You’re awesome!! I had a stroke July 2023. I have all my sounds down and I sound normal when I say short phrases. But when I have conversations I sound slow and pause a lot. It’s the transitions from word to word. I read out loud and it was helping for a while but now I feel stuck. Any suggestions??
Nicole! Awesome and thank you for commenting here ❤. Great that you have sounds down and can say short phrases! To improve conversations, try thinking of and practicing your thoughts into 3 short phrases. You could do this once a day on your own- imagine a conversation you might have or think of a prompt and pretend to respond with 3 short ideas/phrases. I will give you one to start: "I used to go line dancing with my mom and my aunt. It was SO MUCH FUN and so good for my mind and my body. That was a great time in my life!" now you can take a second and assemble 3 short phrases in response (you will probably have many more but often, choosing which 3 to start with causes a frustrating delay 👍) We have Practice Partners with my class and that would be a HUGE help here- getting with someone on your communication level who understands and is wortking on this too- to go back and forth with.
