Thornbury, one of Corbyn's assassins!
So was Starmer
So glad ET has been discarded…. Hopefully she will resign
of “corbyn’s assassins”, thornbury is very much low down on the list. imo, streeting, kendall, nandy, reeves (all of whom are interestingly now in the cabinet) played a much more prominent role.
Break the law, fiddle your expenses and get a cabinet seat in a Labour government. Way to go.
Is this what Starmer means by cleaning up politics?
That's the new changes Kier has made to labour. But it looks a lot like the old 'new labour party '
Good and bad treated with the same contemptuous scrutiny.
Expenses and taxes fiddling. Benefits Fraud ...................
Business as usual 😂😂😂p
Wasn't Jacqui Smith caught fiddling expenses??...... ahh so that's how you get into the House of Lords is it?
Claiming for watching dodgy films, look it up
@@summer5145 wasn’t that her husband?
@@davidhodgson3901 I don't blame her husband given how she looks.
Racked up over £157k in expenses and repaid £400 for some dodgy videos 😂
Blamed her husband although he wasn't responsible for putting the claim in 🙄
Yeah it was her husband, I believe it cost them there marriage.
I'm glad Labour got the big win, so the British can see what they're capable of and if they're socialist party or Tories in red!!! ...... We all know nothing will change, and I can't understand how British people and same with Western societies all voting the two main political parties and claim that's democracy?!! ..... How can it be democracy voting only the two main political parties? ......
Lib Dems got 71 seats
Smith coming back reminds me of everything that I hated about the last Labour government.
Peter Kyle let the cat out of the bag on Thornberry on the PM programme. When asked if he'd miss her, he said that the party needed people from all parts of the Labour "landscape", thus admitting that this was just another petty sectarian move by Starmer.
Really surprising - wasn’t Jacqui just ‘ disgraced’ but also considered to be an incompetent minister? Puzzling decision by Keir - ethically and politically.
Do you remember (2012?) when Smith cancelled a long awaited pay panel approved Police salary increase. They never recovered and as they leave the service the University educated take over. That's going well.
She's horrible
I suspect that Hermer will last as long he gives Starmer the advice he wants to hear. If he tells him he's illegally supporting war crimes in Palestine, he'll be gone faster than you can say "Martin Forde".
Or 'David Nutt'
Great job Sir Kier. Got rid of the International Law breaking Rwanda fraudulent scam
He's already said it, publicly. But that was when Starmer wasn't yet PM and saying anything other than that delivered to him by Bibi's agents was politically lethal.
Quite. See my comment above. See also Lady Victoria Starmer. Guess what her religious affiliation is.
Or he'll say something anti-semitic like 'How many more Palestinians are to be killed before something is done?'..
Emily Thornberry went from someone I didn't really object to very much to someone I thoroughly loathed in in those two sentences in that interview. Didn't really find her objectionable before: absolutely disgusting genocide fangirl afterwards.
She's my MP, I voted green. Sorry man I did my best.
In her defence, if she'd have said anything else, she would have lost her job as MP. Which you know maybe she should have been brave enough to accept.
Ditto!
@@abdvs325 well, quite, when the choice is “genocide apologia” and “maybe lose my job” I don’t know that this is so hard a choice. I’d not want to trainwreck my rep with my constituents by cosying up with the absolute worst people in the world. So yeah, fair point. Not the brave move.
She said what she really thought when she saw the St George's crosses on a housing estate in Rochester in 2014 and got pilloried for it. Probably decided that just repeating mantras was wiser.
Timpsons was founded 1903... he's looking pretty good as the "founder"
1865
She parroted starmer and then effectively got sacked for it. This guy 😂
Assange in prison for 5 years was criminal
Agreed. Roger Hallam imprisoned on remand for several months on a "conspiracy to cause a public nuisance" charge likewise. He's out now but remains tagged and curfewed. Political detention is alive and well in Britain.
Agree entirely. He should have been handed over to the USA straight away.
@@letsalleatpork Why? For revealing the crimes of the US?
@@letsalleatpork Certainly. That great bastion of democracy....NOT!
@@letsalleatpork Nah. He should've stood trial in Sweden and actually gotten a proportionate punishment to his sexual misconduct, instead of being chased by the US
She was given her own medicine.
Milburn's political career started in Newcastle where, after leaving Lancaster university, he helped run a small radical bookshop called "Days of Hope" which was known locally as "Haze of Dope", for some reason (cough).
so that was how he first thought of the “private sector” helping out with healthcare! 😉😉🤣🤣🤣
Wasnt Jacqui Smith involved in the porn scandal where she was claiming expenses for dodgy films?
I like that ~ if you want a friend in politics get a dog ~ lol
This statement is attributable to Richard M Nixon when he was Eisenhower's VP
Labour mwy have won a stack of seats , however Smiths appt reveals how thin the takent pool is .
Stop the genocide 😢
The indigenous people of Britain?
@@FariyTalePurityAnalyser 🤔🤔
What genocide I don't see any in the UK do you
Did you read what Harmer was saying?
