This is unbelievably simple, and your video explanations are great. You do a great job of demonstrating how to put together a nice little pond and fountain feature, without over complicating any of the process. Nicely done!
Lady Lisa, You are so spot on with all this that You are the best. I have 2 ponds and run a number of pumps with a w,fall and UV filters all is clear and with goldfish but I like to connect them to make it all as one. You have done all this so well so You need to come to Australia and give me Your approval. Fine hobby and makes You to stay home and be happy which I do well. I wish I was half as organised as You! Richard
I have the same two exact tanks that I got for my 14 inch red slider that we adopted. I was trying to figure out how to turn it into an adequate good home for her. I knew I could somehow do it but wasn't quite sure. Going to use your method but instead of a waterfall it's actually going to be a water traveling area for her to go back and forth between the two tanks. Give her plenty of room to have a good life. Your video is the best one I've seen yet on RUclips. It was explained well, you have great common sense, and it was budgeted well. Great job. Your yard is beautiful.
Lady oh Lady! This is up there with the very best and so clear an well done, a man could not come close! I did and had the pond lifting 2x! It had no outlet! Now I got it all fixed and found some small leaks years after. I am too old but like to work on it and know You are so much better than me! If I could make a video I would like You to have it but than I am not as good as yet. You are so much organised and all is loud and clear! Be proud, Australia is!
Lady You are so good and better than me in Australia. You are hooked on this hobby and better than what I have build in the front and backyard. You explained it so well but did not mention a UV light. I have it in every pond and the water and fish are fine. I look up to You and did it all myself but of course it was addictiv work but the result is permanent I just wish I could make a video and send it to the world. You are first!
Your homemade pond is gorgeous! Cute lil frogs and all. You look so peaceful and content chilling on your back porch swing. The labor and construction you guys have put into the pond, to me, is almost unimaginable. Great job! 100s across the board!
Just like me. I'm an honest hardworking man, I have a coworker that always talks smack about me. Idc, because I know he's a pathetic loser. And I am excercising and working out every 4 to 5 days a week.
Maybe it's her weird pronunciation of the word algae, lol. Both the American and European pronunciations use a LONG E sound at the end with a silent A. Her pronunciation of algae is a language of its own, lol.
I am putting in a raised rigid preformed pond. Since my ground is so rocky, I figured this was the best way to go and since doing some digging, my handyman dug down to part of the septic tank! So that's where the pond is resting. I used the exact pavers you used, down to the red color, and my pond is also resting on one side of the deck, and a wooden walkway on the other side. I am not going to put in fish, so hopefully my 80 gallon size will suffice in drawing frogs & toads, as they will have those pavers as access steps and I am putting in water plants also with a pump & fountain & frog spitter. Your video gave hope that they will find their way to the raised pond, and I was glad to see the little toad sitting on the rim of your pond. Thanks for the great ideas!
Lovey Lynn The frogs will find your pond because the sound of water from the splitter will attract them. Watch for them (or just listen) the first hard rain in late spring as soon as it is warm. Also, if you will have no fish, don't forget mosquito dunk. It has never harmed our toads or tadpoles. Enjoy!
Ps... the toads will eventually take up residence between your pavers. They love living near the water. At the moment we have hundreds of baby frogs hopping around our yard. We have to walk slowly and watch where we step to avoid stepping on any!
Thanks for your reply Lisa... I live in the Rochester New York area.. I know it's a little late in the season, August 4th, but do you think I may still attract some frogs/toads? I do have some little toadletts running around - I always try to relocate them around to where they will be safe, but unfortunately, do have garter snakes in the area. Have you ever had predators bother your pond at all? My fear is the garters - as they like water AND frogs/toads :( I guess only time will tell. I love your upgrade to a 300 gallon - what a great idea. I do intend to have a pond filter & 2 water features, but adding mosquito dunk won't hurt.
Lovey Lynn I live in southeast TX near HOU. I was going to tell you it's too late for frogs to lay eggs, but then we had a week with a steady but short downpour each day. By the 3rd or 4th day the frogs were out and left another million eggs (or so it seems when they first hatch into tadpoles). Yes, we have had a snake visitor that took a toll on our frog population. We used something I believe was called Snake be Gone. It was granules that I sprinkled sparingly within the pavers and around the perimeter of the pond and yard. Haven't spotted it since. My only effort to help the toads is to provide as much hiding spots as possible by grooming shrubs only at the top and leaving the foliage dense at the ground.
