Muguet is my favorite note in fragrance...my first "big girl" perfume was Muguet des Bois cologne. Would love to try some of the ones you mentioned. I worked in a small floral boutique and we did a LOT of weddings, flying by the seat of our pants a lot. I learned quite a bit. My parents (original section of house built in 1702) had lily of the valley spreading out all along the front border and I used to pick it and put it in a little violet vase every spring. My mother, who passed away in 2016 at age 91 after a life well lived, said she had to sing a little ditty on stage in grammar school: "White coral bells upon a slender stalk, lilies of the valley deck my garden walk. Oh don't you wish that you could hear them ring, that will only happen when the fairies sing." I can still hear her singing it.....so my mom, whose birthday is in May, would be turning 99 next month? Math is not my strong suit. My wonderful father was a May baby too, he passed in 2020 at 97.
THAT'S AWESOME!! I love your mom's song! Sorry she passed. Mine would have been 100 years old but she passed in the 90's. You worked in a flower shop eh? So you know that weird feeling of worry and dread mixed with the smell of flowers that comes from working in a flower shop too. LOL!! I loved the flowers but found it very stressful, always hurry hurry hurry and heaven forbid any mistakes where made!! I definitely believe there are fairies out there amongst the Lily of the Valley flowers!!💜💜💜 Thanks so much again!!
I agree- some of these fragrances reviews are really well written! 🌸Have you tried W by Banana Republic?. I couldn't bring myself to keep it. Not sure I like Lily of the Valley😒
Hi! Thanks so much for checking out my video! I have never tried W by BR, I would like to be more up on some of the newer fragrances, I know how Lily of the Valley is not the kind of thing that everyone likes, it is sooooo sweet and green and, in your face, I love it tho! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Have just finished full video. Thanks for the tip that the Yves Rocher lotion might be more pleasant. The Guerlain products have always been exquisite but I have never smelled their Lily of the valley. Tha bottle alone is impressive & I have read that this fragrance is limited edition, only coming out in May, the month of the flower. I used to be able to wear Avon as an adolescent (they also made a lilac which I loved) but now I must be allergic to whatever they put in their fragrances…too harsh. Elizabeth Arden perfumes I can wear for the most part and wore Red Door for several years after it was first introduced. Chanel 5 is also one of the few fragrances I can wear without getting a migraine. I was curious about what you seemed to say was two different versions of Yardley. I’d be interested in the one that is not the $15.00 one at the drug store. Is it too late for me to try to get Lily of the valley bulbs to plant? Just before I put your video on my daughter I informed me that our landlord dug up our patch of Lily of the valley & I’m spitting fire! You see, I look forward to that garden blooming. This may have been my last chance to enjoy it. I have been very, very sick and bedridden for almost a year. I do not expect to live much longer. This is the icing on the cake if the various things this new manager has done to my unit. The destruction of the garden along with the patio door replacement that has turned my home into a fire trap (because the door swings to the inside making it horribly difficult to open if you are using a wheelchair or walker. You also cannot open it for fresh air as there is no screening to keep flies out & pets in. I’ve also waited almost a year exactly for the washing machine that is part of the rental agreement to be fixed. But this is Canada, land if no housing. So, sorry for being grumpy but I now have to go after these people about my garden. It’ll be fun because they can barely speak English. Thanks for your post.
Hi Shelley!! Thanks for your great posts!! The Lily of the Valley from Yardley seems to have had two different formulations but it still has the same name I think but both are the affordable versions. Yes it is unfortunately too late to plant Lily of the Valley flowers in the garden (today is April). I love it when people really know fragrances and then give such specific comments as yours. You, like a lot of my viewers seem to really have a deeper knowledge of fragrances that most folks I meet in the street. I'm sorry to hear about your illness! I also have been sick for the last year and four months. I almost died! I am so thankful for the Canadian health care system! I'm from the US but my hubby is Canadian. Although I love my home country I am so thankful that Canada does so much to help it's citizens. My mom (American) paid into her health care provider through her long time employer but then when she needed life saving surgery they just CHOSE not to approve her and she passed on about four months later. Fast forward to my own experience,I've had probably like what would have cost $500 thousand dollars worth of care here in Canada in the last year! Multiple ER visits, an operation and still ongoing visits and care from specialists. In the US I don't know if I'd still be alive. I can honestly say the Canadian health care system saved my life! And that's without a family doctor, just clinics and emergency!Anyhow thanks so much, I've really enjoyed all of your posts!🏵🏵🏵
Thank YOU FRAGRANCE MATT! My channel is only a few months old and I really appreciate your encouragement and kind words. I loved your take on fragrances as well, you pay homage to the mystery of fragrance with your Imari review, bravo!
