Another trick, air pots ( or fabric root prune pot, air pots are my favorite), plant in that for about 2 years then transfer into a large normal pot. If you have grow lights they make them grow faster but once you transfer from a root pot to a regular pot it will take off with crazy new growth. The root pot just establishes thinner feeder roots that soak up water and nutrients more efficiently so when you transfer it those roots are no longer restricted and the plant takes off with more top growth to fuel more root growth.
Your rubber tree is beautiful . You obviously know what your doing . Mine is doing very well on my patio but it’s not bushy like yours . I’m going to have to build up the courage to trim it /:
Hi Albert, Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching and commenting here! I chopped my rubber tree and made about 4 other trees with it. It was getting so big an I didn't have anywhere to put it. hahahaa
I would repot in a year. Fertilize each time you water! 1/4 tsp per gallon. Make sure you have it where it can see the sky and that you let it dry out between watering so…thank you for watching and commenting ♥️❤️🪴
Oh dear! I missed this comment! Very sorry! I think you’d have to hire a tree company to cut it down if you don’t want it anymore? 😂 they are beautiful but yes they get huge…Thank you so much for watching and commenting 💕🪴
Great and very helpful video! Love the idea of wine Wednesday too. I have this same Ficus and it's one of my favorites and such a fast grower, I am definitely going to prone it more so it branches out better. Do you happen to know any tips on the the white variegated ficus elastic? One stem is doing amazing and the other stem, the edges of the leaves are soft and brown. It's by a south facing window, I pulled it back awhile ago to see if that was the case, it wasn't. I am wondering if its maybe a disease. I've re-potted it, it is so strange none of my other variegated plants do that.
Hi Elsa! Your focus Tineke might be over watered or have disease or both? I would cut off infected leaves and go from there. Let the soil considerably dry out between waterings... make sure it's pulled back a few feet from window... these steps may help? Or, check the roots. It might have root rot and need rehab there. Let me know how it goes! Thanks for watching my videos💚💚😍💚💚
Yea, check those roots... there might be some root rot happening.. if you see or smell something off, cut it off those roots ( if you see notable discoloration or translucency or slimy/ funky looking roots.) Let me know how it goes! Thanks for watching my videos💚💚😍💚💚
It's easy to underestimate ur channel comapred to other plant related channels but after watching some of your vids like this one i have to say you provide amazing information completely backed up by your experiences (and also matching the experiences i had so far with these plants) and very densely packed in such shorter vids.. really a gem and deserves far more subscribers *thumbs up*

Great info! I’m new to house plants and fell in love with my rubber plant. We have been through a lot. At first it was nice and full then had in a place it must not have liked or I was watering too much, because it was dropping its leaves. I put it a new spot with more light and it looks better and it’s growing leaves but they are very small. Any idea why they would be so small?
Because it’s not receiving as much light, trust me the more light the better, I keep all mine growing directly under the grow lights indoors and in high humidity from humidifier not only are the leaves bigger but they grow faster. Fertilizer using a 10-10-10 or 16-16-16 but dilute the fertilizer do half or quarter from what is recommended by the company. I use 16-16-16 quarter tsp. Per gallon and fertilize every two weeks. Do not fertilize in winter months. Between the lighting and humidity and fertilizer no joke every time it puts out a big leaf another one is already coming. I can almost guarantee you this will give you bigger leaves and faster growth. I have four tineke and six ruby rubber trees and everyone has shown promising results by this after testing everything out you could think of. It’s more work but worth it with the results
Hi lovely lady, I just subscribed and cant wait to go through your videos lol. I now have about 60 plants and counting from propagation. You can say I've been researching to be a good plant parent like you. Do you keep you humidifier on constantly? If not how long to you keep it on? Thank you for teaching us how to enjoy the love for our plant babies. You're so awesome. I just wanted to also tell you I appreciate your time you put into your videos. Both over and under-watering can cause leaf curl on rubber plants. Allow the soil to dry slightly between watering, then water deeply, using room temperature water, until water leaks through the drainage hole. Low humidity can also cause leave curling. Do you have a humidifier? Are you on a watering schedule? Thank you for watching my videos! 💚😍💚

