Another Update: This got way more views than I expected, so please forgive the lack of professionalism. Also, I try to answer every question I can, but it’s a lot of keep up with and I’m extremely nervous with confrontation. I also have not used iArtbook in a while because I have moved to Procreate (which is sadly not free, but is a one time pay thing and really worth it). But anyway, if I don’t answer your question within a week, you can probably just safely assume I don’t know the answer. Update: I have discovered that you can add the smudge tool to your bar instead of the stupid color picker. Just go to the three dots in the corner, settings, basic, then scroll down and you'll see a thing you can enable that says, "Smudge tool in top panel." I'm just an idiot. Edit: Frequently asked questions (most are in the video, but I don't blame you for not wanting to listen to my voice): Q: How do I use the bucket tool? A: You drag the icon that opens the color wheel to the spot you want to color in. If it's not there, your app is probably glitching. Q: How do I undo and redo? A: The arrows on the menu. The one pointing left is undo and the one pointing right is redo. You can also undo by tapping with two fingers at once on the screen and redo with three fingers. Q: How can I add audio/video to animations? A: You can't atm. Animation is still fairly new though, so they may add a feature soon. Q: How do I draw straight lines/use a symmetry ruler? A: There is no symmetry ruler per se, like on Flipaclip, but you can't draw straight lines. It's just a bit more meticulous. Just go into the menu and tap on shapes, and draw a quick lil line. It'll correct it for you when you stop touching the screen. Then you can move it and resize it to the correct location and size with two fingers. Q: How do you add text? A: You cannot. Like I've said many times, iArtbook is great for many things, but it's not perfect

When you tap on the save thing, like when you save an image (it’s in the menu you get when you tap on the three dots in the corner), there should be an option to export a time lapse video. If the option isn’t enabled, you can’t save the speedpaint you’d have now, but you can set it up to record future speedpaints by tapping on the three dots, going to settings, basic, and then enabling the slider that says, “video recording.” Fair warning though, it can sometimes make the app really laggy when it’s enabled
It took me almost a year to figure out how to add the smudge tool to the bar, and then I found it by accident, so don't feel bad lol. Yes. For some reason the newish update made it rather finicky, but if you hold on them towards the left side, I believe, it should lift up and allow you to. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it to lift up.

