I think you're right, pretty much. It does feel a bit AI adaptive and nonsensical at some points, either harder than it should or moments when it's just dumb. I've too much free time atm and still it feels like a part time job. But let's face it, it's the way EA intended, you either grind yourself on the game or pay up. There's no way to get the good rewards playing casually...
Blame the streamers for that mate, all ea want is for you to spend more money. It gets easier every year to get good players in your team but because there's soo many of them people think only the meta cards worth loads are good when that's not true. I'm doing a villa pnp with evos and I'm having fun upgrading my team. The games no worse than last year really I think people just jump on the bandwagon because they didn't get a Pele.