@@ProDemocracy01 Gaza is not a UK problem, not interested
The point here is regardless of there ability we now have three minsters that can’t be held to account by the House of Commons.
Which, considering the pool of MPs available, is surely a strategic choice.
as I have said, almost from day one, Starmer is Blair 2.0. the day Blair was head of labour, was they day I started voting Greens. have done so ever since.
😂😂😂 The Greens 😂😂😂😂
Non-elected appointments ... say it with me
Starmer picking Jacqui Smith new.higher education minister isn't much improvement on some greedy Tory ministers.
So it's a race to the bottom 🤔
Gosh thought she had disappeared ages ago

Thornberry vile
I wonder how Thornberry and the police are coping with all of the England flags. 😂
Cannot believe he's given her a job and one she can't even answer questions on in the commons because she's not allowed in because she's not elected. Silly decision. Shortsighted. Unbelievable. Spurious.
I disagreed with Timpson a couple of years ago when he said two thirds of inmates shouldn't be there. Over 40% were there for Rape or Violent acts, so who's the two thirds he was talking about ?
40% of prisoners are there for violent crimes?
@@powderandpaint14 In 2023 36,000 were in jail for Rape and Violence. Are they part of the 2 thirds ? Where do you draw the line.
Check your facts mate then come back and say sorry.
Terrorists come in all shapes , ages and sizes!
Eh? Is English your first language?
🙄
Troll alert
Labour (Blair) more than doubled the prison population last time they were in by introducing new laws that criminalised people unnecessarily. They also brought in private companies.
That is an outright lie. Grow up and get a grip. If I were you I would instruct an extremely good lawyer.
Guardian article dated 8 April 2010 refers. Calm down.@@norawright807
Wasn't Jaquie Smith implicated in the expenses scandal. Claiming the broom cupboard in her sisters house was her second home.
Another government Another failure in waiting.
Milburn set up the NHS Trusts, 214 of them.
The Top 10 executives across the trusts costs the NHS £607,000,000 each year.
Streeting is sponsored, like Milburn, by the private health industry. Value for money?
Offensive stickers can get you 2years.
A lot of the worst villains of the Blair era hanging about behind the scenes- most of whom should still be serving some pretty lengthy terms inside if they really were subject to the same laws as the rest of us! This is why I worry that Starmer’s lot won’t just be no better than the Tories- they may actually turn out to be worse.
Buttery biscuit bass got me 😂
Emily Thornberry has decided to change careers and is now working as a toolmaker in Newcastle!
So no to unelected members of government and any unelected bodies that cannot be voted out.
In both the corporate and political world the price of failure is success.
Clickbait image and title aside, I’m glad and hope it continues that Novara foregrounds things like the first two examples where there is incredibly good news under a Starmer gov.
Yes I’m further left, yes there’s deep bitterness regarding the last 5 years, but now Labour is in power let’s aggressively push and celebrate where there is real transformative change.
Yes, I think we should give them a chance.
Of course.
Starmer is a Blairite after all, his protestations to the contrary not withstanding.
Claimed to be a "socialist" during the election campaign, but actually shifted the party back to liberalism (or neoliberalism)
@@haomingongTory-Starmer and his Pseudo Labour Government
Ridiculous. Should be in prison.
If Labour don’t deliver, then other parties, like Reform, will be waiting in the wings.
Also not to deliver!
Employing experts in fields, instead of ideologically opposed goons.... Such a new concept....
Which experts are those? Most of the cabinet know nothing except how to keep their thoughts to themselves.
@@patriciamcl54 in that case you're Labour supporter now... welcome aboard
Are you joking?
@@basfinnis yes, i am Nadine
I don't think it's any different. Plenty of ideological goons in Starmer's government.
I’m all in favour of rehabilitation of offenders, but was totally shocked when I heard of the employment of ex offenders, especially when they fit batteries in mobile phones, where you leave your iPhone for 2 hours and they have all your data, bank accounts etc….and also ask for your PIN number !!!!!!
How about remembering 'ex'.?
Selecting rotten fruits to ser under his new government , a total nono ...
The key issue over the coming years will be loss of trust when things happen that we didn’t vote for. Obviously that is common Tory practice too but as Labour were so evasive in what they were trying to do, the comparison could creep in if they woolblind the public, especially with unpopular policies. Let’s see
Timpson cuts keys. Prisons have lots of keys… 😉 Aren’t we short of seasonal workers and fruit pickers. Can’t prisoners do some fruit picking?
Its not America, Using the prison population as slave labour is not acceptable practice.
Hermer is being set up to fail
When will 33% popular support for Labour turn into 20%. They've certainly hit the ground running towards achieving that, especially with the Elensky curse
Dam expensive key cutting. I go to my local mum and pap store.
This timpson guy is so it.. Believe me, this guy should have been our pm
Mr Timpson seems like a decent bloke but I've always thought teaching released burglars how to cut keys was a bit unwise. Shoe repair and watch repair - no issues.
Timpson, how much is a watch battery again.... £26
Are you sure this guy was a founder of Timpsons. Was it not his father.
