One other thing that I think would be a fitting and lasting tribute to David is that he's never taken off the opening credits of the show. Especially, since he was an original cast member. He deserves a permanent spot of the show.
Show casing the doctor memories of how his life effected the lives of both the living and the dead in crime solving by experiences not just guest work but true caring to find the facts of the case ! that was ducky !...
I'm so disappointed in the NCIS heads!!! I just watched the latest episode after the tribute episode. I can't believe that they removed David from the opening credits 😭 The man's bodies barely cold 🥶 Where's the love???
I think that was the absolut best episode ever. The flashbacks show why we love this show so much. And it is an awesome epispde in honor of David McCallum, who is dearly missed.
Brian, ya'll wrote a fantastic show. I'm proud of you and dignified tribute to David, aka Ducky. You and the rest of the cast showed the real love you all had for David. Thanks for bringing Tony back even if it was just for a minute. His appearance and character was truly needed as that pick me up at the end of the story.
@@lauriehuber3040how did you miss that LOL that's what Jimmy said to the dog when he first went to Ducky's house he was talking to the dog and he used the dog's name solo you really must have not been paying attention
David was my first TV crush as a young girl while he was in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. I was very happy when I started watching NCIS and saw Ducky. Rest in Peace David. You are missed but gave us a great period of entertainment. Brian you did a great job with the tribute episode.
ME TOO! I was 6. How old were you? The first man I ever loved that was not my dad! ❤😂😂❤. The thing is I loved his music too. David will me missed by all that not just knew him, but of his talents, as we did.
He was my crush too. I loved how smart he was. I was 10 and being a little black girl from watts he was one of the influences that made me want to explore the world, a dream I have been blessed enough to achieve.
I think it's also a perfect time for Tony to return. Gremlin is going to need someone to bring him up and make him laugh out loud and be a happier version of himself.
My favorite episode was The Meat Puzzle where Gibbs was asked what Ducky looked like when he was young, and he responds that he looked like Illya Kuryakin.
I actually lost interest in the show in its previous two seasons but after watching the last episode I remembered why I love the show. It’s not the crime mystery’s it’s the characters and the adventures they go on as a family.
My husband and I saw the show, and I cried.. for even "Ducky" (aka: David Mc...) passed last Sept. That to have the show remember him this way was done a great way. I was expecting to see GIBBS and Abby show up. (The black flowers shown i guess this better then nothing of her presence. but at least Tony showed up at the end of show, to put a bow tie on Jimmy. That was great moment. RIP -DAVID (Ducky) you will be missed.
Well said Brian, I have been a Fan Since Episode 1 in 2003……I am sure a lot of Fans look at Ducky as. Grandfather because I do he will ALWAYS BE MISSED BY HIS FANS FOR YEARS TO COME, I had tears coming out too even at age 66……..NCIS will always be my Favorite Show and I am sure everyone here can appreciate and the love this show has in their Characters R.I.P. NCIS is one of my favorite shows, and dont get tired of even watching the reruns no doubt ❤, love all the actors, they're so great and entertaining 😀 👍 😄 👏 😊
Any one else disappointed that Gibbs didn't show up! Wonder whose choice it was that he didn't make an appearance! I don see any good reason why he wasn't in this episode. Was a good show.
I couldn't believe that Gibbs, Ziva, Abby or even Diana's husband (sorry I can't remember the characters name this minute!) Were even mentioned in regards to Ducky passing! I didn't feel right, very disappointing. Did luv that Jimmy found Ducky, that felt very right.
Well, it did have a couple of surprises. I will say that I hope that most people know that the name solo was paying homage to Robert Vaughn, who was Napoleon solo in the man from uncle and not, and I heard this this morning, and I couldn’t believe it Harrison Ford as Hans Solo. I thought Brian told a beautiful story I know like he said, he had a lot of help, but you could tell that he had his heart and everything that he did as everyone who was on that screen did that night. Tony coming back was a treat and when he was tying the bowtie around Jimmy’s neck the eyes that had been watering through. Most of the show burst in the tears. Yes, the old clip with Gibbs that was nice but I have to admit I am incredibly disappointed in Mark for not making an appearance as he has been good for NCIS, NCIS has been very good to Mark. I thought everyone else did an incredibly beautiful job. I love Gary Cole whether he is the idiot boss in Office Space, or bingo, Bob Russell in the West Wing, when it comes to series television, he is often asked to step in after someone with very big shoes to fill has stepped out, and he never ever fails to deliver. Somewhere though after 20 years, Tim needs a team. He’s earned it. I can remember a meeting between Vance and Gibbs when Vance said Tim was the face of the NCIS team of the future. The future is now.
I recorded it on DVR and watched it again today. Mark not being on the episode I think was a class act because if he were there the emphasis might have been on him/Gibbs and not David/Ducky; besides there were nods to Abby and Gibbs-the letter from Alaska and the wreath so both were there in their own ways. The writing was so spot on and now I am wondering, will Jimmy wear bowties as a nod to Ducky and in that way carry on the legacy? Many fans want to see David's image remain on the credits and I agree that would be fitting and hope that the future of NCIS remains bright.