you may of put it in the video, but i’m not done with it. do you know how to like where it won’t color over your line art? i couldn’t figure out how to do it.
Like drawing under the line art? You just make a new layer and then drag it under the line art layer. I like to duplicate the layer and then select the lower layer because then I can still use the bucket tool
HELLO PlEASe um is there any way you can show a a time lapse of you making the art on iArtbook because idk how to do it at all and I want to show my friends I actually did draw Claire and it was not fake
If it was turned on in your settings. I believe it automatically is when you first download it, but I could be wrong. To access it, tap on the three dots in the corner, then 'settings', then 'video' (at the bottom of the menu), and if the recording option is on, then you can tap 'export time lapse video.' If it's not on, then it didn't record and I'm afraid there's no way to get it
Yeah, unfortunately you can’t use the undo tool if you exit to the gallery. Procreate is the same way. You’re just gonna have to carefully fix by hand whatever you did (I have to do that all the time :’>)
Yes. It can copy everything in the layer you have selected, or just an area you've encircled with your selection tool. You tap on the three dots in the corner, scroll down to "copy/paste" and the copy and paste options will be in there
I think if you just make sure that the background's transparent on your canvas when you save it as a gif, it'll be transparent in the final version. Just make sure the background layer is hidden when you save it
I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I'll try to help. Curve just makes it so when you take your finger away from the screen, you can reposition the line you've made. Tbh I have no idea what the point of it is, since it still always looks wobbly for me. It may be best just to freehand the drawing and be as patient as you can. iArtbook is one of my favorite free apps, but it's not perfect
I haven’t personally found one yet, but I haven’t animated on this app as much as Procreate because when I tried, the dimensions got messed up. If there is one, I’m pretty sure it’s a fairly large number, but I could be wrong
Put the layers you want to merge next to each other. Select the one on top. Tap on the right side to open the menu. Scroll until you see 'merge with previous.' Repeat until you have merged all the layers you want to. There's also an option to merge all the layers, but make sure that you delete all the layers you have hidden/don't want in the finished picture, such as refs before you use that one.
If you tap on the three dots in the upper left-hand corner and look through the menu that pops ups, the 4th option from the bottom should be fx. If you tap on it without selecting anything, it will automatically select the whole layer, but if you use the select tool and select an area before using fx, it'll only show effects for that section. Make sure you hit apply when you have the effect you want because otherwise it'll undo it. That's happened to me a lot :'D
Oof I've never been able to make a RUclips banner. The proportions are confusing lol To export, you go to the three dots in the corner and tap on 'share.' The one labeled 'artwork' or something like that will save all the layers separately to your files, so don't use that one. Hopefully that's what you're asking. I have a knack for misunderstanding people
Sorry, I'm a but confused about what you mean? Do you mean changing the opacity? If so, if you tap on the right side of the layer, a menu will pop up, and then there's a slider at the top that'll change it. Sorry if I misunderstood you or anything!
I'm not sure because I don't do pixel art personally. You could try making a custom canvas and selecting a really low size, like 10 by 10 pixiels or smaller. It's a little harder to do than apps made for pixel art, but I think it's possible
If you open up the menu on the project, you will see a little thing towards the bottom that says ‘settings.’ Tap on that, then tap on ‘basic settings’ and there should be something that it will let you switch the option on. You should be able to export the video from the same place you export images. I must warn you that it can make the app lag pretty bad. You can also use a screen recorder on your device, but you’d also need an editing app to speed the videos up and stuff, plus that takes up a LOT more room on your device.
If you can, I haven't figured it out yet. I use an editing app called iMovie that doesn't add a watermark to add sounds to my animations. It's a little finicky to use though. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
Not that I've seen. You can open the layer menus by tapping on the right and left sides of the layers when you open the thing that shows all the layers (there's two layer menus) and look if you want to though
Like, blending them? There's a smudge tool. It looks like a little hand. If it's not in your side bar, you can fine the option by tapping on the three dots in the corner and finding the option in the menu it brings up. You can add it to your side bar by tapping on the three dots in the corner, scrolling down and tapping on 'settings' and then enabling the slider that says 'smudge tool in top panel'
That's the smoothing setting, go tap on the specific brush you use and it will show settings. Than navigate to smoothing and turn it all the way down or whatever amount you want.
I've never done it, but I've seen the option to do so. When you open the brush menu, you'll see a little cloud with an arrow. If you tap on that, you can import it from your files. If you have a texture in your camera roll, you can add that by going to tapping on the plus sign in the brush menu, opening the new brush, and then tapping on 'photo' under the section titled 'shape source.'
I gotchu. If you look to the menu on the side (or top, depending on what angle your phone's at), you'll see a couple of overlapping squares. That's the layer button
Unfortunately iArtbook isn't able to do that. I usually have to write it on another app, save it as a png, and then transfer it as an image onto my drawing
I don't think so. They still update the app a lot, so I have a feeling that they'll eventually add it. I generally try to draw half of what I need to be symmetrical, copy the layer, flip it, and then try to line it up. It's not perfect by any means, but it's better than nothing
I'm not sure. I've never used a mask. If you tap on the right side of a layer in the menu for them, there's an option that pops up that says, "create mask" but I'm not sure how to use it. Sorry that I couldn't be more help!
Question 1: Yes! You tap on the three dots on the side of the bar that shows the frames of the animation at the bottom, then tap on ‘settings.’ Then you should see a slider labeled: ‘frames per second’ that you can slide to change the speed. Question 2: I’m afraid not! I usually just use iMovie to add it in, but it doesn’t really help for syncing animations
Right next to the brush option at the top of the screen, there should be an eraser icon. A little rectangle looking thing. You can also change the brush type that tapping on it twice
I had to look this up because I never realize that my art could have looked cleaner (it's better now, but my older digital art), so I just assumed that everyone else had a steadier hand than me. Anyway, I can't see an easy way to enable it. There may be settings in the brushes themselves that you can edit. I'll reply again if I happen to stumble upon it
Yes there is! You tap on the brush and go to the calligraphy and then you just increase the correction. Or you can put rope stabilization on and change the delay.
I made this video a while ago, so I don't remember where exactly the spot in the video is. But to use the color picker, you hold down on the screen until the little circle shows up and then select the color you want on the screen. You can also use the little bullseye thing that will be on the side bar if you don't have the smudge tool there. (Also, if you meant just finding the color wheel, you just tap on the colored circle)
If you tap on the little side menu (the three dots in the corner) you can find a smudge tool, and then there are a bunch of different brushes for that that give you different blending styles
Unfortunately iArtbook doesn’t have that feature. I usually just add any text I need in a photo editor later. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than nothing ig. You can also save a plain transparent image with nothing on it, add it to a photo editor, add the next, then upload it back into iArtbook and do it that way if it’s any easier
I can't take credit for this, because I learned this from someone in the replies, but if you go to the brush settings, calligraphy, and then increase the stabilization, I believe you can? I haven't used this yet, so I can't outright say it works, but that's what I was told
Thank you wormdoescontent! I use procreate! All the time but it’s really hard to animate on because if you don’t know how to animate with layer on procreate you only have a single thing to draw on. Thanks for the tutorial! Have nice day Also sneaky sneaky (idk lol) you working on the map part. I agree editing is a pain
You should be able to tap on share, jpeg (or png), and then scroll down on the menu that slides up and tap, 'save to photos.' If that doesn't work, I'm not sure how to help
That could be a glitch. It will also do that if you try to use it over a weird texture, such as a place where you used the smudge tool, or used one of the special brushes (clouds, grass, rain, etc). If you're just using it on one flat color, no shading or anything, it's probably a glitch though.
@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 thank you for your help I watched your video and now I know more thanks I am so much better at using the app now thanks! I just had to redos load it then it worked
Tap on the three dots in the corner, tap on 'selection.' You just basically make it make a circle around what you're trying to select. It's a little wonky at first, but I got used to it fairly quickly, so I'm sure others will too
Same way that you'd save an image: Go to the three dots in the corner, hit 'share', then choose what format you want. I could be wrong, but I believe that mp4 is the average video. Sorry for taking so long to reply. I generally try to reply within 12 or so hours, but I'm on vacation right now so it's hard
You have to drag the little color icon that you'd tap on to access the color wheel onto where you want to use it. There isn't a color bucket icon for some reason. I actually thought that there wasn't one at all when I first started using it, and did a lot of my art without it lol. It took a very long time.
Select the layer you want to blur, and open the little menu with the three dots in the corner. Then go to 'Fx' (effects). Blur should automatically pop up. Make sure you hit apply on the menu or else it won't save. If you want the whole thing blurred, you have to either blur each layer individually, or merge them all :'D You can also choose to blur only one section by using the select tool and then selecting the area you want blurred before you use Fx. It tends to look a little funky though
Ha ha yeah. I made this a while ago, and since then have gotten a lot more confident at speaking, and a lot better at editing, but I do appreciate the feedback! Tbh I didn't put much work into this because I only expected it to get like 10 views and then uh... this happened lol
There are actually 2 ways to do this: The first is to tap on the left side of of the layer you want to duplicate and select 'duplicate.' The second is to swipe left on the layer you want to duplicate. You should see two options, one is a red garbage can, and the other is two white boxes. The white one is duplicate layer.
That'a kind of a big question that would take a a long time to explain everything. To get to the animation option, in the main menu, where you'd select the canvas, there'a options at the very top of the screen; 'painting,' 'animation,' and 'Replication.' If you tap on animation you'll be able to make a canvas for animation. If you tap on the layers at the bottom you can bring up menus to do things. If you tap on the layers menu, you'll see that there's options for 'top layers' and 'bottom layers.' Those work the same as a normal canvas and will stay the same throughout the animation. Bottom layers are for backgrounds and things behind the animation, and top layers are for things in front of the animation, like maybe grass in the foreground. Hopefully that's enough to get you started! I'm happy to answer any other questions!