Lisa J - Just spotted my first garter snake lurking around the pavers!! I chased it away with the hose. I did put in some minnows & small feeder goldfish in the pond - I guess the stinking snakes would get them if they could :( I just ordered some snake be gone, too!
I just love this set-up and sent the video to my husband and told him this is the one I want to build next Spring. I think we will put our baby turtles in the top part (so they don't eat the fish!), and the goldfish in the bottom. I have been able to over-winter my water plants by cutting them back and placing them on the bottom of the small pond we have now. The water lily has produced so many flowers this year! Would love to see if you have done any updates. Thanks for the great video.
One of the finest comments! I have 3 Ponds and stay home a lot, driving is not so much fun anymore. A fine hobby to make home the place to spend time, no problems!
We just had to get one of these 300 gallon stock tanks to replace our below ground pond that had a liner (leaked, hard to keep clean) we are looking forward to doing a setup similar to yours. The information you gave will be very helpful to get our project completed. Thanks for sharing!
Such a well thought out video. I love the walk through and your pond is beautiful. Would love a huge pond but the city doesn't allow much space for a large pond. Thanks for sharing!
Great pond build. I only have one comment: a U.V. sterilizer only controls free flowing algae. What the U.V. sterilizer is good for is killing harmful bacteria and protozoa. The U.V. sterilizer will not do anything for the hair or clump algae that grows on everything. To control that the plants you have will eat the nutrients the algae would need, limiting the algae growth. Also shading the pond with plants or whatever reduces the light the algae needs to grow.
I Also have a 300 gallon stock buried... 4 years later it CRACKED!!!!! I was devastated when I looked outside and saw only 6 inches of water left! Ordered a RUBBER 20 year warranty pond liner for it and now all is good ...
Absolutely love the project the only thing I would change is getting rid of the filter and turning your waterfall feature into a natural filter it's what I use on my pond water is crystal clear. I have basically what you have but my pond is not a stock tank
Great video and awesome instruction. Thank you! BTW, any advice on how to control hugs, especially mosquitoes? We have a tiny pond in our backyard and plan to upgrade to 300 gal but hesitate because of the bugs.
Know what you mean I get so many tadpoles that they clean the liner right down to the it being black again .That is the only good part of them .They clean everything .I live in the country and there are 2 major streams across the road from my house
wichid cichlid. That's a Rubbermaid 300 stock tank. Very cheap at Blain' farm and Fleet in Wisc. Great tank has reinforcing so it won't crack and UV protection. www.farmandfleet.com/products/989796-rubbermaid-commercial-products-stock-tank.html
use sand layer at the bottom of the tank and dig hole wider than tank that way you will achieve level...after 1/3 water is installed in tank backfill hole for side of tank with sand and keep level
Why did you not just buy a liner as the fish will outgrow this also .I have an almost 5000 galoon pond and started with a preformed pond and went bigger each time I rebuilt .I used a 45 mill liner .I also have a 300 gallon stock tank and 2 100 gallon stock tank for plants and for baby fish I give away every year.use sump pump hose it ios much cheaper .I have been using it for years now .I use a bio filter but I know that those pressure filters need protected in the winter and from water hitting the outside .pl roofing goop would work
We live in the city. This is as big as our space will allow. The only time we have to be cautious with the pressure filter we used is in the spring when we get tadpoles by the thousands. We remove the filters so the tadpoles don't get trapped in them.
I have the same problems with tadpoles .In heat you need tall to keep the water cooler .Since you don't have room i guess you did what you can with your space .But at least you are enjoying your ponds and that is all that matters .:)
+Lisa M next time u have to stick plastic together like that u can just weld it together using some spare plastic of the same color and a heat source like a soldering iron.they actually make plastic welding kits you can buy online ..they use them to weld broken atv fenders back together. check it out ! cheers
Yes, I'm sure Canadian winters are much colder than Texas winters. However, with the smaller pond, one winter we had a 1" layer of ice for several days. We turned off the pumps before the freeze, and I went out several times a day and hammered a hole through the ice. Not sure if that was necessary, but living in south Texas doesn't give much opportunity to learn these things. Most important, all our goldfish survived.