I purchased a leaf cutting and two months later, still no roots. I will never buy a leaf cutting again. When you said fast grower, I was wondering where?
Hi Snoopdoggydog! Where did you get the cutting? I put my cuttings directly in soil and give them great lighting, temperatures between 80 and 90, and great humidity. My cuttings rooted over the summer and my plant doubled in size! Plant growth rate depends lately on the environment.
Thank you for your kind words! 🪴❤️ The variegated species requires more sunlight when indoors, I have found. I keep mine in a south facing window. Thank you for watching and commenting!🪴🌱❤️♥️

plantluxxe hey Krista can you tell me what kind of soil mixture would you suggest for the rubber tree and do you let it dry out completely before watering? Thanks for the help
No fear! You are either over watering or underwarering. . . Sounds like under. . . Place in a well lighted area, free from cold winter drafts. It loves heat and humidity. Pot it UP. Sounds like it's big and might be suffering from a lack of new good soil or nutrients or ? I am giving a guess, but try those things. . . Keep me posted! Thank you for subbing and viewing my videos!
Fantastic plant. Love the bun girl! British people luv a nice bun. Just sayin. Wonderful video. I learned a lot. Turn your plant line champagne. Quarter turn!!!
Oh dear....milking trees isn't something that we are equipped to do here on plantluxxe. Hopefully, you can find information about that on the world wide web? However, Thank you so much for watching my videos!
You do know that those type of trees should never be planted in suburban areas. They will destroy everything with their roots over time. Nice when they small. It's a terrible idea for long term. It will lift up your pavement, and destroy your foundation. End up with digging up everything and it's a price and a half. My advice ,rather go do a search about this type of plant/tree then listening to someone who has no clue what long term will do
Hi there! This video discusses the rubber tree as being grown as an indoor house plant…. The video does not discuss planting this tree outside. This channel is a indoor houseplant channel. Namaste.🙏
IMPORTANT: This is a good tip but I tell you what. I had a rubber plant. Fortunately, someone advised to move it away from the pool. Now it is in a corner of my yard. It looks beautiful BUT... out of control. It has become a monster of about 50 feet tall and a diameter formed by new sprouts that over the years form a huge and I mean huge trunk of about 5 by 3 feet. Now, to cut it, it costs $4000 t0 $5000 and I am also afraid of possible accidents. The roots have crawled from the tree to about 25 feet away. You may not want this tree in your back yard.
Hi Ligia! My apologies for such a late reply, but I somehow missed your comment....I juggle many work and domestic responsibilities here and sometimes miss comments. Yikes. I am glad I saw it now though, so that I can finally respond...haha WOW....so you rubber tree grew out of control? Yikes, expensive and annoying to get a bill like that, right? Very sorry to hear that! However, one consideration for someone in your climate who likes the look and beauty of a rubber tree should consider only keeping it in a pot, and not planted in the ground. A pot can control the total and overall size of the plant to a great extent. Keeping it in a pot would eliminate the out of control size and invasive nature of the plant. The tree will only get as large as the pot that it lives in. Something to think about? And, it sounds like it costs a lot of money to cut down...yikes! I do think that it's cool that you can grow these outside in your area because here in Virginia, as in many areas of USA not zoned for outdoor tropical plants, we cannot grow these outdoors. But keep it in a POT...thank you for sharing, and lesson learned for anyone looking to plant this outdoors.....beware...hahhaha! Thanks for watching my video!
Another trick, air pots ( or fabric root prune pot, air pots are my favorite), plant in that for about 2 years then transfer into a large normal pot. If you have grow lights they make them grow faster but once you transfer from a root pot to a regular pot it will take off with crazy new growth. plantluxxe hey Krista can you tell me what kind of soil mixture would you suggest for the rubber tree and do you let it dry out completely before watering? Thanks for the help
@@sharfinbean3362 she just talked about the kind of soil at the beginning of the video, hope that helps.
Doggies all the way 🐶
🐶 🐕 Thank you so much🙏♥️ and also thank you for watching and commenting 💕🪴
Hi my rubber tree‘s leaves are falling ! And some are dropping what should i do? For a 6ft tree how much should i give water (in the winter) thank you
@@plantluxxe should i repot it? In the middle of winter?
@@plantluxxe i live in montreal and it’s snowing here! I thought i should wait in april before repotting it! ?
@@plantluxxe i wish i could send you a picture
Babe
😂 thank you! I needed to hear that today🪴💕
Fantastic plant. Love the bun girl! British people luv a nice bun. Just sayin.
Wonderful video. I learned a lot. Turn your plant line champagne. Quarter turn!!!
Have you ever milked your tree?
Oh dear....milking trees isn't something that we are equipped to do here on plantluxxe. Hopefully, you can find information about that on the world wide web? However, Thank you so much for watching my videos!
I ❤ rubber trees! I make my own rubber :)
@@chadwolfeschledgelsteinhau9697 that’s amazing! Very 😎 cool!!

Beautiful plants
Thank you so much!
Yikes. I am glad I saw it now though, so that I can finally respond...haha
WOW....so you rubber tree grew out of control?
Beautiful ficus... Could you tell me what the hanging maroon plant in the background is? it's really pretty.
It must be wandering jew
