At 5:37 in the video, you click on "Go to state" as your action. No matter what I do, when I make an "Object State", and try to make a button for them, the greyed out checkbox for "Go Back on Roll Off" is ALWAYS already checked, and it won't let me uncheck it. I've tried everything I know to try. It's making Object States extremely limited for me to use. Do you know how I can "un-check" the greyed out "Go Back on Roll Off"? I hope you can help. I've searched all over for a solution, but no luck. And others have had this issue also. Could make a good video if you had a solution.
Hi there and sorry to hear you are getting stuck! Is there a possibilty to email me a part of your project to better understand the issue since it is hard for me to picture it? 😊
@@EliasSarantopoulos Hi! Thank you so much for your reply. Sorry for the delay in response. Someone on the Adobe forum helped me. It is a glitch in InDesign. When it happens (Go Back on Roll Off is checked and greyed out), you have to delete your InDesign preferences. They explained to hold down shift-option-control-command (mac) and open InDesign. It will then ask if you want to delete preferences. It fixed the issue. Thank you for the reply sir! You have very good and insightful videos, btw.
I do have another separate issue for which hopefully you have a better and more comprehensive solution. And I'm hoping maybe our comments/replies will help others as well. You're welcome to make a video of the issue, as long as it's with different artwork. Below is a long winded explanation of: When I try to use "Roll Over" and "Click" button states with "Go To State" and "Show/Hide Buttons and Forms", some buttons that should hide upon tap/release won't actually hide until roll off. I also tried using "Click" event instead, but still the same issue. I know a partial solution, but eventually it has to happen. Below explains why, though I hope you can offer a complete solution: Now that I have Object States working, I made a set of Forward and Backward buttons. I used "Show/Hide Buttons & Forms" to show/hide all except the Forward & Backward button needed to be shown on that State. For my situation, this works, as long as I don't create "Roll Over" and/or "Click" states for the buttons. But if I try to use "Roll Over" and/or "Click" states which I prefer to do, sometimes the button doesn't hide until I hover off the button (if the buttons are layered a certain way). I noticed if I arrange my buttons in the layers, it fixes most times this happens. But of course eventually, it has to cycle to the lower layer buttons again. Normally, I would just use "Go To Next State" and "Go To Previous State". But in this situation, I have to use "Go To State" because each state is a video of a ring binder design that either plays a short video flipping forward, or an alternate video flipping backward, from any given page spread. If I use "Go To Next State, I won't be able to use the alternate videos that show the pages flipping backwards. I would only be able to flip forward, and a "Backward" button wouldn't visually work. I could of course just disable "Stop at last state", and cycle back to the beginning, but I would like the viewer to have the option to go back a page without cycling through all pages again. Any ideas? I could share the link to the presentation with you in a private message if you would like, if you will keep it private since it's for my employer. Hope you are well! And thank you in advance! 😊
Perfect. Thank you so much
You are very welcome as well! 😀 👋
