I’m really enjoying your videos. Congratulations on your great results! I do have a question as to how you seal and prepare your wood prior to applying the airbrush paint. Also have you had any issues with tannins from certain types of wood (ex. cedar) eventually bleeding through to the paint layer?
Thank you J Taylor! I seal with insta-cure or polyurethane. Haven't had any issues with tannins bleeding through. If you are worried about it you can seal the wood, then clear coat it and paint over the clearcoat. That will give you a really smooth surface to paint on. When you're done you can clearcoat again to protect the paint.
You started with white....white what.....primer? White Createx? You didn't say. What I need is someone to start from the beginning. Some say you can't paint over epoxy...some say you can paint over polyurethane......yet I see people doing it. I want to do it the right way.
I use opaque white Createx, but I'm sure other brands would work just as well. I paint over epoxy and polyurethane all the time. In fact, I have found that epoxy makes a really smooth surface to paint on, especially if you start foiling lures. Thanks for your questions and for watching!
Hi. I got a question. Will a resin lure withstand the fight with a tuna or dorado? And will it last if it does?
A resin lure can take a lot of abuse and keep working. The paint may get knocked off, but the lure will keep working.
Great Lure !! What type of epoxy did you use for the final seal coat? 5 Minute ? 30 Minute? Thx
I think I was using 30 minute epoxy for this lure. I really like TruCoat and would reccomend it over the 30 minute epoxy. Thanks for watching!

Beautiful work! Also on the stripped marlin scheme. If you don't mind me asking, where do you get your eyes from?
These are from Brule Outdoors. They make a wide variety of colors and sizes.
@@zimmtex thank you
👍👍👍
I appreciate it!
Send some lures. Hello from Maldives 🇲🇻
I like that enthusiasm, thanks for watching!
If you started with yellow then why are you painting over white. It looks to me you started with white.
Yes, I always start with opaque white (createx). It makes whatever color you paint very bright.
