Hey man love the work. The wife has a 5.3 Suburban with Pacesetter LTs and Pacesetter Catless Y pipe with a magnaflow muffler(she ain't crazy on loud exhausts just power lol) what supporting mods did you do too accommodate the cam? Did you run a different converter with a higher stall? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
I got a 01' 2500HD. Its a tow truck. Id love it if it chopped like that but im gonna go for more torque. Im gonna freshen up a 6.0 (for longevity not racin lol) Hopefully the BTR Torque cam wakes it up alittle bit
I did the same on my 07 avalanche, but used pace setter 1 3/4” longtubes, pace setter 3” y-pipe, cherry bomb salute series muffler. After about 3 months my torque converter started slipping, there is 170k miles on it tho, so it’s due for an upgrade. Since I need a new torque converter, gonna go ahead and go with the stage 4 cam, 3200 circle D TC.
I have heard many BTR stage 2 truck cams in 5.3's, none have sounded as good as this one. Its either in the tune or something about the exhaust. Oh, and I bet your from south Louisiana.
I have an 06 Tahoe I just put a stock LQ9 in and I have some ported and milled 243s to bump the compression to11.3, ported Fast LSXRT 102mm intake, 4" CAI with Ls7 MAF, 1 3/4" headers, ORY, Flowmaster dual 3" to 4" merge to a stock Duramax catback with a Borla 4" SI/SO muffler. How does the Stage 2 perform in a SUV as heavy as the GMT800? I'm on the fence between the Stage 2 or 3 since I have an iron LS2 with worked heads, intake and more compression
Does this reduce MPG? Id like to boost my 2500 lower end torque without buying a diesel but if MPG gets too bad ill just get another truck altogether for towing
So what's it like to drive? Is it a daily? Been looking at this combo for my 04 Tahoe. But it's our main family vehicle and the wife doesn't want anything too loud or overly rowdy at stoplights and such. (She's just gotta take the fun out of everything. 🤣🤣🤣)
I bought a BTR stage 2 and watch tons of these videos and I do not understand why some sound basically stock and some sound badass like yours. Are they just getting a bad tune? THAT different of a tune on a level that makes it sound THAT different. 5.3 ls engines. Exhaust aside some of them just sound so different. Most sound the sameish. Feel some guys got straight robbed my guess is just the tune maybe a few headers/ resonators/ mufflers making it sound better on some trucks and emphasizing the chop more where others have stock pipes maybe?
No issues at all with the stock converter, down side would be that the power really comes in at around 3000rpm and a stall would help get you out of the hole quicker. I tow a boat and a car trailer, so a stall for me would not be good for towing.
@@reavesbj gotcha! I won't be pulling much of anything at this point in time. More so doing it to wake it up a little and give it a mean thump. Just don't wanna mess with the convertor or have it become a problem later on due to the cam! Sounds good man.
@@reavesbj so u say it don’t kicks in until about 3k rpm’s, so what’s the difference in the stage 2 vs the stage 3? I Have an 79 Malibu lq4 swap with 4l60e & 3.73 gears. Trying to see what’s an good cam choice. How you think they will work with an 2500 stall? Wouldn’t mind using an 2500 stall(maybe a 3k), but want to b able to drive around town & Highway. So I don’t want it to feel lose on the lower end, I want it to be tight as possible of idle
@@OOLilDel I would go stage 3 with 3,000 stall to 3,400. That's what I would have done if it weren't for towing sometimes. Stage 3 starts to lose some power on the bottom of the rpm band, but gains at the top. You wouldn't see the power gains unless you where under wot. Just my 2 cents, someone smarter than me may see it differently.
Haha, that's so true. The funniest part is my wife got irritated this weekend. She said she's tired of pulling up at food lion or the gas station and some guy asking " What you got done to that thing?" Her " I don't know, my husband did something to it, he's an idiot..."
Man this thing sounds sick. Looking at this cam for my truck. How does it drive? Is it possible to daily drive it? Did you change any torque converter, gearing etc? Could you show more about the cutout and the other internal upgrades thAt you did along with the cam? Valve train etc
Drive it daily no issues. Stayed with the stage 2 so I didn't have to change the torque converter. Ill try and do another video with it up in the air, to show everything better. I used the btr stage 2 truck cam kit, it came with the beehive springs. I installed the new pushrods and ls7 lifters, they are not part of the kit. Love the cam, good power, good sound and no affect on driving. My wife drives it more than I do.
@@reavesbj With the cam you did get the cam that uses your stock springs? How much difference could you tell on acceleration and finally what gears and converter are you running.
Awesome. When you need a family hauler and hot rod at the same time
Damn that is a clean engine bay I could never with my 02 Chevy Tahoe
I have identical burban and this just made me decide the cams the way to go.
Ok that shop is round my way I live in Durham I’m thinking about doing this same setup for my ‘11 Silverado
Love the suburban
In ohio we call a lot of that description a cat less system or "race pipes". I like this video.
Keep us updated. I am in the middle of a BTR Stage 2 v2 truck cam swap in a 2008 LY6 6.0 for my 71 Jimmy.
Hows the 6.0 liking that cam
small cam for a 6.0
I would have loved to hear a rev with the cutout !!!!!

I appreciate that, haha and southern va. Same town Ward Burton is from, I've heard people say the accent is different. Course I don't realize it.

Does it actually do better in a race with the cutouts ???

Do u still have it

Can you tell me which BTR stage 2 truck cam you bought? I see a few different ones listed.
Should be the truck cam
@@TopShotta713 BTR has 3 stage 2 truck cams listed.
What was the cost for everything?
I got a 4.8 kinda tempted to put on a stage 4 cam

What are the specs on the cam

Where can I find that cam and headers at?

Isnt that a vortec no an LS ?

@@reavesbj I’m planning on putting a cam on my Silverado and making a RUclips video. Hopefully everything goes smoothly

That's right
Great simple video thank you
Reacesbj do you still have catalytic converters on the tahoe ?
No, I got a catless y pipe from kooks
Did you change torque converter, valve springs?
Yes had to change the valve springs. I didn't change the converter because I still tow a boat and car trailer with it.
What did it all cost with out exhaust
Thank you…
Doing this 💥
Kooks y pipe....high cost stainless
did you have any change in vacuum to your brake booster? I put this cam in my c10 and not my brake booster isnt getting enough vacuum
