Aww, thank you! Now the video is up, I shall kick back and enjoy a few chapters! Thank you for watching, lovely! I hope you are keeping really well! Qx
You didn't even glance at my favourite section - philosophy and religion..... Anyways, cosy and classy bookshop. Many bookshops have closed or downsized here in South Africa, therefore I'd love to visit London someday to experience this.
What a magnificent video to kick off 2023. Loved every minute of it Queenie, it was like visiting book heaven. I'd read about the fascinating history of the shop in my copy of W Macqueen-Pope's Goodbye Piccadilly. My eyes were bulging when you got to the London section, trying to spot my friend's 2 books that he did book signings for at Hatchards, Stephen Hoare, Piccadilly - London's West End, and the Pursuit of Pleasure, and Palaces of Power - The Birth and Evolution of London's Clubland, but alas, they weren't there. I got the Colours of London book by Peter Ackroyd, for Christmas. Looking forward already to your next video.
Barry you know all the GREATEST people and you alert me to such wonderful books! :) Just had a little gander at those of your friend - they sound AMAZING! On my list! So glad you enjoyed - I picked up a couple by le Carré - not normally my thing but someone I follow on Twitter has totally made me want to dip my toes in and experiment with something new. I also picked out something that's been on my list for a while and I was surprised to see it there so I considered it a sign! I shall take an Instagram tomorrow as the cover is pretty insta worthy! Have a truly great weekend Prince Barry! I may nip to Fortnums and see what's occuron' for Valentine's Day....Qx
Cool store, I love the history! I just bought a house in North Carolina, USA - previous owner left all kinds of OLD books. I found an older copy of The Wind in the Willows on the shelf and just finished reading it a week or so ago... Although I just turned 40, I did enjoy reading out Mole, Rat, the Badger, and Mr. Toad... Mr. Toad definitely needed an intervention.... LOL.
That is incredible! Complete treasure! :) I would have been so excited to find those! Congrats on your new home, too. I hope you are settling in well :) Oh, you've made me want to reread The Wind in the Willows. So enchanting! Qx
Happy New year my lovely, i no i watch very late at night, like to watch RUclips wen hubby gone bed, missing my hometown as i do i find your videos so comforting , omg a signed paul McCartney book, he's my absolute idol, I'm addicted to books/reading, few yrs ago i had almost all 600 enid Blyton books, sold em wen left for Devon and my god I'm suddenly regretting it past few weeks x
Hello there, lovely! How are you doing?! Happy New Year to you! I hope it's going well so far! :) I know! There were so many signed books , but the process was INSAANE! I picked up one by a historical who is still alive, and the book is only 3 years old - it was £170! I cannot imagine how muxh the McCartney one was! Wow...see you should never sell things! Whenever I've done it, I've always ended up regretting it - and you can't replace them! Enid's books were such beauties - big part of my childhood too :) So lovely to hear from you Qxxx
Happy New Year Queenie (or should I say Dr Queenie in view of your PhD ) xxxxx What a lovely shop. I’ve just messaged my son to watch as he loves books and would love this xx I hope this year bring everything you wish for you truly deserve it xxx I would love to hear more about your PhD xxxx My son did his Masters at UCL xxxx although I think he spent a lot of that time in the Waterstones nearby 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Helen! Hello lovely! It's great to read your comment! Hahaha - yes I did a PhD on British Vogue & The Bloomsbury Group in the 1920s at Keele Uni in the Midlands. :) Your son sounds like a clever chap, you must be so proud of him! Excellent taste in bookshops he has too - that Waterstones is legendary! :) I hope he enjoys having a look around Hatchards too! Thank you so much for watching, love, and for your lovely comment! I hope you are all having a great start to 2023! Qxxx
Oh Queenie, this was fabulous!! Hatchards is the most incredible bookshop I have ever seen. If I lived there, I would be there all the time, and perpetually broke! Thank you so much for this wonderful vlog. I kept pausing it to write down book titles.