I'm glad Solo was homage to Robert since David worked with him on "MFU" instead of Han Solo. I liked "Star Wars", but I was-and still am-a Trekkie. Glad that Brian could co-write this great story.
I have admired David McCallum since he was on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. I will miss him greatly. Seeing Tony really made me cry. I don't know why. Good bye, David.
Welcome back Michael Whetherly I've missed you. And as for the tribute to Ducky I loved it, however it would be much better if you were to aire the actual wake and funeral. With everyone sharing even more stories.
I just watched the latest episode of NCIS after the tribute episode and unfortunately David was already removed 😭 I'm so disappointed in the NCIS series heads for such a hasty move!!!
Fabulous show! What a well written tribute to David McCallum “Ducky”. I got a kick out of the dog’s name Solo as it was a reference to Man from UNCLE which I was allowed to watch at a young age. Superb performances by everyone and LOVED DiNozzo showing in the last scene. Perfection💕
I am sorry my mom died well before NCIS came on, she would have loved David. One of my favorite Easter Egg was looking at a picture of young Ducky, Gibbs says he looked like Ilya Kuryakin..the role David played in The Man From Uncle.
“Our pain is a small price for their piece” really helped me in the moment as my granddaughter had coded twice and we were struggling with the loss of a very special young lady. Thank you for giving us added support in our time of need.
This episode was so well written and acted that we were both tearing up. My wife looked at me through tears and said, “that was a powerful and moving episode.” We began following David McCallum in the Man From Uncle years and always liked him. We caught the careful script references to that show. The name Solo the cat reference made us smile much like comic relief during a funeral. You created a beautiful tribute to a man’s life and career within a great television series. This episode will be remembered for a lifetime similar to Edith’s Death in All In The Family also Blake’s Death in M.A.S.H. Well Done!
I came to NCIS to see Ilya Kuryakin! And I was sad that Robert Vaughan was never featured. So I was quite tickled to see the corgi name Solo! Remembering Duckys mom with the corgi and Man from Uncle with the name! The whole episode one of my all time favorites.
I came into this episode 20 minutes late. I was just crushed about that, but the tribute to Ducky was so great for the rest of this episode. Rest in peace David McCallum, I have missed you so very much.
I loved how it was a tribute to Ducky/David, and the case was a great way to honor Ducky. True to his character. And great to see Tony, and a tip of the hat to Abby. Nicely done.
David MacCallum due to his MAN From U.N.C.L.E Illya role, had me speaking into a pen for 2-3 years in the late 1960s. "Open Channel D" etc.... Odd to cast a Scot as a Russian, but it worked!
I cannot thank you all enough for your outstanding episode honoring David. It was very powerful and very emotional. It would be my hope, that in the future, the use of Ducky's archives will still come into play on cases and that old footage might be cleverly edited to keep his presence alive on the show, even if only in an 'as a memory' capacity, because, the dead do still speak to us. Well done Brian, well done.
Haven't seen this one yet, but I didn't see one question during this video mentioning Gibbs. Those two characters were friends and close. How could they not in some way have Gibbs there for this?
Both my husband and I have been fans from the beginning and although the tribute was nice,, we both wish that at least a little bit of is service, perhaps, the eulogies. We have followed David McCallum’s career since the old Man from U.N.C.L.E. series and I wasn’t even a teenager yet. My condolences, thoughts and heart go out to his family - both his family and friends from home and his work family and friends.
Oh thank God I'm not the only one who had tears streaming down her face while watching this wonderful episode that showed bits & pieces of why we all loved the beloved Ducky
I'm glad that the old episodes are still being broadcast here in the Netherlands. I have already seen the episode with Ducky's death, but fortunately they also broadcast old episodes (season 7/8) and Ducky is still there with all his good advice and humor. Miss you Ducky/David ❤💔
I was up set to see that Abby, Gibbs or Zeva didn’t come or and thing that hurt me on that but other than that he was honored beautiful RIP DUCKY💙💙💙💔WE LOVE AND MISS YOU💙💙💙💙💙
I feel sorry for Brian. Working for a superstar like David and then losing him must have been hard. He worked with David for almost 2 decades i just wish that all the originals was in there. Brian has big shoes to fill and fills them well. David will be missed
That episode was so well written and acted that I laughed, and I cried throughout it. I wish they'd included the scene when Tony lets Ziva drive for the first time and Ducky and Jimmy are getting tossed around in the back like laundry in a dryer and not knowing what's going on.
What I love about Ducky (David) is when he shares fun facts to Palmer and the NCIS Team about Halloween in Scotland and other medical and non medical fun facts. R.I.P David mccallum. 😢
It would be amazing if Abby came back to the spin off cuz she went to London or wherever to open that thing for Reeves to honor his mom.. and since Mark isn’t on the new spin off Pauley could come back !! Love you Brian!