By any chance, do you remember the difference between Diorissimo EDT and EDP? Agree about 5th Avenue - nice but doesn't seem to be a LOTV fragrance. Also like the Yves Rocher one. I have the mist. The Guerlain looks great but too expensive for me :)
Hi Boost!! Thank you for watching and commenting! Well your question is a good one but I'm afraid I don't really have the answer. I worked behind the counter for Christian Dior cosmetics & fragrances in a department store in the late 90's, I remember we sold the EDT but not any other choices (like EDP). Back then not much attention was paid to whether the different concentrations smelled much different, only that they had a higher concentration of parfum oils and therefore might be stronger smelling (not different) and would last longer on the skin. I'm aware though that a lot has changed since those days and now it seems that there may be a bigger difference in the actual smell of fragrances based on concentrations. Diorissimo came out in 1956, but there is an Diorissimo Extrait De Parfum that was released in 2014. The nose is different, and the notes are different, but on Fragrantica in the 'this perfume reminds me of' section, people seem to think it smells like Diorissimo! Anyhoo that's all I really know. Thanks so much for stopping by!🌷🌷🌷
Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful answer :) Yeah the EDPs, EDTs, extraits tend to have differences in the composition, and emphasis of notes. I suppose the earlier Diorissimo would also be different from later versions. I used to think extraits would project better and last longer. But sometimes it's just the opposite. Thanks for sharing your videos :)
Hi! I think one of the best one's is Yardley Lily of the Valley. It's one of the few Lily of the Valley fragrances that I feel truly smells a lot like the flowers .They have great body products too like lotions & soaps. Not sure if that helps but I wish your lovely daughter an AWESOME birthday! 🎂🎂🎂
The video title is Ten Fragrances. But you didn’t tell about the fragrance, nor start naming off from Fragrantica until halfway through the video with random unrelated annoying sidebits.
Hi Renee! Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and comment. I agree with you, my delivery is pretty scatterbrained, LOL! I wish I could figure out why this is my most-watched video! Cheers!
@@talktothehandreviewsMaybe due to the subject matter? I hadn’t realized that your channel was new;so, you will improve more & more each time you post. As for the astrology thing…I didn’t realize some people still asked that but some people do find it entertaining or fascinating & that is their right. My British Gran started teaching me astrology when I was about 8(1959) probably because she had given shelter (an apartment over her garage) to a Grand Master of the Rosicrucians that no one would rent to. She was a great one for taking in strays or underdogs. So, I was 8 when I was learning it and then the Hippies took it on in the 60’s. Probably nothing to worry about.

I’m so sorry but I had to pause your video when you came to the Yves Rocher version of Lily of the Valley, pronounced “mew gay” or Muguet des nous ( mew gay day bwah). Literally “Lily of the valley of the woods”. The version by Coty, I believe was extremely popular with myself & my mother in the 1960’s. So far your pronunciations are like listening to fingernails on a chalk board. I’m not commenting to be mean but if you are planning on presenting a post for many people to see, wouldn’t you do more research so that you are giving well documented information? Wouldn’t you practice the pronunciations? I’ve never tried to do anything like this but I have ingrained need to present my topics to the very best of my abilities. I’m sorry, maybe you didn’t have enough time to cobble your information together & had to rushing to get it sent out there, It is obviously nice that you have at least tried to be informative.
Darn! Sorry but I’m almost 73 and sometimes my fingers hit the wrong keys. I was trying to type “Muguet des Bois” but it printed “nous” instead of “Bois”. I also think that sometimes these darn cell phones are out to sabotage you! I also meant to say that the Coty Muguet des Bois was mad popular & I often see people online lamenting that it isn’t available. I came to your site because I am searching for a long time for a scent that is similar to that scent. I have the Yves Rocher one; I’m not wild about the Yardley one. I have a couple of solid and roll on perfume oils from Etsy. No luck so far.
Hi Shelley!! That's totally fine about the pronunciations I know I am sometimes haphazard about them! 😂🤣😂 I don't mind the criticism. Since I've had this channel (about two years now) I have found that the whole RUclips thing is pretty casual and a lot of fragrance reviewers are even more lax about it than I am!! I have also found that in the world of trying to put forth so much content that it's beneficial to have a little more loose attitude about perfection. The fact that in some videos I may mis pronounce things is sort of funny and gives people something to comment on. 😁😁😁 If I really scrutinized my videos harshly I would just give up and stop making videos LOL!! BUT I always try to pronounce things right because I don't want to be disrespectful to anyone's culture! The funny thing about this video too is that up until recently it was my most viewed video! I have no idea why! Hey sincerely thanks again for your comments! I've enjoyed chatting with you and look forward to hearing from you again if you ever decide to watch more of my vids! Cheers and have a wonderful spring day!!🌸💮🏵🌹🥀🌺🌻🌼🌷
Hi Lou! Thanks for commenting, I really appreciate it especially because my channel is new and it really helps me! Before I answer the astrology question, do you mind if I ask you why you ask? 😀😀😀
Looks like the person didn’t answer your question as to why they were asking you if you were into astrology so I’m guessing the reason she asked is because different astrological signs have different flowers, fragrances associated with that sunshine For instance, people who were born in May are Tauruses, the flower for may is lily-of-the-valley So each sign has a flower associated with your sun sign Love your channel I just found it today !

The first half small amount of information was interesting but full of long winded, unrelated sidebits. Didn’t mentjon the perfumes until painfully half long winded way through the video, and then it’s it’s just naming off from Fragrantica without your personal experience of them.
