@Wawawa yes but usually when MkLeo wins a match easily he barely has any reaction. The fact that he had a bigger reaction than usual shows that Protobanham pushed him to his limit and made him use everything he had to win.

The first set proto had stage control and from neutral was constantly chaining him to the ledge.
The cheese was when proto got a bit greedy and makes one down air to take a stock he was currently losing. Not to mention without Arsen the downair likely would not have connected.
Granted the platform grav was a cheese kill so neither party is clean here

I mean to be fair it looks like mkleo got two accidental stocks for these games and they totally saved his ass. Meanwhile proto was beating him pretty consistently.

It's not like he accidentally pressed down air in the right situation, he saw it coming because of the regrab or whatever. He also went for multiple of stage shenanigains and got a footstool but also lost and died for one. So saying it's accidental is just wrong
My god. The level of neutral that these two showed was the best I've seen in ultimate so far. What a set

These are the kind of sets I love. No sweeps or being one sided the entire time. Final game, both competitors down to their last stock and the crowd really into it.

marco gonzalez there is NO WAY you can find a Lucina who Up Bs as much as ProtoBanham
In Ultimate Lucina plays it more slow since she is a neutral based character. Proto does a good job of showing her punish game, but it is still not the best amount other top tiers. That’s why Leo did so well with her since his strongest pout is his neutral
Ult Lucina is not like Melee Marth. Melee Marth can play both a super heavy punish game or a slow neutral as shown by M2K and PPMD respectively
The only person able to stand up against Leo's Joker was a Lucina, a character Leo also played, sort of ironic

Most Lucina's are, Proto's just got a really cool way of playing her.
Even without his Min Min and pre nerfed joker Protobanham was very capable of beating Leo back in the day. Proto did mess up a few times and I feel like if he didn’t he could’ve possibly won this set

Okay. If you're looking to learn either of these characters, study this set. This was phenominal. Fantastic neutral on both sides, great situational awareness. This could have easily gone either way, and those are the best matches to watch.
Alright I’ve seen enough. Hope the best for all the other competitors but we’ll seriously be missing out if these two don’t see each other again. Crazy this was for top 16 smh smash community gotta pay better attention to its international players!!
If Proto attended more tournaments he'd definitely would've been seeded higher. He's only been to 3 total so they can't seed him as accurately.

I hope this shuts up the "JoKeR is BroKen" people. This was a very close game because Proto learned the match up, adapts fast, and is a great player. It very easily could've gone to Proto. With time, more people will be able to deal with Joker, so hold off the nerfs balancing team!

Joker is a pretty fair top tier all things considered imo
Joker is still a top tier no doubt about it even without arsene. My argument always goes towards people that try and under sell how good this character is
Evo he is. However some would rather complain and beg for nerfs instead of learning to get good. They’d rather a character get downgraded so they can win more easily than get better at the game.
Da Blues yeah Joker is definitely good, even without Arsene. Nowhere near broken as some are saying. It’s like saying something is “broken” or “needs a nerf” is the default behaviour to have whenever someone loses instead of looking at their own shortcomings.

4 years later and I still think this is the only time MKLeo has been shield broken in bracket.
Even besides that, Proto is amazing. He even makes Min Min fun to watch, which is a Herculean task.
I’ll never not love him for his Lucina though. She was my first main and he’s the inspiration for me to keep her on as one of my mains to this day.

MkLeo is not only the best player in the world. He is also the best Lucina in the world. This Protobanham dude didnt have much of a chance.
With that said, my respect for Protobanham. He did a better match against MkLeo, than the so called "top players", like Samsora and Marss, who can only cry and complain about balance after being 3stocked by Leo.

Arsene is there to power boost joker so he can actually have a chance in a fight.

Amazing set, the only two things negative that I have to say is that poor Proto had that last match but that SD cost him imo. Also, Proto had that edge guard but due to Joker putting back on the mask and getting rid of Arsene thus becoming invincible, Proto missed out on the kill there because of just bad timing for the meter to run out.

@@jamesgreenwood1703 Of course not, but considering that Leo was at 83%, that f-air possibly could've killed him and brought the match back to even. What could Leo do to avoid getting hit there though? Lucina outranges him with the sword, he can't jump because the f-air covered above too. His only real option was to air dodge but Proto could then ledge trump once Leo got back to ledge. But because Arsene went away at that exact moment, the invincibility outlasted Lucina's f-air allowing him to jump over and get back safely. I just don't see a way that Leo would've made it back without being in disadvantage or even losing that stock.
