    My wiring harness was zip tied in behind the speaker...had to remove speaker to find it. Was not on the outside of interior door as shown on video. Can also tie a string to the wires so you pull a string through as you remove old wiring. then tie the new harness on the string and pull your new harness back through.

    If you have Manual Mirrors on your Ford Super Duty Truck you do not need to remove the door panel. You only need to remove the small upper panel to expose two of the mounting nuts.

    Good video, did the job in 45 minutes, did loose a nut in the door but the replacement came with new ones so I did not chase it out. Thank you for such a clear video.

    Thank you for showing me the way to put towing mirrors onto my 2003 F-250 6.0l.
    I luckily had the wiring all wired up for the heating and blinkers, etc. That was the headache I wasn't looking forward to. I am super stoked that I got it all done in about 1.5 hours. Much appreciated! I am happy with my purchase, but now I just hope the glass mirrors don't rattle like a few ratings suggested. I chose the look that you put on, but not OEM, I don't think. Was about $149 for the set on Amazon with the best ratings out of all the mirrors that would fit. I used the old rubber seal because the new ones were very thin, cheap foam. Thanks again!

    Disconnecting the battery to do this job is completely unnecessary, but I appreciate this video as it helped me figure out how to get to the mirror harness to unplug it.

    I’m not really good at making repair, but had no issue. I was shocked I did not drop the nut in the door. Just tilt the racket handle downward to hold the nut and pretend it is a game of operation. I used a hook to pull the cable through for the mirror connection (fat hands). I would suggest lowering the window first before unhooking the battery. It makes handling the mirror much easier. I had a duh moment.

    i know it's 11 years later, but fantastic video!!! I HATE working on my '99 F-250 SD and figured there wasn't any way in heck Ford would require taking the whole dang door panel off just to unplug the mirror. Alas, I was wrong. Excellent video, but terrible design by Ford!

    To prevent losing a nut from a socket, try using a small piece of paper over the end of the socket to make a tighter fit on the nut.

    I have a 2001 F350 7.3L Crew Cab and mine doesn't have a mirror connector on the door. The wires go from the harness through the hole into the mirror. I took the dust cover off the mirror outside and it then goes into the arm and then into the mirror. PS I found out someone had cut the stock connector off and hard wired it in. Also my connector I found out on the passenger side is round not rectangular. Does anyone know what shapes go with what years? Thanks for the tips 1A Auto, love your videos. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keep a magnet handy to place alongside the socket extension and the nut will stick to it and not fall in the door.

    This is a great video, and I just completed an install of my side mirror. My only problem was that I did not put the window down prior to starting. If you are going to replace one of these heavy mirrors, dont do like me and have to reconnect the harness to open the window mid project.

    So as far as I can see.... for my '02 F350..
    For "manual" mirrors, I shouldn't have to take the door panel off...
    Is that right?-- or am I missing something...?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  5 лет назад

      Thank you for checking us out. The door panel would still need to be removed in order to gain access to the mounting bolts behind the panel that are attaching the mirror. Hope this helps you out! +calholli

  • @1AAuto
    @1AAuto  12 лет назад

    @stlouissux9119 You could test the switch with a test light to see if there's power going to it and from it. That way it would take the switch out of the equation if it was working.

    Thanks for he video. BUT! Please add at the start if you have manual mirrors with no heat skip all this except popping off the top panel. Naturally as yours did my reflector broke, as did the clip on the other panel by the switches. Old and brittle. I am a BMW Master Tech so should have had enough sense to not follow all directions step by step.

    Is there a way to test your switch? I have a lariat 99 f250 and my mirrors have never been power. I have never known why they don't work I haven't really looked into it. I have the switch for auto mirrors. I want to upgrade to automatic superduty mirrors but I don't want to buy them if they're not going to work.

    It really depends on how your truck is wired, we have had customers buy the updated 08+ style mirrors made for the pre 08 trucks. Some of those customers did have the directional, power and puddle light work with the new tow mirror. If you have the dealer run the VIN number for you, they may be able to tell you if the wiring is there on your truck, so that the added features would work. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

    @1aauto The mirror fuse (4 under the drivers wheel) is not blown. I checked my connection to the switch and it is connected. They are power mirrors i'm trying to figure out why neither one works. Is there a way to test the switch? Sounds like it may have gone bad unless there is a relay somewhere but I don't believe there is.
