I love how you guys just throw-up you blind and wait for the deer. I would sit by the trees and use them as my blind. Or climb a tree and be a little above the deer. Buy more gear!!! Listen to what your past hunters told you about deer hunting. I hunted Guinn area with a 270 Winchester. Totally overkill. Would do it today with a 30-30. Sit in a blind and wait. Takes about two days. You get your deer. New deer gun is my Dad's old rifle. Was rebarreled in the 50s. Original FN Mauser 1903 in 6.5. Rebarreled to 300 Savage. Got a kick. But accurate weapon. Even after being rebarreled in the 50s, and sitting until 2019. Used original 300 Savage ammunition from the 60s in it. 1.5 in. with iron sights at 100 meters. God-awful rear peep with military diamond front sight. Not what I would use for a hunt, but HE used it to kill deer in WVA. 300 Savage is basically a revamped 308.

Never had any luck rifle hunting, But I got two nice does with pick up trucks. Used an 87 Ranger and a 2000 S-10.
