- Minecraft Preview 1.21.30.21 is here with some HUGE changes to the trial chamber, to item rarity, to banners, and a whole lot more!! It also means snapshot season is back in full swing and a new update soon!! Today we look at everything in the new minecraft beta for 1.21!

I am still holding out hope for an end update! Mojang has said they want to update the other dimensions first, and they have now! Maybe the end is nigh!
I love the rarity system and I’m happy that they decided to focus on it and update it.

I think that this may be a kind of hint at something. Currently Mojang never really focused on rarity of anything and kind of just gave it to whatever they felt was cool. But seeing as now they are focusing on it, to the point of how RPG games do it, well I feel as we may get some new items that are deserving of higher rarity...
I do have to agree with that one twitter comment that the nether star doesn't make any sense to be in the rare category.
stuff like the elytra and silence trim make sense because end ships are rare and ancient cities are very dangerous. but not having something that difficult to get not be among stuff like the elytra.
what's weird is the dragon egg isn't in any of the categories despite only having 1 per world.

Enchanted apple has the same rarity as the trident? Yeah, I’ll just fire up the ol’ enchanted apple farm…
they are now found in over 5 structures. I get like 7 per two ancient cities
@@anotherpromotorYou can make a simple trident farm in five minutes that averages a trident per minute. Yeah, idk about you but I’m not finding while fully looting ancient cities in 2-3 minutes each.
Well, it's pretty uneasy to find or get at start of the game, so they are rare

@@Brickproof tridents are super easy to get compared to enchanted golden apples. They’re farmable

If the banner pattern items can be used at Tolet paper then there is a massive problem, they roll under, true TP must roll over.
Only when TPing someone's house must TP roll under.

Ok, so if the netherite upgrade template is considered as "uncommon" and since there's a rule where if you use an item with a higher tier on a lower tier version (ex: crafting, smithing) then why isn't netherite gear at least uncommon? Also, if you apply the silence armour trim to armour does that make that piece of armour epic? Surely these oversights by the devs will be noticed right?

Those banner pattern item textures are absolutely FIRE and way overdue! Very nice!
Can finally use my 20 extra copies of guster and flow to decorate with.
they should TOTALLY retexture a few enchanted books, maybe not all of them but the maximum level ones to differentiate them from each other!
Or maybe the treasure enchantments swift sneak soul speed and wind burst so they looked sort of like their structure, like swift sneak might have some skulk growing on it

@@theloafs2622 Something like that, not every level of an enchant needs an icon, just the enchant type.
@@ycsawampfpycs2007 Maybe low levels have that standard texture, but the higher or max levels could have a slight difference in texture.
And I agree for enchanted books to have at least have a symbol or logo to distinguish with other enchantments.

I love these changes. Especially the hopper idea, as you don't have to open the chest and deal with the chest interface, freeing time to actually do the trials. Plus, good way to access hoppers. Encounters also seems like a fun idea.

Hey Wattles, I know you like world generation, and I ran into a fun one in my world recently.
Bedrock 1.21, Seed: -7274724984635950946
Firstly, there are 11 or 12 Ancient Cities within about a 2000 block square near World Spawn.
Secondly, at 1656, -50, 888 you can find an Ancient City the generated, and a Trial Chamber that generated so close to it that it buried some of the center of the city inside it's own generation.

What I recommend is they do the same with enchanted books as they did with banners because it's kinda confusing looking for the enchantment book you need cause they all look the same, and if they add this in you can easily notice the enchantment book you need or the enchantment book you got like from a chest or somethin.

The hopper to barrel is not a change I expected, but it does communicate to the players what is meant to be done so I guess its a good one!

Hmm I never realized there was rarity levels but I will say netherite swords being common is kinda wild same level as a wooden sword meanwhile elytra is epic as if thats hard to get 😅
Netherite sword is easier to obtain than elytra. You can get diamonds pretty quickly and netherite mining is super free if you have beds or a decent pickaxe. Just wear some good and then the upgrade isint too hard to get. The elytra requires you to essentially finish the game progression wise.
Enchanting a Netherite sword with Bane of the Arthropods III is wild. Absolutely wild.

In programming and software in general, deprecated (pronounced "deh·pruh·kay·tuhd") means old and potentially marked for deletion in the future, while still being kept around for backwards compatibility in the meantime. Hope this helps!
Can you explain petrified oak slab then? 😭
I always thought it was because it acts a bit like stone in which it needs you to use a pick axe to mine it and petrificatuon is the process of turning something to stone

With the new banner pattern textures I’m really hoping they change each enchantment book to be different, Ik it may be difficult due to books having multiple enchantments but hopefully a work around could happen
Is there a history article out there maybe on the wiki for Java and bedrock differences and parity changes? Like a complete list of everything not just the ones everyone knows
Yes, there is a quite detailed one in th minecraft wiki (Did you know that Bedrock has different sized salmons?).

