I was surprised that no one on the podcast said one of the most obvious (and controvesial) things about Karens. They enjoy the power they have and exercising it over individuals and groups that are less socially powerful than them. The fact that people in power enjoy putting down other groups and individuals is both an incredibly obvious and strangly taboo fact. Racists enjoy being racists. Karens enjoy being Karens. It doesn't just make them feel powerful or safe put other people down and put other lives at risk, they definitely get an endorphin rush when they do.

I can't stand people who call the cops for every little thing. They need to stop. However, more of us need to ask for a manager or speak to a supervisor. We can't let these huge corporations get away with anything. They make billions of dollars off of us as consumers and the way a regular person can help is by holding them accountable in this way. Just make it about everyone, is all I'll say about that. "Please, Mr. Manager, open a register so that people can be on their way (as 20 people wait in a single line as if they have nothing else to do in their very busy lives).
The reason asking for a manager has negative connotations now is because Karens have been abusing their power as the consumer anytime they don't get their way. Not everyone who asks for a manager is a Karen, but the majority of them are. Speaking from experience from working in custimer service.
She is weaponizing her race against a Black person including children. Children are easy targets Do you remember the White female called the police on a Black female student when she was relaxing in the common lounge? I forgot which college it made the news. Another example is the White woman calling the police on the Black children who were selling water on the street. The woman calling the police on an entire family for having a barbecue in a public park where barbecuing was allowed. Every Black person especially older Black people. I grew up in the 70s. This is left over behavior from Jim Crow how they used to talk and treat Black people. You don't belong in this space or if I can't get my way I'm going to call someone in authority
There’s nothing wrong with calling the police, it’s just abusing police is wrong, but the question is how do you fix this problem without taking the ability to call the police?
Yes, it is wrong when u call because someone is sitting in a car/people u don't recognize parked on a public street, parking lot or coming out of a house!
@@lunalea1250 again it didn’t answer my question. Society needs a police force or something like it. Before cops you had guards and military/militias to protect people. And people shouldn’t abuse police power by calling them on insignificant things. But how do you fix this without taking police abilities to protect and serve?
@@lunalea1250 maybe I didn’t make myself clear and don’t answer what exactly did you say? I don’t know how to fix this problem. You say don’t call the police on random people. I don’t think that’s possible because people with erratic behavior should be checked on by an authority figure. I don’t think people should be checked on if they’re acting totally normal. But if you fine people for checking on someone normal that shouldn’t be penalize. It’s hard to determine who’s a threat and if you have someone who habitually abuses the system then they’ll be ignored. What I don’t understand is how you don’t see that? Nobody likes being checked on by the cops I can feel my blood pressure rise every-time I see those lights or hear that sound. But you’ll never live in a society without ops or a similar authority figure. So what can do? I don’t want to roam the streets without some kind of police force or authority figure. Who do I call when someone is being aggressive? You might as well carry a club around and wear a loincloth like some kind of barbarian.

another problem with casualising this type of bigotry is that it gives bigots the opportunity to ignore the work they need to do. if you tell someone they should be better, maybe they'll feel shame. if you just say "ok karen," then karen just says "i guess i don't have to change. this is just what i am. this is what society expects from me and i don't have to do any introspection at all." you don't want to go so far over to the "this is not a problem of individuals" side that you let the individuals making the problem off the hook.
from the transcript "“Look, if you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it” you would be pissing yourself with fright if some random stranger who outmatched you physically said that to you.

No he threatend her. He said "You will not like what I will do to your dog." He also spoke out against her prosecution and is not testifying against her or cooporating with the DA in any other form.
He never did and you know that. Amy Cooper threatened him by saying I am going to call the police, he said do whatever you like. She then call the cops and said - there is a Black man threatening me and my dog. Calling the cops on anyone can have deadly consequences. The man in central park admitted to threatening the woman. This video is not starting on the side of facts. The dialogue of the video is an exercise of racism. Voiced by people that believe in acceptable racism . What's determining factor of this acceptability ? Unbelievably it's the race of the target. Racism is a belief that can be held and put into action by anyone with no exemptions.

Oh, the Karen that comes to mind is the teacher on the show Everybody Hates Chris.
She’s more of a white feminist 😆
Love this episode. I was laughing when she said I'm paraphrasing how about minding you own business, can't remember the exact words.
