    Aiden is right about the flea-flicker.

  • @christophermckinney3924
    @christophermckinney3924 Год назад +53

    The flea flicker is a play where the QB hands or pitches the ball to a RB who then turns and flicks it back to the QB. This freezes the defense into thinking it’s a running play. They pause just long enough for the receivers to get behind the defensive backs and get separation for a wide open pass.
    The down side is the play can take a long time to develop and lead to a sack if protection breaks down. But I’m my experience it seldom does. It works more often than it doesn’t.

    In the Oregon highlight - the reason no one covered the receiver is because it was an offensive lineman. In the split second it looked like a run, everyone committed and left him alone. Teams run a play like this maybe once a season, so it's hard to prepare for.

      Maybe next time you could time stamp because it's hard to find which one are you pertaining to with these much plays shown. I mean, you have to find which of these plays are Oregon.

      @@Somm_RJ This one starts at 1:17. They made a big deal questioning the blown coverage, so I assumed people would remember the clip. I forget that not everyone watching these is as familiar with all the teams.

    A "Flea Flicker" is a play that starts out as a run but ends up as a deep pass.
    The play will start with the quarterback (QB) handing the ball off to the running back (RB).
    He'll then approach the line of scrimmage as if he were attempting a normal running play.
    At the last minute, before he reaches the line of scrimmage, the RB will "flick" the ball back to the quarterback.
    The QB will then then launch a deep pass downfield to a wide receiver (WR) who's running a Go route.

    1:19 I was in the crowd for this game, holy smokes it was this moment all of us CU fans knew we were gonna lose, and then this play came a short time later 7:11, eh tickets were free so still fun
    The fact CU has shown up on the losing end 5 fives in this video, thankfully they gutted and rebuilt they coaching staff hopefully we get better this year

    On the Oregon/Colorado play early in the vid. The "Trick" of it, (and why he was so wide open), was because he wears the number 94. Players who can handle the ball wear certain numbers.
    The exception is, a player who wears a "non-eligible" number, can report to the referee that he is going to line up in an eligible position for the next play. If the defense (coaches) doesn't notice a #94 lining up in an eligible position... you get that.

    @tyreek.6815 Год назад

    Side note for yall. If you ever watch a football game or see it live... a ref will broadcast to everyone and say so and so "is an eligible receiver" meaning that offensive linemen that was called out can catch the ball down field. If they're not eligible then the play would result in an "illegal man down field" penalty, whether or not if the play was targeted for them. People are saying its bc it was a linemen which was why they were wide open (which is half true), when in reality it was just bad defense bc by rule the lineman has to be broadcasted out to everyone saying they're allowed to catch the ball. So in actuality someone blew the coverage and over committed.

    No Aiden is correct the flea flicker is when the RB fakes the run then pitches it back to the QB, since the defense initially sees a run playing it makes the CB abandon the WR to move up and stop the run, leaving the WR wide open for the QB once he gets the ball back from the RB…
    To stop this the Def needs to be in a man to man formation so no matter what the CB stays with the WR, at least that one of many def play that could stop it

    Unless the rules changed, the fake field goal, where the kicker took the ball from the holder and ran to the endzone, would be overturned.
    I worked with High School and Semi-Pro for 23 seasons. College and lower leagues stop play when the knee is down. The holder's knee was on the ground before the pitch to the kicker.
    (In semi-pro, you run into that in scrimmages outside your league. Some leagues play NFL rules, some play college rules.

    • @michaelash8552
      @michaelash8552 Год назад

      Having a knee down to hold for the kick does not end the play for a holder. Otherwise every PAT/FG play would end as soon as the holder caught the ball. They are allowed to get up and run with the ball, which you see when there is a bad snap (commonly called a fire drill)

    I'm gonna doubt your claim of "best sports channel" when you clearly don't know about Britain Covey. Which is a bit of an irony. Two Brits don't know about Britain. . . . . I am biased because the U of U is my alma mater, but Covey was just a super nova packed into a pint. Some times on some high school football games you see the short kid and you ask yourself jokingly, "Who let the pee wee kid on their team?" Covey kind of looked like that on the college level. He was shorter than most of his teammates and defenders he went against and he made them eat his dust.
    Seriously check out one of his college highlight reels because he was just one of those mini juggernauts. It took multiple hundred pound defenders to take him down.
