The DBZ reminds me soooo much of the AB XR, the layout is very close, the basket is shaped about the same just different spokes, the surround is very similar and the motor is a very similar diameter double stack, oddly enough the 15" XR has a flat bottom plate/t yoke whatever but oddly enough the 12 has a bumped plate, the coil is . 25 smaller tho the XR has a 3". The XR is AB's SQL sub and they do sound killer and again oddly enough the XR is fairly stiff which is not common with an SQ sub. But XRs are great subs very slept on, they will pound out some thump and are tough, you have to clip the hell out of em to get em stinky, myself I had 2 xr15s on a cab45 and never smelled em but every other sub I've had has even my custom 400oz 15s. So I'm guessing the DBZ's slightly smaller coil won't make much difference and they should be a pretty good sub

Great video as always! It would be fun if you did a test sweep and checked the peak frequency, as well as what the subs score on the peak/test frequencies.
It would also be fun if you made a decent-sized custom test box tuned to around 34Hz, with a 15-inch cutout and an adapter plate for 12" / 10" and so on for even better results!
just an idea from a guy who enjoys your videos!

Love your channel! No one tests subs the way you do, and it's always and honest review. You've been testing all the newest super subs, but what about the og brands, you've done Orion, kicker, what about earthquake mid level sub boasting a 4" xmax with turbine cooling and patented Lava-fused Quad Helix Voice Coil the 15" subzero. Specifications
    Woofer Size: 15″
    Max Power: 2500W
    RMS Power: 1250W
Mechanical Xmax = 4″ peak to peak
Electrical Xmax = 2″ peak to peak
Or if you can the earthquake super subs the holees, pronounced hole E sh... Boasting 7000rms
The reason I'm so interested in these 2 subs is, no one has changed the subwoofer since the dvc came out 20 years ago. Copper or aluminum, one coil over the other, nothing special, orion, kicker to d4s, and deaf bonce it's just the same thing with different cones from paper to carbon fiber composite, stacking spider on spider to make it as stiff as possible. the earthquake are different. To start the cone floats easily with the touch of a finger the cone floats up and down easily, very soft suspension dispite a 4 layer nomex spider, with a 4" throw!!! But it's the changed they made to the voice coil that really makes it special instead of wrapping one coil, then the next on top of the first like every single other sub out there, (you've reconed enough subs to know the coil so generic with its wrapping you can't tell the difference from one top of the line subs voicecoil to the next to the Chinese knock off of the same spec, and if the sub has a 3" xmax they coil only has 2.5" tall coil height up the former, so it gets " sloppy" at its peak cuz it loses it electromagnetic field, or they bottom out and the coil hits the magnet, or both) the holees are very different, instead of pumping out another Chinese sub with the appropriate name skar, sundown... Or " handmaking" their subs in house in the USA for quality but not really innovating, the 2020 sundown top of the line isn't much different than the 2024, and like this video points out d4s is just another sundown sub with extra mechanical noise. Earthquake subs have a 4" xmax so they wound the coil to a full 4" height to keep the coil in the magnetic field through the entire stroke, then they made a new type of glue to hold the coil down (most use a epoxy type that heats up and smokes before the coil melts causing the coil to unwind off the former, slinky and short) earthquake uses a lava based patented adhesive made to with stand the temp the coil can get up to, inspired by a engineer taking a Hawaii vacation and seeing an active volcano. Only a few companies still use round wire to wrap their voice coil, because it so ineffective leaving gaps that the glue just fills, now most use square wire so each coil fits in nice and tight, earthquake uses a flat wire wound on edge to keep the layers down effectively letting the aluminum former to act as heat sink for the entire coil (even the best subs use multi layer square wire, first layer gets cooled by the former, and then the next 6 layers heating up and radiating more heat to the next till the 8th layer that's getting air cooled as it moves up and down in the gap) qaurthquake flat wire on end cools all layers by air on the outer layer and aluminum on the inner but still allows enough wire to give it the 4ohm resistance, but how does it do this with a dual voice coil? As far as I know every coil I e seen that is dvc is coil 1 inside wound coil 2 wound around the first, ever wonder by you don't blow both coils on a dvc unless your just pushing excess power into it, it's cuz the 2nd coil is t getting nearly the cooling the first is. Again earthquake did this different their coil it's " voice coil comprises four (Quad) edge wound oxygen-free copper wire layers." Called " The Helix design is unique because it allows identical electromagnetic coupling and thermal signatures of two voice coils." " the two coils are wound synchronously in phase." In a helix design like our DNA wound around each other around the former. Read the product description.
The sub zero was the first of their innovating and the. They used everything they learned making those and innovating even more to make the holees. There is no sub on the market or in production that has as many innovative improvements as the earthquake holees 15.
I'm in no way connected with earthquake except my Amazon purchase of 2 15" subzeros 1 year ago, I'm pushing a sundown sbf-5000 into these at 1 ohm and reaching 156.2db in the box they give you specs to build when you buy it. I've been into iasca competition for 30 years, kicker, sundown, Orion, skar, dd audio, even Jones subwoofer solutions ( the other brand you should test) but these subzeros are hands down the bet sounding and loudest. And I'm looking to upgrade to 2 holees 15 if RUclips videos are correct one of these should hit 155db. But I really want to see how well they do or don't perform. Links to both the subzero and holees below

You already did the review on these couple months back Parker or did you not notice the similarities and identical basket and cone which really no one else has used until now. That basket only comes out of one manufacturer and now I know undoubtedly where and whom these are made by. I smell fresh baked cookies 🤭

Can u put a mainstream brand again a comparably price value brand, and in something that is realistic like a solid 700 W RMS @13.5 where most enthusiasts end up
MTX 55series vs a nvx or DBonce
RF P3 vs skar or CT sounds

I think the "Breaking in" a sub shit is a myth I've literally never broken in a single sub and have never had a problem in the 18 years I've been into car audio

It’s actually not a myth. The TSPs do change from break-in. It’s proven. Materials need to stretch. You will have fibers and epoxy resin crystals breaking a part making the suspension more compliant. Some subs benefit more than others depending on the compliance and materials of the suspension.

It's just not as big of a deal as what some people make it out to be. My Zv5 12's took some time to "break in". Huge difference on the lows over time. I'm tuned to 30hz and frequencies about 26hz to 31hz hit way harder after they loosen up some. I wouldn't say a break in is necessary for the longevity of it though.

    • @1986BassHead
      @1986BassHead Месяц назад

You'll hit lower lows over time with a good break in, but I usually throw all the power to my subs from day one, never had any issues.

Depends how stiff the subs are when new. You probably just bought shitty subs. Dd audio definitely needs break in
