Dear Doris, love your shop and the videos! Please keep more coming, update as often as you can :)
Just a minor suggestion: the microphone volume is a bit too low, I have to tune up to 100% to hear everything you say. Maybe double check the sound for future videos? Many thanks!

Oh my god, Doris, that show-off dress! What a SCORE! I can’t wait to see what you find out about it! And the Courrèges pieces... the tailoring. It’s so precise! I think the first of the two pieces has the same “generation” of tags as a dress I had, and I was told by a collector that it was from 1969. Such an amazing designer. All three of them! Thanks again for sharing! ❤️

I think I found which movie the last dress was in. Ruth Hussey wears it during a wedding scene in "H. M. Pulham, Esq" from 1941. Robert Kalloch was the costume designer. I happened upon a vintage Pierre Cardin leather jacket. It’s very well worn so likely has little monetary value, but I can just tell it’s exquisitely made. The size limitation of leather pattern pieces was used to its advantage and the geometry is to die for. Thank you as always for sharing!

What an incredible gift you were given!! How in the world would one possibly drape heavy slipper satin right at the hips & not make the wearer look (I'll be nice) very pear shaped? I guess that's why I'm not a designer.
One of your wonderful viewers located the movie in which it appeared. It's H..M. Pulham, Esq. It was released in 1941 & starred Hedy Lamar and Robert Young. Directed by King Vidor. If I find a filmography that lists the designer, I will come back & edit to include it. The gowns for the film were designed by Robert Kalloch.
You have an incredibly generous friend! I would love to see you interview her!I

I really like Victorian fashions, especially CF Worth. Could you do a show someday on the influence that he had and still has over fashion today and how he has inspired some designers and their modern take on his ideas? I would really be interested in hearing what you have to say!

I just discovered your channel and am delighted with the find. It's great when you place the garment in history. Truly you are preserving history, art, craftsmanship or craftswomanship. I love fashion but first of all I am a seamstress; therefore please show more of the inner construction of your garments. Like people, the real beauty is on the inside. A well crafted crafted garment is as well done on the inside as the outside. Who wants to pay big dollars for a dress and see hanging threads and ugliness as they slide it on? More time showing the labels too please. But anyway what a lucky gal you are to have found your niche. More please!

Waldorf Olsen youvare so sweet to write and believe it or not- we figured it out a little while ago. It was designed by Robert Kalloch- a Hollywood costume designer with little name recognition. It if you IMDb.com his name- OMG! See excerpt below and many thanks!
Bespectacled, academic-looking costume designer, who did his best work during the heyday of Columbia screwball comedy (1932-40). Particularly memorable and evocative examples of his creative flair are Claudette Colbert's outfits for It Happened One Night (1934), Irene Dunne's in The Awful Truth (1937); and Rosalind Russell's for His Girl Friday (1940). Kalloch began his career as a designer of high fashion gowns for royalty, the social elite and revue stars, working for leading British couturiere (and 'Titanic' survivor), 'Lucile', aka 'Lady Duff-Gordon' (1863-1935).
At the height of his international fame, Columbia boss Harry Cohn brought Kalloch to Hollywood as his number one dress designer, in order to elevate the status of his company vis-a-vis the 'big five' studios. Kalloch served briefly at MGM (1941-43), then freelanced and died relatively early, aged just 54. Kalloch was known as an extremely timid personality, whose many phobias included being in an upright position, while riding in the back seat of a motorcar.