Hi there Maria! Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and even more happy that you are coming to London soon! I hope you have lots of things planned and that you have a truly wonderful time! Qxx
Absolutely my favourite bookstore ♥️ I do yesterday big order from hatchard... I love read Victorian ghost stories and various horror story and hatchard have all for satisfied my gothic book's Passion.

@noemiamadei9548 yes, I am. Born and raised. Oh, how wonderful, I love Otaly, I have visited Rome (my favourite city) Florence, Venice and Milan. I dream of doing a whole tour of the beautiful country :) Thank you so much for your kind words Qxx
Happy New Year Queenie - hope you had a good Christmas! Thank you for the Christmas vlogs - it made me feel very festive! I like the look of the book shop - definitely my cup of tea! Spent a lot of happy hours in the library myself too! 💐❤
Me too lovely! I'm glad you enjoyed coming along to Hatchards with me! It's so nice to escape for an hour or two in a good bookshop! I love shops where they just let you be- let you take your time and browse. Have a lovely weekend! Qxx
Happy New Year Queenie hope you and your family including little Alfie had a great Christmas 🎄🎄👍🏻😁 Great to see you back, been missing your vlogmas's, didn't want them to end only 345 days until Christmas 👍🏻😁 Love the Bookshop, i have never been there, maybe one day. Look forward to your next stream Have a great weekend and week ahead 👍🏻👍🏻😁
How lovely to hear from you, Lee! Thank you so much for watching! Chrostmas day went by so quickly, but it was really lovely, thank you :) I really gone you and your family did too! I also hope you got some super gifts! How is 2023 going so far? Let's hope it's a good one! Have a wonderful weekend whatever you're up to! I might take a little wander round the National Gallery tomorrow - I fancy a little art and some shelter from this miserable rain! Qx
That is adorable! Isn't it wonderful how we can remember information like that from our childhoods?! I can recall from my local library where exactly my favourite series of books were. Such warm, fond memories :) Qx
I was looking forward to seeing a lot of old books, but it’s really a modern bookshop. I visited a bookstore in the USA in Birmingham Alabama and there were 1,000s of old books. I don’t think I saw one modern book.
That's enough to make me want to get a flight there immediately! I'm currently trying trying to hunt out Londons greatest collection of old books...I have found a very, very cool annual antique book fair that wpuld be great to take you all along to! Qx
Hi there! Oooo that's exciting! I would definitely say Daunt Books in Marylebone. She's a beauty. And if you're into your antiquarian curiosities and want a REAL old fashioned experience, try Jarndyce, Great Russell Street! If you fancy nipping into a few in one area, Cecil Court by Leicester Square Tube is a book lovers heaven! (There's also a load on nearby Charing Cross Road. (Especially reccommend Any Amount of Books which has all secondhand!) I hope you have a safe trip and a truly wonderful time! Qxxx
Queenie did say because it’s Candlemas. Superstitious people who miss taking decorations down by twelfth night may keep their decorations up until then. Also English Heritage are encouraging people to wait until Feb the 2nd too. I’ve noticed a few near me still have theirs up so I investigated! Lol xx
Lovely book store. However, they would have more traffic and sales, if they opened up a secition of it for a medium size tearoom, and reading room, where people can relax, read, delight in their purchases, and perhaps buy again. If they do that, it will be more inviting; instead of the stiff, political stance that offers nothing but coldness. What say you, Miss Queenie? Happy New Year to you and yours.
Whether or not Churchill was great doesn't come into play here. He was referenced in relation to a turn of events that occurred in relation to Chanel. I am neither afraid of the past, nor afraid to discuss what occurred there. It does sound like you, however, are. Therefore, I suspect it's rather more a case of shame on you. Such an approach to history will lead you to nowhere but hollow ignorance.
Good Evening 👑
Enjoy your new books with a nice hot Cuppa when you're back at Home...📚☕️

Hatchards is my favourite bookshop in London and it doesn't hurt that next door is Fortnums - My favourite store in the world.
What an interesting library!
When I was a child ,you could take out a max of 4 books . Spine labels would say E for easy - little ones books,JF for juvenile fiction