Yes. For some reason the newish update made it rather finicky, but if you hold on them towards the left side, I believe, it should lift up and allow you to. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it to lift up.
hello i was just wondering how you liquify the colors😅
If you hold the colour thing then you can move it to where you want to colour
Do u read wing of fire cuz my friend does just worndering .. bc the dragons are rly good
Yeah! I think I used a few of my drawings of some of the WoF dragons in this. I've read all the books except for the winglets. I want to, I just don't like ebooks, which is mostly how they were released
you may of put it in the video, but i’m not done with it. do you know how to like where it won’t color over your line art? i couldn’t figure out how to do it.
To access it, tap on the three dots in the corner, then 'settings', then 'video' (at the bottom of the menu), and if the recording option is on, then you can tap 'export time lapse video.' If it's not on, then it didn't record and I'm afraid there's no way to get it
Hey i can’t undo a drawing after I exit my gallery idk how to fix it :(
Yeah, unfortunately you can’t use the undo tool if you exit to the gallery. Procreate is the same way. You’re just gonna have to carefully fix by hand whatever you did (I have to do that all the time :’>)
Is there a copy and paste option? I can’t draw the same thing twice so that would be rly useful but I couldn’t find it on my own
Yes. It can copy everything in the layer you have selected, or just an area you've encircled with your selection tool.
You tap on the three dots in the corner, scroll down to "copy/paste" and the copy and paste options will be in there
Hey how do I make a transparent gif like the background is transparent and I was SOOO confused about it so please help
I think if you just make sure that the background's transparent on your canvas when you save it as a gif, it'll be transparent in the final version. Just make sure the background layer is hidden when you save it
Hey! I just started on this app and when I draw it’s not like an actual drawing, when I draw curve, it does this weird thing. Help?
I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I'll try to help. Curve just makes it so when you take your finger away from the screen, you can reposition the line you've made. Tbh I have no idea what the point of it is, since it still always looks wobbly for me. It may be best just to freehand the drawing and be as patient as you can. iArtbook is one of my favorite free apps, but it's not perfect
Heeei! I was wondering if it has a maximum layer number/frames for animation like Procreate does? I can t find an answer on the web
I haven’t personally found one yet, but I haven’t animated on this app as much as Procreate because when I tried, the dimensions got messed up. If there is one, I’m pretty sure it’s a fairly large number, but I could be wrong
How to turn off the stabilization? I don't actually know how to use that effect so it's quite annoying
May I ask how to merge layers??
Put the layers you want to merge next to each other. Select the one on top. Tap on the right side to open the menu. Scroll until you see 'merge with previous.' Repeat until you have merged all the layers you want to.
There's also an option to merge all the layers, but make sure that you delete all the layers you have hidden/don't want in the finished picture, such as refs before you use that one.