More prisons is not the answer. Look at the USA ! Worst prison system in the world.
In the UK Money needs putting Back into prevention, interventions and rehabilitation of people before the person gets to the end stage of prison.
It's time the system was Updated as well as the Education system that also doesn't not work 😢
In the US, the infamous Kim Kardashian & her husband plagiarist/ "sampling" rapper ex-husband got into Prison Reform. The seemingly concern for unjustly incarcerated people was actually to get their grandmother out of prison. I wondered what kind of crime would a beloved cute gramma would be imprisoned?😮 Imagine if you had to visit your nana in the yard?😂
If it was his Grandmother, well unfortunately black people in the US can be incarcerated for very low level crimes.
Absolutely awful... The lot of them!
What is awful about Timpson?
Farage then?
@@Gabzerelli5 Farage is disliked by the establishment as he wants to stop their plan of turning the UK into a cheap Labour economy. He's not perfect but I trust what he says more than I trust the Tories or Labour and the Libdems.
@@Gabzerelli5 - Can't make up my mind, Globalist Starmer?
I remember the vile attacks on Edward Timpson (brother?) when he ran as a Tory candidate against Gwyneth Dunwoody's daughter. A couple of Labour public schoolboys dressed in tails and top hats and followed him around calling him a toff. Classy.
we're obsessed with class. It's tiresome.
VICTOMS also would like to keep their homes and read their children a book at night.
Did you really expect less corruption than the tories??
OMG they are wanting to build more houses and release prisoners God help us 😢.
Also raising pensions which are the lowest in Europe.
We have so many problems in the uk and starters main concern is Gaza
"Starmer" "Hermer" sounds like the Third Reich
Hermer is a very interesting appointment.
Starmer may last a term, but not a second term.
James Timpson sounds great, but what’s with the Harry Potter glasses? 😂
Making room for incarcerating wrong-think offenders?
Wheres the honesty in his government first we had Angela Rayner and now hes got Jacqui Smith back after she claimed £160,000 odd expenses that she wasnt entitled too.
Timpson is by far my favourite appointment of the cabinet.
i dont think this is really high praise for the labour party, but they have exceeded my expectations so far. i think i have just subconsciously assumed after my entire memory of british politics being under conservative rule that there was some weird thing in british politics stopping the government from getting anything done. no, the tories were actually just that incompetent.
Right? Like for the past 14 years I've been conditioned that every response to a government announcement etc is 'what fresh hell are they inflicting now??' so when a government minister announces something logical, compassionate, good it's like... oh...
Tories weren't incompetent, they just had one goal. that was to fleece us and protect the rich, everything else didn't matter.
We've had 14 years without a proper functioning government. We've heard more about personality over actual governance from the Tories, and the whole country has paid the price. I'm not expecting too much from Labour, but they're off to a pretty good start.
@isbestlizard It's pretty shocking how far we've fallen, and how subtly it's been inflicted on us.
They won't get anything significant done, I can promise you that.
Hermer and Timpson are the only appointees that interested me. The other appointments, especially the Blairite / Brown ones are ghastly. Glad Thornberry got binned, deserves it after her shameful behaviour these past few years.
Why is the border crossing into Egypt accessible via Gaza firmly shut to residents of Gaza.
honestly Baroness Morgan of Huyton would have made more sense to be Minister for Education in Starmer's cabinet after all she did run OFSTED.
Hermer and Timpson are both good appointments. I hope they are able to make a real difference.
How long before Mandelson is back?
We don’t send enough people to prison look at the system now you have a revolving sentencing policy because you have nowhere to put them your job is to put the public’s safety first
An old broom knows the corners.😅
Timpsons needs to stick to cleaning suits for free..... almost 2/3 shouldn't be in prison ? He has clearly never worked a landing.
Crime doesn't pay, ask j.smith it does
Nowt changes, sleaze, slime, look after chummies. Welcome to the latest POLITICIANS CLUB.
I shouldn’t be shocked but I am….. didn’t vote Labour this time and never will.
Promising start from Starmer with some of these appointments. Sounds like we’ll see real positive change in terms of Gaza and prisons policy.
Prisons make money… private corporations - serco make a lot of money …..
Ash is a pleasure to listen to. Really appreciate her clarity and keen mind.
Prison in the Community eh? 🤪😂🤣

Thornberry has proper mugged herself off…
James Timpson is impressive shame he’s not an MP
i elect my mp on the understanding their loyalty is to the area they represent , sure they toe the party line ,everyone in any workplace is expected to, but they must also speakup for those that elected themin the first place , even and esp even that goes against party lines ,
stamer mixture of blair and stalin
Stop slandering Stalin.
unlike blair, stalin led his country into a justifiable war, and ended up winning that war!
tbf, stalin helped win a war, whilst blair started a war on the basis of lies, helping to create isis in the process!
Starmer is probably the worst labour prime minister since the last one.
From out of woodwork they crawl!!!!
Talk about scraping a barrel!
The problem with Prisons is there isn`t enough guards.
Half of some prison areas are closed, because they can`t staff the arera`s.
Too many Lords based government appointments
