  • The R211T's (with open gangways) have debuted service on the "C" train back in February, and more R211A's (without open gangways) enter service on the "A" train. Enjoy some action with these new train cars, as well as the R179's and the increasingly rare R46's.
R211T's are a pilot set of trains with open gangways. There are two types of them: hard-shell gangways and soft-shell gangways. They are running on the "C" train instead of the "A" train, because of a temporary restriction that prohibits open-gangway sets from operating express.
The R211 contract, done by Kawasaki, calls for 1175 R211A cars (base order and option 1). Option 2, although not exercised yet, consists of an additional 437 cars which can either be R211A's or R211T's, depending on the results of the existing R211T's.
R211S's (for the Staten Island Railway) are currently undergoing acceptance testing and are not yet in service (at the time of posting).
Taken in 125th St (Manhattan), Utica Ave (Brooklyn), Rockaway Blvd (Queens), Howard Beach-JFK Airport, and Beach 44th St.
    Taken in August 2024.

I live in the Bronx so the A and C are services I normally don’t use, so I haven’t rode these new 211s yet. I would love to see them in person one day.

Looks like the number of R46’s on the (A) is finally dwindling.

Maybe the R211s may have been recalled, but during my visit in NYC I've observed mostly R211s

Nah, give them to Sixth Ave or Broadway, the J, L, M, and Z trains are fine with the R143s, R160s and R179s

@@Jackyliu009 what about the C train it should have the r143s, r160s, and r179s they all have 8 cars for the C line

Just leave its r179s there and have r211s replace r46s