Oh gosh, yes
I’m on iPad and like I can’t find the add layer button can someone tell me where it is
I'm on iPhone, so for me it's a plus sign in the corner of the layer menu when you open it. I imagine it's similar on iPad
@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 I already found out but is there any way I can mix to colours to make a new colour?
@@angelachan757 Not really perfectly. I've tried doing this by turning the opacity down to 50% on both colors, but it doesn't work very well.

Hi!
Um sorry but where can I find and use the fx effects?
If you tap on the three dots in the upper left-hand corner and look through the menu that pops ups, the 4th option from the bottom should be fx. If you tap on it without selecting anything, it will automatically select the whole layer, but if you use the select tool and select an area before using fx, it'll only show effects for that section. Make sure you hit apply when you have the effect you want because otherwise it'll undo it. That's happened to me a lot :'D
got a question how do i export i had made a youtube banner
Oof I've never been able to make a RUclips banner. The proportions are confusing lol
To export, you go to the three dots in the corner and tap on 'share.' The one labeled 'artwork' or something like that will save all the layers separately to your files, so don't use that one.
Hopefully that's what you're asking. I have a knack for misunderstanding people
I made a two banners they were pretty cool and easy. Thanks for the info I just need to learn to import my banner into yt
@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 does that export the whole photo
Yes. Both jpg and png export whatever's on screen
How can I make the background layer transparent in the Iartbook? Please tell me how to save transparently when saving.
You have to hide the background layer by pressing on the icon on the left of the background layer section. Then you have to tap 'PNG' when saving it
How do you make the layer transparent
Sorry, I'm a but confused about what you mean? Do you mean changing the opacity?
If so, if you tap on the right side of the layer, a menu will pop up, and then there's a slider at the top that'll change it. Sorry if I misunderstood you or anything!
Sorry for asking, how do you do pixel art here? I always make a pixel-y art since it's easy, but I can't find a pixel brush ^^'
I'm not sure because I don't do pixel art personally. You could try making a custom canvas and selecting a really low size, like 10 by 10 pixiels or smaller. It's a little harder to do than apps made for pixel art, but I think it's possible
@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 I watched a procreate tutorial and got it figured out eventually! Thank you anyways :p
@@idontexisttt_how do you do it?
hey uh , i just wanna ask that , how do u make a file in iartbook?
Drag one of them to the other it will automatically make it an album
Hey,I wanted to know how to record your process on the app.

