    I don’t mind paying more for the Great Fresh Quality Food and the Great Ambience, the cleanliness and the great fresh selection!
    All Great Restaurants and Location selections, Luke!
    Thanks very much, I feel happy that you are taking little bit of advice on board.
    Take good care, enjoy yourselves and thanks for adding a bit of authentic Hong Kong local culture touch in between. Chrissie xx

    Sai Kung is super pricey because the target customers are all tourists who can afford the inflated seafood price. Delicious and wide selection, but you pay for it. If you want the same thing, look up eateries located inside wet markets in Kowloon side of Hong Kong, same selection but half the price. Dirtier and grungier though, only locals go. Tourists would be scared.

      I don’t think so. Sometimes places are dirty but not the food. If many people eating there especially you already said there is a markets not restaurants dirty can’t avoid right . But I can say the foods are amazing in Kowloon side also.

      The dingier and dirtier the market the better the food. While I would pay the inflated price for convenience because I can I would definitely hit as many night markets as possible too. Because hell yes.

    In fact, those seafood can be eaten in Taiwan, and the price is cheaper!

Great seafood on Lantau island as well, at very affordable prices. I avoided Tourist places like Jumbo. Did eat numerous times at The Peak - 6 to 8 different cuisines in one resto. Plus great photo opps. Cheers from Port Credit ON.

    HKD 971 for the seafood. That's a bit expensive. But that is a tourist location and that is a famous tourist restaurant, and that is tourist price. Locals would go the urban restaurants and pay about $500 for that. In this location, I would walk further into that street where several smaller restaurants there can serve the foods with lower price.

    welcome back to hk Luke.
    it's well-known that eating seafood in saigon should pay a premium. even for locals. but tourists would be higher. you may simply find a chinese restaurant which has their own tanks for seafood. their seafood dishes only cost probably half price with same quality. no need to go to saigon.

What great food I would walk along see something that looked good to eat, sit at a little table and chair that was provided and chow down. I ate at those little spots for 9 days never got sick once. Great food YUMMY.😋😁😀

      Nope, Hong Kong is one of the worst value food cities in the world imo. You pay a premium there for average quality.
      If you just stick to street food and research some cheap places you can still have fun at a reasonable price, but overall the value is not there
      And you basically need to rinse your own cups, plates utensils before eating - that's what the locals do

  • @3Axel1996
    @3Axel1996 Год назад

    Dishes are washed but it's almost traditional to rinse your dish, cups, and chopsticks in a bowl of hot water or tea. Most HKers enjoy drinking hot tea or just plain hot water. It may come from the days when HK imported, desalinated, and treated its water supplies. Visited as a kid back in the 70s and 80s, so water from the tap had to be boiled before consumption, and there was no such thing as ice at restaurants. Oranges has always been a traditional complimentary dessert at restaurants. Much like fortune cookies are given out these days at Chinese restaurants in the US. Many don't have washing machines and dryers in their homes due to costs and taking up precious space. That's why many hang their clothes where ever they can. Even in Japan, washing machines are available in many homes but no dryers. You have the warm sun, why not use it?