That’s not the only issue with it and hopefully it will receive more reworks.
I don't know how to explain it to you, but items that can only be obtained from a certain building are rarer than items that can be obtained anywhere, for example, withered heads can only be obtained from nether fortresses. so it is rarer than ghast tears and ender gems can be obtained from certain biomes, so why is nether rarer than end crystals@@elbardo5778( and not all of them have a fortress, right ? )
@@elbardo5778To Craft an End Crystal, you need a Ghast Tear, an Ender Eye and Glass.

i wonder if that means we will get a purple rarity weapon like the mace but with a more water element focus like the trident since they’ve decided the trident is not at the same level as the mace
I think the changes are exclusive to bedrock since the bedrock tridents are super common

“Deprecated” means it’s no longer gonna be updated or fixed, and is planned to be removed from the game at some (usually undetermined) future date.
Edit: but, if they’re keeping it for backwards compatibility, they might not ever remove them.

For those of us who use hoppers, a few here and there isn't going to make m7ch of an impact when I need stacks of them
i feel like netherite should be uncommon tier. it's the only non renewable tool/armor in the game, and it's pretty tough to make, but you won't spend hours looking for a single chest in a single structure (looking at you, silence trim). once you have a single netherite upgrade, they're not too hard to get enough of

The reason for the barrel is it takes less lag for barrels and it does for chests

They are on the left looks a lot better and if you break the block closest to the left in the center down and you put stairs the right side it can make a little hole make it open up the center a little more I feel like that would look better

I have a theory, an encounter will eventually be a hallway that leads to a boss encounter room, maybe an inloutioner or copper themed boss fight.
I've been wondering this for so long I was like most of these chests that I've seen are empty chests. So they're going to have Hoppers and barrels that makes it clear that it's supposed to be for storage. Thank you Mojang I thought they were treasure everywhere I went. I swear

Can I just say that I'm glad that they change the design of the banner patterns? They always look the same and I couldn't differentiate unless I tapped it but I'm glad they're showing the actual patterns
Petition for the notch apple to remain epic rarity.
We had 3 loot filled updates the ancient cities, the trail ruins, and the trial chambers. The bundle would have been great for item management while exploring these structures.
i like the rarity concept, however, i don't like how they implemented it currently, there's really rare items shown as common or rare rn, i think an enchanted apple should be purple like it previously was. and netherite stuff should also be purple, i think they should add a higher rarity, that for example your max enchanted netherite sword would be extremely rare, so it should have like shining gold or some other color text

I believe another reason they changed the chests for a barrel and a hopper is to reduce performance issues caused by the chests
Which is funny, considering hoppers used to be one of the laggiest things in the game
@@sandwichqueen That is true but chests hold more data about the items that are in it compaired to hoppers thus causing it to be slightlu laggy. I could be wrong on this so do currect me if i am

@@locrianphantom3547 barrel use a different system compared to chests and chests are seen as a type of entity while the barrel is a type of a full block. Hope this helps
@@Shadow_Gamingplayz hoppers actually check if an item is above them constantly, which with a whole bunch caused lag.
I know bedrock chests are different which is why you can push them. I don't know enough about bedrock to give a definitive answer to wether or not it's better for performance, but on Java, now that I think about it, would increase performance demands.
Though I am no expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong

The rarity changes feel so natural and part of the game. We didn’t need this, but I’m glad it happened.

nether star is good in rare tier because no matter how hard you had to work to get it , it is still not any rarer. Wither skeletons will keep spawning , waiting to be killed.

I still think the new villager rebalance should be certain books are more common in certain biomes, instead of certain books only in certain biomes.
I hope they continue adding different textures for different items. I always hated dealing with maps and enchantment books due to this issue.

I like the new rarity system, but netherite definitely shouldn't be considered common. I usually have to spend double digits of hours mindlessly grinding for even just netherite armor, and I'd like a nice purple name for that torture.
That's very interesting so the encounter was one breeze I guess I can change and be any mob from the categories. But there's another section that leads to the assembly? Very interesting. It might not always lead into another chamber I'm guessing but that's actually very genius. I always thought the assembly underground looks like it could have used a little more
