know I have work to do lol Thanks for watching. Hope all is well and staying safe 😁👍🥾🥾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛺

      Probably too arduous a walk for me 🤩. I like easy walks, and am more of a five ⭐️ Hotel type of chap now !! But I admire your pluck !! All the best, Don 🙋‍♂️

      @@donroy7825 There are very flat and easy walks on the Way such as across Rannoch Moor or Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy which are amazing and very flat. If you can get yourself on the WHW for a day walk honestly you will have a blast 👍😁🥾

      Hi Des hope you keeping well It's such a great site and as you know I'm a huge advocate of the WHW and you would have a great adventure. Its a good base camp for further walking around that area. This was just a taster and get back to using the tent and worked out I need to work on keeping warm through the night. Might need to work on that a bit. It was great to be back under the stars. If your ever in town just let me know and I'll pull the boots on no worries ⛺🥾👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Thanks for watching. Take care 😁👍⛰️⛺

      @@ScottsLand Yes, it's still getting cold overnight. Did you see that little self inflating mat I got for my last wild camp? That worked well and only cost just over £20.

    • @ScottsLand
      @ScottsLand  3 года назад +1

      @@DesGreene I did see that video and I got a small inflatable mat from Decathlon a few years ago but only goes to about 5c which is about a 2 season one.. Which I found out to my cost (shivers and chittering teeth lol) I'm looking into backpacking camp beds which you can get ones that fit into a pack and a fleece bivvy bag with a 3 season sleeping bag. I think I was a tad on the tired side and maybe a few pints didn't help either lol. That's part of camping though finding out the good and bad. But always fun and adventurous 🏕️😊🥶🥾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😂🤣👍

    Great stuff! What a super site. I'll need to give it a go sometime when I'm a bit more free.It has everything: somewhere to drink, eat and hide from the midges when required. Sorry I missed ths when it came out but I've been too busy, knackered to keep up. Good advice on sheep and dogs. Nice stewing steak and enough spuds to feed the campsite!;-) Sounds like that camp has done you the power of good. Keep 'em coming pal!

    • @ScottsLand
      @ScottsLand  3 года назад +1

      Wow thanks Glad you enjoyed it. You would have a blast I think. If I remember rightly did your walking club not walk through there either on the Way or headed up the hills??. I'm a dog owner and just know that there can be some irresponsible owners that don't abide by the rules of the countryside. No midges insight. It was just amazing to get the tent out and listen to owls at night under the stars and relax. Not alot of walking done but when I stepped back on the WHW I had a huge grin on my face as it Brough back brilliant memories and adventure.. Sounds like you are full on with busy stuff but it was a bit of breathing space at the Campsite. The food was really nice. It might not have looked it but brilliant bit of camp grub lol You need to get the tent packed and hit the campsites when you have time and get back to sleeping under the stars. Sheer bliss. Thanks for watching. Hope your keeping well Look after yourself sir 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥾🥾👍⛺😁👍

Brilliant. Hi Gary l How you getting on. I think the campsite would be right up your street. All the facilities you could need and for me connecting with the West Highland Way was a way of getting back to my happy place after being away for such a long time. You know yourself on being on the West Highland way how rewarding it is.. I can't image how it feels doing all the long distance walks you do and how gruelling it can be but the rewards must be huge. It was nice talking to walkers again that had done the loch lomond part and having a laugh at how rough they found it. Its things like this that makes a great campsite. Thanks for having a look. Hope you all safe and well. Take care sir 🥃🥃😁🥾🥾👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛰️⛰️

      @@ScottsLand Hi Scott, I'm fine thanks, hope you're well. We had to walk through the campsite to get to the Drovers and could see what a nice site it was. If I remember correctly, I wasn't too popular with my wife once we reached Bienglas after the Loch Lomond section as she was expecting a gentle stroll along the shore. LOL! ATB

    • @ScottsLand

      @@TheConstantHiker 🤣🤣 That is a part of the hike that will make or break relationships lol. It is def not easy and tbh when I did it my mate and me actually took a wrong turn and wound up on top of the hills at the back of the campsite. The loch lomond side is hard graft and the mindset is not to think about it. I couldn't imagine doing it with a full pack up and down and clambering over roots and rocks. It's strange how YTers that do it that part seems to get less coverage.. Gee I wonder why lol 😏🤣🤣😉

Stunning location and felt brilliant to get the tent gear back out after such a long time. I'll need to work on my heating at night as the temp def dropped and really felt it. Something to work on. What day in May were you here? We heard the campsite was flooded about 3rd May. We are hoping to camp here next year. It looks great but not booking if it floods in bad weather. Thanks

    • @ScottsLand
      @ScottsLand  3 года назад

      Hi Heather I was there 30th April into the 1st May and the site was fine. They have a burn at the front and the Grey Mares tail waterfall coming off the hills at the back but it's all on a slight camber the site so I can't see it flooding too bad but that said we have had a massive amount of rain in May so it probably didn't help lol Typical Scottish weather lol. There is obviously no guarantee of how the weather will be but if your into camping then that's half the fun and the site does have indoor cooking facilities with tables and chairs to eat inside and washing machines and tumble dryer for wet kit. The midgie count is low which helps as well lol. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you manage to get out camping. Are you walking the West Highland way? Thanks again Take care 👍😁🥾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛺

      Im walking the West Highland Way for the second time next year with pals. The last time we BnB'd it but fancied camping next time. May is a good time to do it. We do all our big walks in May. We dont mind the wet. Will consider this campsite. Thanks for the reply. Take care.
