I remember one December when I was young I watched this on TV, it was very random it happened to be on, I was alone in the day, this show has stuck with me and reminds me of Xmas In my childhood.
The Nobility of this story brings tears to the eyes. Anyone who can read or listen to this story and not be moved in his soul to penitence and greater devotion to Virtue is not worthy of their soul. And any soul who does is only as worthy as their sincere thoughts, words and deeds under Gods Grace allows.
In my English class, we are discussing Enlish from this time period, and King Arthur is perfect for that. The teacher wants to show us a film of this story, and so this is what she is showing us. I am thanking you for her.
[SPOILER] A bit disappointed with how the movie handled the whole "stay at Bertilak's" chapter. They did my boy Gawain dirty........in more ways than one (eh heh heh). Plus they kind of just rushed through the whole "gift exchange" part.
Lessons of the virtues of nobility. "O Son of Spirit! Noble have I created thee, yet thou hast abased Thyself. Rise then unto that for which thou was created." “The essence of faith is fewness of words and abundance of deeds.”-Baha’u’llah, Hidden Words
True, but did you like how he failed nearly every challenge and was a completely miserable protagonist with no scruples and a prostitute girlfriend for some reason? Gawain is supposed to be flawed, not a complete degenerate.
@@uriahl2331 That I'm iffy about.I understand they were trying to put a "spin" on it while keeping the core messages from the original, but I'll admit I wish it more tightly followed the poem while keeping the gorgeous visuals and cinematography.
@@nervmeister that’s the main good I have to say about it. Looked beautiful, and notwithstanding Gawain himself, the cast was pretty damn good. Up until he leaves on the journey I was enjoying it.
The animation is something else, but the tale of the Green Knight is the best of the Arthurian legends. Sir Gawain genuinely thinks his time is up and think about how horrible that would be, just to uphold his honour. I personally love this tale. If you couldn't be bothered to read it, short as it is, then you be lazy my friend! ;)
In the romances Arthur will not eat at dinner unless he has seen a wonder, heard a tale of a noble deed, or something along those lines. this is probly his way of getting the knights to do something valiant.
1. What time of year does this story take place? 2. What are the conditions of the game that the Green Knight proposes? 3. Who first consents to take the Green Knight up on his offer of a game? 4. Who actually ends up participating in the game with the Green Knight? 5. How long will it be before the person who participates in the game will have to face the Green Knight?
where did this come from? was it a tv program?? is it on DVD I LOVE arthurian litrature. and I very much enjoy this story. Ive read Tolkien's translation of this poem. next to Malory's Le Morte D Arthur, Gawain and the Green Knight is probly the most populer english arthurian story.
1.Christmas 2. Gawain must strike once and receive one strike himself in a year and a day. 3. Arthur, King of Camelot 4. Gawain, Arthur's nephew 5. A year and a day
It's about honor, especially keeping one's word. Gawain is later tempted by tell the truth or lie, thereby withholding what he got in the castle from Lord Bertilak, though they had agreed otherwise. Gawain witholds, and pays a penalty with the Green Knight.

Mr. Calver showed us this in class. I have never been on LSD trip until that day.

eat a snickers
The Gnostic Truth Ah. Pretentious.
Sad thing is this is actually an interesting story, I just can't read the fucking old English poetry that they try to force us
ME TOO
Forced on you? What language would prefer?
The original is in middle English, and unless you study ancient languages, you'll be reading a translation.
The movie adaptation that just came out is pretty good
@@brettk.1398 😆😂😆😂😆
I kinda like this animation and music, looks oldschool
I'm watching this cause in 2h l have an exam on the reading xD and I'm too lazy to read the handout!

In my English class, we are discussing Enlish from this time period, and King Arthur is perfect for that. The teacher wants to show us a film of this story, and so this is what she is showing us. I am thanking you for her.
Here after A24’s The Green Knight 😁
Yup
[SPOILER]
A bit disappointed with how the movie handled the whole "stay at Bertilak's" chapter. They did my boy Gawain dirty........in more ways than one (eh heh heh). Plus they kind of just rushed through the whole "gift exchange" part.
The Green Knight sucked a lot.

I had to read this in British Lit a couple years ago and I enjoyed it. I'm watching this so I don't have to read it again for my Western Lit class.
I love the quality. It's very courtly!
good luck to everyone who is about to take this boring test
ps i failed it
Like that A24 movie made prominent use of the "pentangle" symbol like this one.

well this is quite helpful for my british literature course...
I have to read this for a college course. This is better for understanding this film of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
I had watched this video cause it was as an example in my notes of English Medieval Literature class for my uni and then I saw your username looool
i have seen it on vhs. its good though.
A very good and interesting adaptation.
Now everyone will come here due to the forthcoming summer movie - right?
Many thanks again. 🙃
That's it! I'll just be called a coward

2020 and watching this for our phone call Q and A. Such a lazy student to read the handouts.
If you imdb it, it came on in Ireland in 2002. TV. Makes sense too with a 25 min runtime. 5 mins for commercials.
my left ear enjoyed this video
Who made this??? It’s so interesting!! But also really really weird!

This is so much different than the original...
is that rupert everet's voice playing gawain?
How old is this?
Yo what up people from 2021🤟🏻
Ah, this is alright. I wish there was a more dramatic and emotional animation of it around with better production value :/

Sir Gawain the Gonad Giver...
... oh ill just ask it!!!
did this happen?
I know we're all here for English class but is this accurate to the actual story before I write this paper lol?
Great use of glass-stained animation.
The green knight is totes blazed....
why is the green knight stoned?
who here in 2020 :3
nope. he is the son of Morgause the halfsister to Arthur. Morgana is Gawain's aunt too.
Mr Capraro Gang
i thought of runescape the whole time.
All I thought when gawain "exchanges his present" with the guy later was "HA! GAAAAAYY"
+Terioth "HA SAAME"
For my report.. thank you
I don't get it who on earth would say yes to this challenge knowing that someone's gonna chop their head off in a year
They didn’t expect him to live after they cut his head off
English class :( I don't see the point in this. Grrrr
It's about honor, especially keeping one's word. Gawain is later tempted by tell the truth or lie, thereby withholding what he got in the castle from Lord Bertilak, though they had agreed otherwise. Gawain witholds, and pays a penalty with the Green Knight.
Hi Mrs. Barton's class!
So...Gawain was Arthur's nephew. That probably means he's one of Sir Cay's kids.