Terrific video--simple directions and the final materials list is very helpful.
Amazing documentation! Looks wonderful! I enjoyed the video a lot!

Omg how can anyone dislike this video? Lol! Such a well done video!! Straight forward and informative. Love it thanks for posting!!❤️
AquaStar yeah I was wondering why all the dislikes?
Because they're a special kind of stupid. Untalented losers tend to hate like that, and the funny part is I bet the even copied her idea🤣

Thank you for the pro tip on the Marine 3M adhesive sealer
Such a well thought out video. I love the walk through and your pond is beautiful. Would love a huge pond but the city doesn't allow much space for a large pond. Thanks for sharing!
THAT DUST PAN IDEA WAS INGENIOUS
great informational video. Nice set up and plumbing.

One of the best how-to videos I've seen on youtube - very inspiring build! How do the frogs/toads get in and out of the large pond?
I Also have a 300 gallon stock buried... 4 years later it CRACKED!!!!! I was devastated when I looked outside and saw only 6 inches of water left! Ordered a RUBBER 20 year warranty pond liner for it and now all is good ...
What zone are you located in?
Good job on the video and your pond..
I loved this informative video. I wish she would do more.
Well done. Lovely pond . Good info. Thanks!
Excellent! Very detailed.
Absolutely love the project the only thing I would change is getting rid of the filter and turning your waterfall feature into a natural filter it's what I use on my pond water is crystal clear. I have basically what you have but my pond is not a stock tank
Seven years old. Are you still enjoying this pond? Still swinging on that porch?
Nice job! Just wondering do you have to cover the stock tank with anything to keep animals or birds out, wasn't sure if they try to eat the fish?
Great job and great idea on the dustpan...😀.... only thing it would have looked better would have been to sink them further in the ground😉
Great video and awesome instruction. Thank you! BTW, any advice on how to control hugs, especially mosquitoes? We have a tiny pond in our backyard and plan to upgrade to 300 gal but hesitate because of the bugs.
if the water is flowing/water moving, you should be fine
this is the best tutorial so far
the home every goldfish deserves
Love the pond and such a detailed video well done! P.S. Those look like toads to me, how about an update?
Love your video. Really helpful! Thank you!
Great video. Straiting to the point.
How do you grow water lilies with goldfish? Mine eat my plants
Detailed. And amazing pond. wish I have one. But I'll keep oscars instead. Nice vid.
Does it freeze? I live in the Midwest and it's cold here on winter
Love this - I too have a stocktand that needs to stop leak-you mentioned 3m marine adhesive- how did it turn out did it work
What the brand, size & capacity of the filter you used?...
Fantastic vid
A very informative video, thanks! How much did y’all spend on this?
Thank you for explaining just right with what you used so many talk for an hour just talking about the tank YAWNNNN
In what part of the world do you pronounce algea like that?
I am a beginner. learned a lot here :)
this is so beautiful, i want one just like this, already have the 100 gal water stock tank but I have a question what kind of pump did you use?
The pump we use is a SolidFlo 1200 purchased at thepondguy.com. The AllClear 2400 filter was purchased at the same site. Enjoy!
Thank you for answering, definitively this is going to be my next project.
Great detailed video
Very informative! THanks so much!
Hate to be that guy but: Bulk Reef Supply tested 45 vs 90 degree fittings and found they more or less don’t reduce water flow.
Great video!
Wow, well done.👍
all u have to do is fills up the filter stock tank with lava rock there u go now u will have super clear water forever never have to clean either :)
Hello, what size fitting is on the drain plug?
do you live in a freezing area, and if so what do you do in the winter?
Know what you mean I get so many tadpoles that they clean the liner right down to the it being black again .That is the only good part of them .They clean everything .I live in the country and there are 2 major streams across the road from my house
Good commentary! Have used stock tanks also.
This was an excellent video... just one thing. I never realized Algae is pronounced ALJA.
do you want the frogs in the pond or are they invading the pond?
how much did you pay, for the 300 glln stock tank? if you don't mind me asking?
My best recollection is somewhere between $300 and $600.
wichid cichlid. That's a Rubbermaid 300 stock tank. Very cheap at Blain' farm and Fleet in Wisc. Great tank has reinforcing so it won't crack and UV protection.

Awesome! Im about to set my stock tank up
It wont last 2 strong winters, ice will crack the tank when above ground. unless you have a mild climat.
use sand layer at the bottom of the tank and dig hole wider than tank that way you will achieve level...after 1/3 water is installed in tank backfill hole for side of tank with sand and keep level
Wow that's a lot of work.
in all my life, I have never heard anyone say "Al-juh"...
Great job
how many fish are in the pond
Very nice
beautifully done!!!!
WONDERFUL!!!

Good work here.
did you remove the supply list?
Excellent
That's great if you live somewhere if you don't ilve in candida
walt russell I have a 1000ish gallon pond in my yard and I live in Canada. You just have to bring the fish in in the wintertime

pond goals😭♥️
i have questions.. .
That's nice
Subbed and Liked =D
How do you keep out the mosquitoes?
NICE!!!!!
Im so confused here. I suck at building things.
That is cooooollll...
That would have been cool if you buried it so it would be in ground!
Do not get expanding foam close to a fish tank!
job well done
amazing
Will it work for turtles?
Edit: btw It’s my birthday
Sister soldier it's a great video, but you need to slow your role a bit. You know what you did but everyone else need to digest what's going on lol

Never heard algae pronounced "al jah" before.
I hate the way she says Algae