I’m doing an animation and I want to know how to get a sound in the animation
If you can, I haven't figured it out yet. I use an editing app called iMovie that doesn't add a watermark to add sounds to my animations. It's a little finicky to use though. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 oh okay, thank you for the information!
Hi I know I’m late but is there a way to set a layer as a reference layer?
Not that I've seen. You can open the layer menus by tapping on the right and left sides of the layers when you open the thing that shows all the layers (there's two layer menus) and look if you want to though
@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 all right thank you! :D
Is it possible to download types of pen textures?
I'm not super sure, because I haven't really tried to do that, but I know that if you save some to your files, you can upload them onto iArtbook
Hi! Can i know if there are any tools for blurring between colors?? Thanks for your vid!
Thanks for your infos i love your videos
Anyone know how to get rid of the thing that bends everything when drawing
That's the smoothing setting, go tap on the specific brush you use and it will show settings. Than navigate to smoothing and turn it all the way down or whatever amount you want.
Do u kno how to import brushes?? Idk what kind file to import 😭
Is there text on the app because I can’t really find it if there is
I don't believe so
Ok, I know this might sound dumb but I literally don't know what button to push to use layers pls help
I gotchu. If you look to the menu on the side (or top, depending on what angle your phone's at), you'll see a couple of overlapping squares. That's the layer button
Hi, can i ask if you can move the layers so that I can draw under line??? Or is there another way???
You can move layers by holding down on one and then dragging it. I apologize if that's not what you mean. I easily misunderstand things
@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 oh sorry I meant on how to color, cause whenever I do, it just covers the drawing

Ok, I figured out how to make layers and what not but I can't draw once I make them, only erase help?'
Make sure that you select the brush tool and that it's not the same color as the background
is there symmetry?
I don't think so. They still update the app a lot, so I have a feeling that they'll eventually add it. I generally try to draw half of what I need to be symmetrical, copy the layer, flip it, and then try to line it up. It's not perfect by any means, but it's better than nothing
Hi if you know, is there a way to do a clipping mask?
I'm not sure. I've never used a mask. If you tap on the right side of a layer in the menu for them, there's an option that pops up that says, "create mask" but I'm not sure how to use it. Sorry that I couldn't be more help!
I have two questions, can you change the frame speed in animations? And can you insert audios into your animations?
Question 1: Yes! You tap on the three dots on the side of the bar that shows the frames of the animation at the bottom, then tap on ‘settings.’ Then you should see a slider labeled: ‘frames per second’ that you can slide to change the speed.
Question 2: I’m afraid not! I usually just use iMovie to add it in, but it doesn’t really help for syncing animations
@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 oh okay, thanks for the help^^
How
to use an eraser?
Right next to the brush option at the top of the screen, there should be an eraser icon. A little rectangle looking thing. You can also change the brush type that tapping on it twice
What brush do you use to do outlines??
I'm kind of basic, so I just use the default one in ink. It's okay. I can't really find a better one

No, I usually just important an image and try to put it as far off to the side as I can when I use a reference. iArtbook's good, but it isn't perfect
hey! is there stabilization?
I had to look this up because I never realize that my art could have looked cleaner (it's better now, but my older digital art), so I just assumed that everyone else had a steadier hand than me.
Anyway, I can't see an easy way to enable it. There may be settings in the brushes themselves that you can edit. I'll reply again if I happen to stumble upon it
Yes there is! You tap on the brush and go to the calligraphy and then you just increase the correction. Or you can put rope stabilization on and change the delay.
Pls can u tell me how to choose a colour for colouring
Pls it would be a great help
U can tell me the timestamp of the part in this video also
I made this video a while ago, so I don't remember where exactly the spot in the video is.
But to use the color picker, you hold down on the screen until the little circle shows up and then select the color you want on the screen. You can also use the little bullseye thing that will be on the side bar if you don't have the smudge tool there.
(Also, if you meant just finding the color wheel, you just tap on the colored circle)
@@guardiantheantisocialdrago3123 ok thank u sooo much
Hey! How can i blend the colours?
If you tap on the little side menu (the three dots in the corner) you can find a smudge tool, and then there are a bunch of different brushes for that that give you different blending styles
How do you write I feel so dumb I can’t write
Unfortunately iArtbook doesn’t have that feature. I usually just add any text I need in a photo editor later. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than nothing ig.
You can also save a plain transparent image with nothing on it, add it to a photo editor, add the next, then upload it back into iArtbook and do it that way if it’s any easier
Is there a streamline or stability option?
I can't take credit for this, because I learned this from someone in the replies, but if you go to the brush settings, calligraphy, and then increase the stabilization, I believe you can? I haven't used this yet, so I can't outright say it works, but that's what I was told

That could be a glitch. It will also do that if you try to use it over a weird texture, such as a place where you used the smudge tool, or used one of the special brushes (clouds, grass, rain, etc). If you're just using it on one flat color, no shading or anything, it's probably a glitch though.

There are actually 2 ways to do this:
The first is to tap on the left side of of the layer you want to duplicate and select 'duplicate.'
The second is to swipe left on the layer you want to duplicate. You should see two options, one is a red garbage can, and the other is two white boxes. The white one is duplicate layer.

Not that I have found
How can you animate on iArtbook?