Even if Abby and Ziva couldn't be there in person they could have had them speaking to the team on Zoom or something similar,if I remember correctly Gibbs couldn't get internet service where he lived, he couldn't even get mobile phone service,Vance gave him a satellite phone and if he could he'd have to find someone with a computer or laptop.
Great to see Tony at the end but it would had been cooler if it was Tony, Gibbs, Abby & Ziva showed up tell Jimmy "Come on Jimmy, let's give our final goodbyes to Duckie". McGee walks in telling everyone let's go, we don't want to be late. Then Tony say something silly and on there way out the office Gibbs slap Tony on the head for old times as the old gang walk in the elevator.
Abby is retired from acting due to a stroke and wants nothing to do with teh show. Ziva is busy with other projects. Gibbs had a scheduling conflict. Wasn't possible.
Thank you @chriskay1449 for answering all but 1 of the questions I have after seeing last nights amazing episode! Now I only don't know the reason for Bishop not being there. Thanks again!!
@@chriskay1449Abby or Pauley had a stroke? She's younger than I am (68)! P I know anyone of any age can have a stroke (my best friend had a stroke as a baby and had CP as a result; never the less, she was married, has a son, drives, and 3 college degrees!). Did David have a heart attack or stroke? I offer condolences for his family.
NCIS has always had a “family” tone since the very first episode. Gibbs and his past, Ducky and Gibbs’ past together. Every character in the series has gotten to be a member of the NCIS family as well as a family member of the viewer.
Yes. I thought sure Gibbs would be there. Ducky asked Gibbs to be the executor of his will. Did you see the flash of a manilla envelope on Tim’s desk from Alaska? As soon as I saw that I was pretty sure Gibbs would not be there, but still hoping maybe….
When Jimmy and Jessica Knight are at Ducky’s home looking for his old journals, Jimmy looks at a photo of Solo (the Corgi) and tell Knight, “Victoria is so excited we adopted Solo.” ❤
Wrong show. David McCallum starred as Illya Kuryakin in 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' (1964-1968) which also starred Robert Vaughn as Napoleon Solo. U.N.C.L.E. is an acronym for United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. 'I Spy' (1965-1968) starred Bill Cosby as Alexander "Scotty" Scott and Robert Culp as Kelly Robinson.
I remember watching "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." back in the '60s with Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin and was happy when I saw him playing "Ducky" on J.A.G. & NCIS. I was surprised that they didn't have Gibbs show up for Ducky's memorial, though. I'll probably no longer watch NCIS as it isn't as good as it was with Mark Harmon.

When was this on? And what network? I really hate to miss it.
Just imagine if they had brought back Gerald from Season 1!
I know anyone of any age can have a stroke (my best friend had a stroke as a baby and had CP as a result; never the less, she was married, has a son, drives, and 3 college degrees!). Did David have a heart attack or stroke? I offer condolences for his family.
@@virginiaconnor8350 Yeah. I mean, she is over 50 and I want to say she will be 54 this March. She does look younger than she is.
NCIS has always had a “family” tone since the very first episode. Gibbs and his past, Ducky and Gibbs’ past together. Every character in the series has gotten to be a member of the NCIS family as well as a family member of the viewer.
I SOOOOOOO LOVE JIMMY PALMER. HE IS PRECIOUS.
Yes. I thought sure Gibbs would be there. Ducky asked Gibbs to be the executor of his will. Did you see the flash of a manilla envelope on Tim’s desk from Alaska? As soon as I saw that I was pretty sure Gibbs would not be there, but still hoping maybe….
Why didn't Gibbs make an apperance??
It was a great episode!! 😊
This was a great episode.
I really wish Gibbs could have come back too.
What happened to the dog that was with Ducky?
When Jimmy and Jessica Knight are at Ducky’s home looking for his old journals, Jimmy looks at a photo of Solo (the Corgi) and tell Knight, “Victoria is so excited we adopted Solo.” ❤
I loved when Jimmy used to help Tony from time to time.
I hope Jimmy dons the bow tie at least for the rest of this season
I love seeing the tribute to his previous works in 'I Spy' by naming Ducky's dog, Solo David will be missed!
@@luminiferous1960 - OOPS! You're correct! Man from UNCLE!
I loved the episode and I love the team as they are now. Life changes people move on. Kinda ha ve a crush on Cole :)
Gracias Victiana por esta lectura del Mes de Marzo. Gracias tambien Al apoyo de guia y Luz de mis Srs. Arcangeles Miguel, Raquel y Jeremiel. Gracias infinitas por su Luz y guia. Cariños y bendiciones.🙏🙏🙏🌞🌞🌞💐🥀🌺☘️🥦🌹🤗💖
I would’ve preferred to see Abby come back. Whatever reasons Pauley had for leave, surely she would’ve wanted to give Abby the chance to honour Ducky.
Great show!!!!
who was Ducky's body double in the opening scene?
Pretty sure that was a dummy
Thank you ducky RIP
